You Were My Summer Love
Hello, I have been wanting to read Niall/OC fics the past few days and saw @heyangels moodboard here so I decided to write this tiny little thing. I hope you enjoy!
The breeze filtered through the open windows keeping out the mosquitos and making Rosemary groan from the sweat cooling on her skin. The summer heat was already beating down on her and with the thunderstorms earlier in the day so it was now humid and miserable. The air con was as low as she and Niall could afford and the windows open all around the small one story house, which was more like a cottage, allowing the random breeze to help cool the house a little more.
Rosemary perked up at the sound of the screen door opening and subsequently the front door as well. Niall was home. She jumped up from the couch, her long hair sticking to her back from the sweat. Niall hadn't even been able to drop his guitar case before she was throwing her arms around his neck.
Niall stumbled back with a laugh and wrapped his other arm around her, even though he was carrying his water bottle and phone.
"Hi petal," he greeted her with a kiss to the side of her head.
"Hi, sorry, I know it's hot but I missed you."
Rosemary stepped back with a pout of her lips and giggled when Niall kissed it away.
"It's alright, I missed you today. Tell me about your day."
Rosemary followed Niall through the house and to their bedroom telling him all about the work she was doing with the local activist group while he changed. This summer they were focusing on climate change so she spent the day taking photos of the local forest destruction due to new construction and how that had a negative impact on the environment. Despite not looking at her or focusing solely on her, she could tell Niall was still listening intently and it made her even more giddy to talk about her work.
She was warned from basically every adult in her life not to get involved with a musician and certainly as young as she was when they met. At only twenty three and twenty one respectfully, they were young when they met but they had an instant connection. Four years later, a mortgage and a ring on her finger Rosemary was glad she didn't listen.
"Don't feed him again!" Rosemary called out to Niall as she pulled out the pasta salad and lemonade from the fridge.
"He looked hungry!" Niall defended himself.
Rosemary blinked at Niall. "As much as I love Sir Arnold Naomi, he is a goldfish. He doesn't look hungry and I fed him like two hours ago."
"Don't listen to her," Niall whispered as he poked the fish bowl. "You're smart. That's how you became a Sir."
Rosemary rolled her eyes but ignored her husband as she plated their food and poured a glass of lemonade each. Niall talked about the music he was working on and the bureaucratic decisions he hated. While Niall cleaned up the kitchen, Rosemary decided to shower. All clean and sweet, dressed in a silk nightgown Rosemary walked into the living room. Her heart stopped and started racing at the sight. Niall had dimmed the lights, her favorite strawberry lemonade candle was lit and a Curtis Mayfield record was playing.
"May I have this dance Mrs. Rosemary Colette Horan?" Niall was bent down at the waist with his hand out.
Rosemary giggled as she placed her hand in his. "You may, Mr. Horan."
Niall pulled her in close. Their hands entwined by his shoulder and his free hand on her waist. She ducked her head into the base of his neck as he rested her cheek on her head.
"I wouldn't want to do life with anyone but you," he murmured.
"And I with you."
