hm it did occur to me today that possibly witnessing a whole bunch of nightmare discourse around the already nightmarish spectacle of a man using the legal system to continue to ruin the life of the woman who dared to leave him and call him what he was might be activating certain things for me, a person whose parents' divorce trial took five fucking years

#new york state didn't legalize no fault divorce till like 2010 #is a fun fact i think about every now and then for normal reasons #and like that might sound like it's a formality. like they didn't legalize it but everyone basically acted like it was legal #but no my mom's divorce suit got thrown out by westchester family court in like 1993 & she had to try again in manhattan #but yeah 20 years later we've definitely worked all of the patriarchy out of the system #in fact nowadays it's soooooo tragically biased in favor of women #won't anyone think of the poor men being forced at gunpoint to initiate costly and traumatic legal proceedings #that are virtually guaranteed to have no consequence except continuing to make their main character syndrome their ex-wife's problem #a ny way #i am doing fine and honestly in a weird silver lining way it's kind of nice to be like #'oh i guess i gotta process this' #at a phase of my life where i'm like pretty good at processing things #like. we woulda gotten there eventually i think. #but. u kno. can't spell processing without process
