El and Max both having bruised faces here from Billy is some delicious shared trauma, but something else less intentional that I love about this scene is the visible dichotomy of marks left on Max by Billy's and El's hands.

the bruise on her face from Billy backhanding her, and El's handprint momentarily blanched onto her arm from holding her so tight.
