Egypt maintains its position as first destination for MENA-based travellers in Q2 of 2018: Wego

Egypt maintained its position as the top destination for MENA-based travellers in the second quarter (Q2) of 2018, according to a research released on Monday by Wego, the online travel marketplace for the MENA area.

The popularity of several tourist locations among visitors from the MENA region is highlighted in this research. The destination rankings are based on the flight and lodging searches made by millions of Wego app and website users in the second quarter of 2018.

Egypt continues to be the top destination, per the survey, thanks to regional tourists' ongoing support, both for leisure and for business.

It went on to say that tourists just can't seem to stay away from this mysterious nation, which is well-known for its historical attractions, gorgeous river cruises, lively marketplaces, and overall value for money.

India, meanwhile, advanced significantly by two positions to take over second spot in Q2 2018 from fourth place in the same quarter of 2017.

According to the survey, this large increase is mainly due to the holy month of Ramadan, which starts in mid-May, and the large number of Indian expats living in the Gulf who choose to return home during this time (or right after).

Similarily, it moved up two spots in Pakistan from position 11 to position 9 for the same reason.

Meanwhile, it was revealed in the report that Saudi Arabia had lost ground.

According to the research, Saudi Arabia was formerly ranked second in Q2 2018 but has now dropped to third place.

The survey noted that domestic and foreign tourists travelling for business, pleasure, and Umrah (lesser pilgrimage) continued to find Saudi Arabia to be a popular destination in Q2.

pernahkah dalam hidupmu terjadi sesuatu yang semula kamu pikir tak mungkin?

Pernah. Adalah ketika kuasa Allah dan Maha BaikNya memberangkatkan saya untuk perjalana spirtual, yaitu ibadah umrah.

Kalau bisa di bilang sepertinya tidak akan mungkin dengan biaya mandiri berangkat di usia muda. Rasanya sebelum itu di penuhi tahun tahun ujian. Tidak langsung bekerja ditempat yang sesuai, ketertinggalan dengan teman sejawat yang sudah karirnya melejit bahkan saya saat itu di kondisikan Allah untuk membiayai keluarga termasuk urusan perkuliahan si bungsu.

Ingat betul masih jadi asdos di gaji 150k/ kedatangan. Dan ini tidak datang setiap saat. Saat mengisi menjadi fasil di mata ajar keperawatan anak 1 kasus di berikan 400k/2 pertemuan. Dan sore hari nya saya harus mengajar privat 2 anak yang dibayar 150k/bulan. Kadang engga jarang alm. Engkong bagi saya uang transport 50k. Dilihat dari sini mana mungkin bisa umrah yang harganya puluhan juta.

Pernah saya sangat berharap saat itu untuk bekerja di perusahaan asuransi. Tapi qodarullah Allah selamatkan karena panggilan menjadi relawan covid sudah lebih awal.

Saat jadi relawan covid pun gaji tidak langsung besar. Dibayar 150k/kedatangan. Bisa dalam sebulan hanya 18 shift. Ini kondisi si bungsu masih menghadapi UN. Mau tidak mau uang digunakan untuk kebutuhan sehari hari dan bantu biaya kelulusan.

Allah berikan jalan lagi rezeki dari pintu lain sehingga bisa menabung. Tapi tidak berhenti di situ. Allah uji dengan covid dan bapak yang beneran di PHK. Sedangkan adik sudah dinyatakan lulus masuk PTN dan harus membayar biaya masuk PTN yang hampir sekitar 8jtan. Ya Allah tidak ada yang tersimpan di rekening saat itu. Bahkan pernah terpaksa harus super irit dengan motor dan beli bensin benar benar mendekati huruf E😭masya Allah kalo di lihat sekarang rasanya engga mungkin banget kan ya itu hidup penuh derita tapi Allah mampukan untuk umrah.

Doa untuk umrah tidak pernah terputus sejak 2017. Karena saya yakin Allah akan mengabulkan setiap permintaan doa hambaNya. Tinggal kita sebagai hamba apakah bersabar atas penantian doa itu.

Satu lagi kita tidak boleh meremehkan kun fayakun nya Allah. Sebab Allah dengan segala Maha Kuasanya bisa memberikan kemungkinan disaat kemungkinan itu tidak mungkin

Hajj 2023: The journey back home

I finished my l4th and last Umrah on Friday-7-Jul-23 and returned to the hotel by 8AM or so. It was a long day, the day before and I needed to get some sleep in. And, thankfully, I slept for an hour or so before waking up to finish adding our name tags for the luggage.

I got the luggage down to the hotel lobby and placed it under the Bus tag for our group. It was our last lunch in Mecca that day and we went straight there post dropping our luggage. Post lunch, I took a quick shower and was ready to board our bus by 2:30PM or so.

We were off to Jeddah - just a couple of hours from Mecca but it took us almost 4 hours to reach Jeddah airport. We wasted an hour or so just sorting things out with the driver who was asking for extra payment for no reason..we finally denied that post speaking to their bosses.

After reaching the airport, we procured 2 bottles of Zam Zam water of 5 litres each - they give one bottle per passport at a price of 8.5 Saudi Riyals. We then quickly proceeded to the main entrance and were inside in like no time. Everything was looking like "this is the last time"... We stood in one of the queues...

Suddenly, this staff member came and called both of us to an empty counter and we were like "aha"... We went there and put our luggage on the weighing machine...and all hell broke loose!

With the weight of water bottles too being added to the weight, we were nearly 8 to 10 kilos over. The man at the counter asked us to move aside and manage our luggage before he could check us in.

We were worried, how would we manage!

After struggling for almost an hour or so, we threw some clothes away, threw one big empty bag away. Gave one of the Zam Zam bottles to someone else for check-in and then finally again got in another queue.

We had 2 couples ahead of us and apparently they too were over with their luggage weight. They decided to pay 300SR each and move forward. We had decided to not pay the first time but we're confident that our luggage was managed well now for us to get through. We kept the hand luggage far away (which was also over weight) and didn't show that at the counter at all. Finally, when our turn came, we were cleared! Ufff...

Now, it was time for immigration and then security check ...both of which were cleared smoothly.

We thought we were done.. BUT!

There was one more check point before we reached the boarding gates - they were weighing all the hand luggage there and I was like "WTF"! As we were nearing that person, we saw him busy with another passenger and we quietly sneaked in without stopping for the luggage check.

And we were in.....

We bought some chocolates from the duty free shop and then bought some dinner from Al Baik before boarding our flight.

The third person in our row, decided to go on the row behind which was unoccupied. That gave us good space in those cramped seats!

By early morning India time, we were in Mumbai and completed all local formalities in no time and we were out of the airport to a family waiting to welcome us with open arms....and garlands..and chocolates...and..love!

We were home by 7:20AM on 8-Jul-23 - the exact date and time when Maa had passed away in 2017!

I had Liver for breakfast and aha....how I hogged that day given we had not had home food for the last 37 days!

We were back HOME!
