#i simply thing 'wow daphne try harder next time'
Katharine McGee needs to stop trying to redeem Daphne here. I'm a Daphne stan because she's morally repugnant not because she has a secret emotional side

You worked in the same building as Catcher and he counted you as the only person that he had noticed in his office. It was hard to grasp his attention, especially when he goes through woman so quickly but then he saw you, working quietly at a desk. You didn’t even look up when he passed which is what initially caught his eye. Usually the girls in the office stated at him as he passed. If he didn’t leave a whole office of broken necks than something was wrong. And you were wrong.
Your neck was not broken.
And you were drop dead gorgeous. Not like a regular beautiful but like a rusticly, renissance painting in a church gorgeous. His eyes were glued to yours even as Peter spoke to him about something he couldn’t quite hear.
“Who is she?” Catcher asked, his voice breathy and eyes following your movement as you handed another coworker a paper. Peters voice died out as he followed his friends gaze to you, laughing at some joke now.
“Oh that’s Y/N. Why? Why do you look like that?” He waved a hand in front of Catchers face which finally woke him up from his trance. Catcher turned to Peter and nodded stifly, clearing his throat.
“Is she single?” Peter scoffed.
“She’s nice is what she is. Leave her alone,” he stated simply but Catcher was already on a role here.
“Is. She. Single.” Peter let out a hard breath and nodded, succumbing to Catchers eye.
“As far as I know yes. But plenty of people have tried to get to her for your information and no one has gotten there.”
Catcher walked over to your desk, fixing his hair as he did so. He leaned against your desk and you looked up from your papers to meet his eye with a beautiful smile.
“Hi, I’m Catcher Block,” he said. He usually got a reaction out of that but you just nodded politely and grabbed a paper from your large stack of them.
“This is for you Catcher Block. Sorry, I was going to drop it off later if I didn’t catch you,” you told him sweetly. He was dumbfounded that you weren’t inthralled by him. Everyone was!
He nodded and walked away, not sure what to say to that. But he wasn’t about to give up. Especially because Peter was watching him and laughing at his failed attempt to woo you.
Every work day for the next week Catcher would come up to your office to spark conversation. It got easier as the days went on and as he got to know you and your work ethic better he only fell harder. Two weeks in and he was over the silly flirting. He had his secretary call you into his office so that he could hopefully catch you in private.
You walked in, heels clicking the floor gently as you closed the door behind you.
“Yes Mr.Block?” He was sitting on his desk and shook his head at you, laughing gently.
“For the last time Y/N my name is Catcher. I wanted to talk to you about something.” Your worries spiked. Were you about to be fired? You knew you shouldn’t have flirted with him but it was just so tempting. He was so easy to flirt with!
“Sure Catcher.” You walked closer to him, preparing yourself for the worst.
Catcher was trying to remember what he has rehearsed in the mirror five minutes prior but everything he had was gone. It was frustrating. He wanted to be smooth to get you with him.
Finally he spoke.
“I wanted to ask you out to dinner.”
There was a beat of silence as that sunk in. You eased, realizing you were already flinching, prepared to be fired and thrown out. This was a curveball you were not expecting. You caught his eye and a faint blush on his face that surprised you. A smile crept on your face and you unclenched your fists at your sides.
“Like a date?” you inquired. He nodded, recognizing he wasn’t breathing but not really caring.
“Yes. Like a date.” You pretended to think about it.
“Sure Catcher.” He finally let out his breath and smiled charmingly at you.
“Good! Good good.” You giggled a bit and walked a few stops forward and grabbed a pen off his desk and a piece of discarded paper.
“You can pick me up here at 8?” you asked, handing him the paper. He nodded, still in awe of your looks but also just in awe in general.
“On the dot doll.”
You turned to leave and then turned back, your eyes looking at the ground like you were thinking. He was worried you might take it back because he couldn’t figure out what was going on in your head. You turned all the way around and took the few steps forward between you and him, your heels hitting the floor with more purpose now.
You kissed him gently and he responded immediately, smiling into the kiss. You pulled away after a moment and nodded to yourself.
“What was that for?” he whispered. You could feel his breath on your face he was so close. You shrugged.
“Just thought I’d try it.”
You turned around and walked out of his office, your finger brushing your lips in a gooey smile. The second the door clicked behind you Catcher slumped on the desk and let out a laugh of awe. He picked up his desk phone and dialed in a number.
“Peter? Yes that girl I told you about? Wow.”
