During the last three years on the day of the @tridenttech “Spring Spin Off” car show, I would have already woken up and began packing the #MINI up and spit shining the last little bit. This was the start of #carshow season for me. Gates open at 8am and I’m usually one of the first in. This year is different. No Spring Spin Off, no hanging with other gear heads, no joking around with @pprmini, no shows lined up throughout summer. I get these badges made up every year for the car shows I enter. Kind of as a memento of the work and experience I have learned over the past couple of years doing car shows. This year, this badge will have to stay on the tool box. I hope that we’ll be able to overcome this Coronavirus and begin a new “normal” where we can enjoy in the very least, hanging out with other humans again. Badge by @minimariracer - look her up! I could never find a decent video, so I made an okay one. Nothing special. Just a startup of a stock internal n18. Sport mode was not activated. Normally, today would have been one of the final days that I would have had to prep ‘Ol Dragonbutt here for the car show circuit that I would do every year. Sadly, due to the Coronavirus it looks like everything is postponed or cancelled. (Rightfully so) I know I’ll miss seeing other enthusiast’s rides that they worked hard on, miss hanging and laughing with club members, hearing stories about cars, and so on. Well, I got the sucker jammed in there. I had to remove the bottom catch can bracket bolt, loosen the top one, wiggle the can in at an odd angle, wiggle the bracket into alignment with the hood switch area, tighten the top screw using a special flexible screwdriver that was designed for military, aircraft engine maintenance, use that same screwdriver to put in the bottom screw and tighten it up. Now I’ve ran into another problem! The strut bar kind of blocks the catch can/PCV tubing that was supplied with the kit! I’ve also realized that I don’t like the color of the bracket and I’m thinking of painting it black. Which means I’ve now got to remove the can. Next on the back log of projects. Installing the @m7speed oil catch can. Didn’t think this would be a challenge, but I found that the can is slightly too large to fit where the instructions say to fit it, if you have an @aemintakes. You’re probably wondering what the loop side of the velcro is for. Well my fellow miniacs, I have an idea on how I’m going to make this work, look great, and not damage or scratch up the firewall and intake.
