While Vivienne’s grand plan of returning back to Providence Peak to score her wife back had been failing miserably, Vivienne actually wasn’t in a bad place about things. She had signed the divorce papers, visited Ruby’s grave, and started making larger strides at work. She was settling in. It was something that terrified her, especially since everything that had once been Viv’s life in Providence Peak was gone, but she liked to think she was doing okay. Okay energy was exactly what she needed as she made the familiar walk up to Sage’s house, a bottle of sparkling grape juice in her hand. While they were on the road to a divorce, it didn’t mean that Vivienne was going to stop being cordial - or dare she even try to be friendly. At one point in their lives, they had been each other’s everything. They couldn’t be that for each other anymore but Vivienne needed something with Sage. She wasn’t in the position to ask for that, so she knew she would have to weasel her way in. After knocking on the door and being greeted with the sight of a pregnant Sage, Vivienne couldn’t help but smile as she held up the bottle of sparkling juice. “I wanted to bring wine but I thought it would be rude to drink in front of you,” she offered, instantly feeling the familiar burning of her cheeks. God, she needed to chill out. Sage was her ex wife not an old friend. “Sorry, hey.”

Mother’s Day was the bane of Vivienne’s existence. In the last four years, Vivienne used the day as one of her Big Three for escaping from reality (the other two being the day that Ruby died and Ruby’s birthday). It was a day that brought nothing but good memories for her, which immediately made everything in her world feel heavy and dark and lonely and awful... until this year. This year was the first time that Vivienne awoke on Mother’s Day since the death of her daughter and she didn’t feel like her heart was trying to claw its way through her chest. There were a dozen excuses that Vivienne knew she could ramble for why this was, but the real reason was glaringly obvious - and sleeping peacefully next to her. It had been a week of the same routine with the blonde: coming over the second Sage called, spending all of their time together ignoring their issues, and falling into bed together at the end of the night. It was good. It was bad. It was beautiful.
After gathering the guts to push herself out of Sage’s bed, Vivienne made her way into the kitchen. Mother’s Day had to be hard for Sage too, but with her being pregnant? She needed to start having better ones, which was exactly why she on the hunt for whatever breakfast foods she could think of. As she cooked, however, it didn’t stop her mind from wandering in all different directions - what did this mean for the divorce? What did this mean for them? While it was nice having the house all to themselves, where the fuck was Asher and was she okay? Did Vivienne even care if she was after the slap attack that had occurred? Vivienne was so deep in her train of thought and mixing pancake batter in the bowl that she hardly even heard the sound of Sage coming into the kitchen. “Good morning,” she said as a smile slowly grew on her lips. “I thought you deserved breakfast.”

Ever since moving back to Providence Peak, life felt like a complete and total rollercoaster. Between the highs and lows of everyone’s reactions to her presence again and the ease in which she was falling back into things with Sage, she was definitely feeling a thousand different shades of confused. But she was happy, which was why she was clinging to the latter emotion. It was easy to be happy whenever she was splitting her time almost exclusively between Peak Seasons and Sage’s house, which was where she was finding herself. It was late at night and Vivienne knew she probably should be sleeping, but Sage was working another late shift at the bar and well, Vivienne was always going to be a worrying and doting brand of (ex?) wife to the blonde.
At the sound of the door opening, Vivienne glanced over towards the sound from Sage’s couch, a smile gracing her lips. “Well good evening,” Viv chimed as she sat up more from her relaxed positioning in the living room. She swallowed hard whenever her eyes landed on Sage, still finding herself in a state of shock and awe whenever her eyes landed on her wife. She had always and would always be one of the most beautiful women Vivienne has ever come across, and that much was scattered all over her phase. “Good shift? Do I need to crack any drunk skulls?” Vivienne asked, pounding her fists together playfully before she’s laying back on the couch once more.
