Fremantle has completed its big-money acquisition of Death in Paradise producer Asacha Media Group. The super-indie notified this morning that the deal, which was revealed several weeks ago, has gone through, and will see the Poor Things maker acquire the group from Asacha’s founding partners, managers and funds managed by Oaktree Capital Management. Fremantle hasn’t revealed how much Asacha cost but has said it has spent more than €200M ($216M) on both Asacha and 80% of Singapore’s Beach House Pictures since the start of this year. Fremantle takes hold of an eight-label group including Death in Paradise producer Red Planet, Arrow Media and Italy’s Stand By Me. Headquartered in Paris, France, Asacha will continue to be run by Co-Founder and Group CEO Gaspard de Chavagnac who will report to Fremantle’s Andrea Scrosati. De Chavagnac will continue to be supported by Marina Williams as Chief Content Officer of Asacha. Labels will report to de Chavagnac. “We are pleased to welcome Asacha and its incredible labels, producers and creative talent, under Gaspard de Chavagnac to the Fremantle family,” said Scrosati. For Fremantle, the completed move will be a big boost in its bid to reach its much-discussed €3B revenue target, which Deadline revealed last week has been pushed back by up to a year.
London TV Screenings Unveils Next Year’s Dates
The London TV Screenings has announced dates for next year and said there was a 50% uplift in buyers this year. The growing event, which brought together 29 studios and distributors in 2024, will take place February 24 to 28 in 2025. Organized by ITV Studios, All3Media International, Banijay and Fremantle, the screenings have become an integral part of the TV market calendar. The fourth annual event enjoyed an uplift of 50% more buyers in attendance, organizers said, some 750+ in total, as well as attracting 29 participating distributors/studios, a slight increase on the 2023 edition. It comprised a full schedule of free-to-attend events and numerous evening socials.
‘Death In Paradise’ Lead Exits
Death in Paradise lead Ralph Little is exiting the show after four years. Little, who played Neville Parker, is the longest-serving Detective Inspector in the long-running BBC series, coming after Ben Miller, Kris Marshall and Ardal O’Hanlon. New lead casting is coming in due course. Licensed to more than 230 territories across the globe, Death in Paradise has been airing for 13 seasons and more than 100 episodes. It follows the Saint Marie police team solving crimes in the Caribbean Island. “Joining a successful show like Death in Paradise as the lead is a daunting and risky prospect, but Ralf’s confidence and talent shone through from day one and the audience response to Neville and his journey has been amazing,” said exec for Red Planet Pictures Tim Key.

Kanye West Sets Twitter Ablaze With Shots At His Own Kardashian-Jenner Family & Others, Then Promotes New Album (& There’s A Shoe Release Too)
Kanye West is back cutting up again. He went on a bizarre Twitter rant where he revealed his wife Kim Kardashian West was trying to have him hospitalized, shaded the hell out of his mom-in-law Kris Jenner, and he also called out Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour. Everything inside…
Kanye West’s train to destruction continues. And his latest tweets have folks even more convinced this is all another album-and-sneaker-release PR stunt. Especially since this is far from the first time he's created a storm of controversy right before a release of a product.
After making headlines for revealing he and his wife contemplated abortion of their first child, Kanye West is back in the headlines for reckless tweets that set Twitter ablaze. His wife, Kim Kardashian West, was already reportedly "upset" and "furious" over Kanye speaking about her contemplating abortion. Now, we know she's likely ready to bust a vein in her forehead over her hubby's latest social media activity.
In a series of erratic tweets, the Jesus Is King rapper - who's supposedly running for president - didn’t hold anything back about what was going on behind-the-scenes in his personal life. He made claims that his wife Kim Kardashian West was trying to have him hospitalized after his breakdown during his South Carolina campaign appearance. During the event over the weekend, Ye broke down in tears while sharing how he and Kim considered having an abortion when they first learned they were pregnant with North.
"Kim was trying to fly to Wyoming with a doctor to lock me up like on the movie Get Out because I cried about saving my daughters life yesterday," Ye tweeted and deleted.
"Everybody knows the movie get out is about me," he tweeted.
"Kriss don’t play with me you and that calmye are not allowed around my children Ya’ll tried to lock me up," Ye tweeted. Then he added, "Kim tried to bring a doctor to lock me up with a doctor."
We’re assuming he’s referring to his mother-in-law Kris Jenner and her boyfriend Corey Gamble as “Calmye.” In other tweets, the PABLO rapper asked Kim and Kris to call him. He even shared a screenshot of a text message he sent to Kris that reads, “This Ye you ready to talk now or are still avoiding my calls."
And he didn’t stop there….
In several tweets, he made it clear his children would NEVER pose for Playboy magazine, seemingly throwing shade at Kim’s 2007 profile with the racy magazine.
”I put my life on my God that Norths mom would never photograph her doing playboy and that’s on God I’m at the ranch … come and get me,” he tweeted.
The Chi-town rapper also said Kim would never sell a sex tape that featured North unlike how Kim’s mom Kris was rumored to have did.
”I put my life on the line for my children that North’s mother would never sell her sex rape [sic],” he continued tweeting. "West children will never do playboy west," he wrote along with a picture of himself and his children.
He shared a screenshot of a Google search of the words "righteous indignation," which is typically a reactive emotion of anger over mistreatment, insult, or malice of another. It is akin to what is called the sense of injustice.
The "Ultralight Beam" rapper also went off on Shia LaBeouf and VOGUE editor-in-chief Anna Wintour. He said Shia is "cap" since he didn't show up for his Gap photoshoot to launch his new collaboration collection.
"Shia was deposed to do the first YZY GAP shoot and he never showed up," he wrote. "Shia is cap." He popped off on Anna Wintour for bring fake.
"Anna Wintour always showed me love but when I told her I was going to GAP she looked at me like I was crazy Then she called back kissing my ass," he shared.
Peep his tweets below:
We would bet our last dollar the "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" cameras are rolling to capture this sh*tstorm. It's ratings gold and that's all the Kardashian Klan has proven to be concerned about anyway: Fame.  Ye keeps giving them the ammunition they crave to stay relevant.  Family "sources" are already speaking to the tabloids today while the family stays totally mum on the issue on their own platforms:
A source told Entertainment Tonight that Kim is 'completely devastated' by Kanye's tweets and that she has been trying to get her husband help for his bipolar disorder but he has refused.
'Kim has always been public about everything in her life, but with Kanye and him being bipolar she has always respected to keep that more private and within the family,' the source said.
'Kanye tweeting about the family and painting her as trying to 'lock him up' has upset Kim because that wasn't her intention and she only ever wants the best for her husband.'
Meanwhile, another source told Us Weekly that Kim and the rest of the Kardashians think Kanye 'crossed a line' by airing private family matters.
'She's tried so hard to help him, but now Kim and her family feel as though he's really crossed a line by talking negatively about them publicly and sharing private family matters with the public,' the source said.
'She feels helpless at this point.'
We all know what happens when the Kardashians are fed with with their black partners.
Get Out stars Lil Rel Howery & Lakeith Stanfield reacted to Ye's controversial tweets:
              View this post on Instagram
                  Well damn.
A post shared by LaKeith Htiekal Stanfield (@lakeithstanfield3) on Jul 20, 2020 at 7:40pm PDT
Meanwhile, Kanye's billionaire friend Elon Musk tweeted afterwards, "We talked about an hour ago. He seems fine."
After his Twitter rant, Ye announced his new album titled DONDA set to drop this Friday, July 24th :
DONDA coming this Friday pic.twitter.com/HGibF3PHYf
— ye (@kanyewest) July 21, 2020
That's not all that's dropping this Friday:
Adidas announced the reflective ($250) and the non-reflective ($230) versions of the Yeezy Boost 380 "Blue Oat" are dropping on July 24th and July 25th, respectively.
Hmph.
Kanye has said that he has clinically diagnosed bipolar disorder.  And it begs the question of whether this is actually another episode, or if this is a PR stunt.  It's also possible that it's both.

Photo Illustration by The Daily Beast / Photos Getty / CSPANThe House Oversight Committee voted on party lines Wednesday to hold Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross and Attorney General William Barr in contempt of Congress for their failure to respond to subpoenas about the addition of a citizenship question to the census. That action comes a day after the House authorized the Justice Committee to sue Barr and former White House Counsel Don McGahn in federal court, in order to compel them to comply with their subpoenas and testify before the committee regarding the Mueller Report.Trump officials have withheld so many documents in the two investigations, that deceased Republican operative Thomas Hofeller has been more forthcoming than the current administration. Revealed: Memo Shows Trump Officials Trying to Rig Elections for WhitesTwo weeks ago, in a shocking turn of events, memos found on Hofeller’s hard drive revealed that the true purpose of the citizenship question was to change congressional districts to benefit “non-Hispanic whites.” That revelation directly contradicted Trump administration claims that the question was intended to help enforce the Voting Rights Act. Indeed, it showed that the intention was the exact opposite. The Supreme Court is poised to rule on the citizenship question in the next two weeks. While the Census and Russia scandals emerge from different sources, they’re now more alike than different. We’re no longer talking about how a citizenship question would decrease Hispanic responses to the Senate, or whether Donald Trump obstructed justice by firing James Comey. We’re talking about Trump administration officials covering up evidence and refusing congressional subpoenas. In the case of the census, Trump administration officials may have violated the Administrative Procedure Act (APA), and perhaps even the constitution. But in brazenly defying congressional subpoenas, they have flouted the rule of law itself, not to mention Congress’s constitutionally-mandated powers. In some ways, the cover-up is even worse than the crime.“We would be committing legislative malpractice if we didn’t do our job,” said Oversight Committee Chair Elijah Cummings at the start of Wednesday’s often rancorous hearings. Indeed, while several Republican members of the committee tried to make the investigation about something else – “why don’t Democrats want to know how many citizens there are?” asked Ohio congressman Jim Jordan – Democrats continued to hammer on the core of the contempt motion: the defiance of congressional subpoenas. Rep. William Lacy Clay (D-MO) noted that Ross and Barr refused to answer over 100 questions. And while Republicans pointed out that Ross spent seven hours testifying to Congress, Rep. Stephen Lynch (D-MA) countered that “every answer he gave was designed to produce pain and consume time.”To be sure, neither action was a full-on vote on contempt of Congress. Wednesday’s vote was only at the committee level, and the House opted not to find Barr and McGahn in contempt of congress, apparently in the hopes that a deal could still be worked out with them. But underneath the obstruction and contempt are a series of decisions that Republicans would prefer to keep secret. For example, it’s clear – as we noted last October – that Ross lied under oath to Congress. As Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) pointed out in today’s hearing, Ross said that he only added the citizenship question in December, 2017, after a request from the Department of Justice and a public comment period. But a letter Ross wrote seven months earlier, in May 2017, said that he had already requested the question be added. That makes the entire public process a sham, and means that Ross’s underlings violated the APA by falsifying the record. And there are numerous other examples. Ross lied under oath about his meetings with White House advisors Steve Bannon and Kris Kobach, both ardent nationalists. DOJ officials lied about the influence of Hofeller, covered up their conversations about changing census confidentiality rules to share data with ICE, and lied about the chain of events leading up to the proposed change. Most importantly, it’s now abundantly clear that the proffered rationale for the question – to aid in the enforcement of the Voting Rights Act – is pure pretext. (If nothing else, it’s quite bizarre that officials who have opposed the VRA are now so committed to enforcing it.) The real rationale is right there in the Hofeller memos: to dilute the power of non-white communities by omitting non-citizens from congressional district apportionment. That would fly in the face of 230 years of American tradition (after all, women were counted before they could vote, and children are still counted today). And it would advantage “non-Hispanic whites.” The fact that the citizenship question would intimidate Hispanics is just the icing on the cake. What happens now?First, despite Republican protestations, it’s unlikely that the contempt vote – even if it passes the full House – will influence the Supreme Court. They are separate procedures, different factual issues, and different legal standards. (Indeed, Contempt of Congress, like Contempt of Court, is so vague that it barely has a standard at all.) While the Court may take official notice of the contempt finding, it has no legal relevance to the case.Supreme Court Could Ignore Shocking New Evidence Trump Officials Tried to Rig Elections for WhitesSecond, the White House’s eleventh-hour attempt to shield the documents in question under the banner of executive privilege is also unlikely to have much impact. The documents were not privileged in the months that Ross and Barr refused to turn them over, which according to the Oversight Committee demonstrated contempt of Congress. Nor is the privilege claim likely to survive judicial review. The declaration was a transparent attempt to shield embarrassing or incriminating documents from Congress. There’s no plausible rationale for why they should be covered by executive privilege. If anything, the tactic merely begs the question of, in Rep. Cummings’ words, “what are they hiding?”So the next move lies with the House as a whole.Perhaps, as in the Mueller case, House leaders could use the contempt resolution as leverage to compel Ross and Barr to comply with the Oversight Committee’s subpoenas. Or, if such compliance is not forthcoming, the House could find the two in contempt. Doing so is not unprecedented, or even unusual; Attorney General Eric Holder was found in contempt of Congress in 2016 in connection with investigations into DOJ’s “Fast and Furious” program. And Bush White House Counsel Harriet Miers was found in contempt of Congress in 2007 in connection with the administration’s mass firing of U.S. attorneys.Neither of those votes resulted in the resignations of the officials involved, let alone Presidents Obama or Bush. But they did move forward both of the investigations. Conceivably, if two Trump cabinet secretaries are found in contempt of Congress, the same might happen here.Who knows, maybe the government will even catch up with the dead guy.Read more at The Daily Beast.Get our top stories in your inbox every day. 2018 Fantasy Baseball Draft Prep: 12-team Head-to-Head factors public sale outcomes
Our current 12-team Head-to-Head factors public sale ended up being far more than that.
It grew to become a research of diametrically opposed approaches and a 3rd that tried to search out center floor. And since the three house owners on the middle are those you could know from the Fantasy Baseball Immediately podcast, that makes it all of the extra enjoyable.
During the last couple years, focusing on beginning pitching early has turn out to be much less of a no-no in Fantasy Baseball, and that is very true on this format, the place there are fewer hitter spots to fill and no must stability quite a lot of classes, some scarcer than others. General manufacturing is all that issues, which significantly reduces the margin for error when choosing a hitter.
And in a power-laden surroundings the place everyone who’s anyone hits 20-plus dwelling runs, that margin for error is even smaller. How small? You might argue it is nearly nil, and I’ve theorized such. This public sale put it to the take a look at, although.
Straight away, it grew to become clear Heath Cummings and I entered with the identical technique: go laborious after the 4 tremendous aces (which, for the uninitiated, are Clayton Kershaw, Max Scherzer, Corey Kluber and Chris Sale). When the bidding reached $40, the 2 of us went forwards and backwards, and I blinked first in every occasion, not desirous to blow out my prescribed funds. Heath wound up with three of the 4 (all however Sale). I wound up with none.
Undeterred, I made a decision to seize as most of the second-tier beginning pitchers — all aces in their very own proper — as I might, understanding I might nonetheless avoid the shortage at that place whereas additionally leaving myself with extra money to fill out the remainder of my beginning lineup. Collectively, Heath and I bought eight of the consensus high 17 beginning pitchers, giving us a giant benefit on the place the place there’s arguably the largest benefit available. It is simply that Heath’s 4 (Kershaw, Scherzer, Kluber and Justin Verlander) ate up $180 of his $260 funds whereas my 4 (Madison Bumgarner, Zack Greinke, Noah Syndergaard and Dallas Keuchel) consumed solely $124.
On the opposite facet of the coin was Chris Towers, who forsook pitching for high-end hitting, investing 75 % of his funds in Jose Altuve, Nolan Arenado, Charlie Blackmon, Gary Sanchez and Aaron Choose. He needed to go the thrifty route at beginning pitcher, and it exhibits, along with his two costliest each presenting main danger and the remainder of his employees providing little to no chance of high-end manufacturing. That is to not say Tanner Roark and Dinelson Lamet aren’t helpful or intriguing, but when they’re among the many greatest he has, his drawback is just about locked in.
I spent considerably much less on hitting than Chris, however what? I feel mine is fairly good. I nonetheless acquired top-two gamers at two of the scarcest positions, catcher and second base, and 6 hitters in all who would go off the board within the first eight rounds of any draft. My outfield is weak, nevertheless it’s aggressive sufficient.
After which there’s Heath, who left himself subsequent to nothing to spend on hitting, and as you may count on, the hitter portion of his lineup is … wait, what?
H-how did he do this?
Do not get me incorrect: It is the worst assortment of hitters among the many three groups, however extra due to draw back than upside. Each one in every of his beginning 9 belongs in a beginning 9 on this league, and solely two value him double-digit . Not a one value him as a lot as $15.
Positive, there are potential pitfalls, particularly given the age of among the hitters. However the 2018 season will not go incorrect for all of them, and the place it does go incorrect, he has loads of different locations to show. Shoot, I acquired Ryan Zimmerman and Mike Moustakas on my bench for a buck every simply because it appeared loopy no one needed them after the numbers they only put up. Nevertheless it’s not like I’ve a spot to play them. Might Heath make me a gorgeous supply if it got here to that? Yeah, he in all probability might. And I am in all probability not the one one with that type of hitter extra, a few of which (by the way in which) is bound to wind up on the waiver wire.
Backside line is it will take considerably much less for his lineup to measure as much as mine than my pitching to measure as much as his — and I say that even understanding my pitching is clearly the second greatest. And whereas Heath might have taken it a bit too far with the $15 he spent on Jon Lester, I got here away pondering I personally ought to have gone farther.
There’s simply an excessive amount of interchangeability amongst all however the highest-end hitters to shrug off the large benefits that may be gained from high-end beginning pitchers.
So who all had a front-row seat to this insanity?
