Tumblr media
With Dexmas Month taking off this very Saturday and with the Fabulous Fluff week right on the heels of the official opening (starts Monday the third!), we would like to set and/or clarify a few rules in order to make everyone's life easier and their experience more Dexmas. By everyone we mean you, dear participants, observers, readers and cheerleaders, but also ourselves. Let's have a look at the calendar before we focus on such questions as where to post, how and when.
Tumblr media
TL;DR
Publish anything that fits to our AO3 collection; use the tags; at least try to keep to the set themes and weeks!
But of course nothing can ever be as easy as all that, so let's delve into some details:
WHERE
It would be ideal if your submissions, whenever possible, landed in our Dexmas Month AO3 collection, which opens on October 1st. Of course, we understand that this is not always possible, whether due to the lack of an account or to the non-standard character of the submission itself (art, meta, sets of memes or anything else). Let us rely on the rule of thumb. If it fits, it sits on AO3. If it doesn't fit, it sits on Tumblr, how about that? We will be regularly scouring the #Dexmas Month 2022 tag and reblogging your posts. Although we wouldn't be offended if you sent us a telegram a message or even an ask informing us of your Tumblr-based submission. Especially if it so happens that your post isn't visible in the tag due to Tumblr shenaningans.
We'll also be taking submitted posts and... Listen, if for whatever reason you'd prefer your submission to stay anonymous, we can organize that. Just reach out and we'll think of something, okay?
HOW
This part is easy. Please, use the #Dexmas Month 2022 tag and our theme tags (#Fabulous Fluff, etc.) whenever and wherever possible. If you're not sure of the most appropriate theme tag or your work escapes any attempt at categorizaton due to its character, my, do we have a tag for you! It's #Just Dexmas, but if you forget, don't worry, we'll apply it ourselves.
Why are we so set on those tags and themes? Well, first off, to better find your non-AO3 based work. And also because we'll be doing our best to highlight your submissions throughout the fest on our blog and we'd like to keep some semblance of order among them.
If your work is based on one of the amazing prompts from our Prompt List, then please, remember your prompter kindly in whatever way you can.
WHEN
As you might have already realized, Dexmas Month is divided into four main themes (Fabulous Fluff, Amazing Angst, Smouldering Smut and Audacious AUs), each of them getting it's own week, Monday to Sunday. There is also the Haunted Halloween bonus quest on, well, Halloween.
Fabulous Fluff: October 3-9 #Fabulous Fluff
Amazing Angst: October 10-16 #Amazing Angst
Smouldering Smut: October 17-23 #Smouldering Smut
Audacious AUs: October 24-30 #Audacious AUs
Haunted Halloween: HALLOWEEN (duh!) #Haunted Halloween
Assorted Dexmas: Just October #Just Dexmas
So when should you post your fic/art/whatever else? It would be ideal if you did it according to the set dates, but of course that is not always possible. One always might be late and, of course, not every fanwork will qualify for one of our themes. What then? If you're late for the appropriate week, then just go ahead and post, as long as you do it before the end of the fest. If your submission is an universal, Just Dexmas one, post whenever you deem best.
If you've got any questions, please submit them below in the comments, via ask or by e-mail. If there are enough of those, we'll do a FAQ post within the next few days. As always, you can also contact us through private messaging. Please, be assured that we'll do our best to clarify and help!

Note
I love the memes we're doing but it'd be great if everyone got to take part! Not everyone who reblogs the post from the meme blog gets sent stuff even if they send some out. Clearly we can't be checking who sends and who doesn't, but I think it could help if you brought it up some time to try at least send one to every person that reblogged the meme post? There's plenty of people in the group but then something like this happens and it can throw some people off. Lots of love, you're doing great!
There actually is a rule that if you reblog a meme that means you are agreeing to send as well as receive. The only time that may not work is if the meme of the week is specific to relationships.
For example the one about phone contacts where it’s like send me a ‘#’ and I will tell you my contact name and etc for your character...
That may not make sense for my character to send one to yours if they have never talked past one thread. But other than that, you are right anon, everyone who wishes to participate in Meme Monday and TMI Tuesday needs to be willing to send out questions. Some of you are so great at it, and it definitely has improved from the past, so let’s make sure we are continuing to try and hit up everyone.
Now I understand that sometimes ask limits are hit and sometimes you don’t see everyone who reblogs it, which happens. I try my best to hit everyone up, but I’m sure I miss people as well, so if anyone feels like they are getting skipped over with these things you can talk to me privately and I will be happy to put little reminders in the ooc and such so people are aware and looking out. I want everyone to be able to enjoy it.
And I just want to thank you anon for addressing the issue in a mature respectful way, and please know you can always come to me.
Thank you,
-Admin Rey
