NEWS UPDATE: TRIBUNAL DISMISSES APPLICATION BY PARTIES SEEKING TO BE JOINED IN GOV. PETITION SUIT Nsima Ekere & Anor vs. H.E Udom Emmanuel & Ors The tribunal today also listened to an application by parties seeking to joined in the suit as co-respondents. Counsel to the parties seeking to be joined in the suit, Godwin Idoro said as Governorship candidates his parties were interested parties in the suit. Counsel to the Petitioner and all the respondents in their arguments vehemently opposed the application, drawing the attention of the court that such an application only trivialises the whole business of the court. Counsels to all parties were unanimous in their submission that such an application be dismissed with a strong statement discouraging such trivial applications in the future. Ruling on the application, the tribunal insisted that the application is nothing but an abuse of court processes. BREAKING!! NSIMA EKERE SEEKS TO AMEND PETITION FOR A SECOND TIME AT TRIBUNAL. Nsima Ekere & Anor vs. H.E Udom Emmanuel & Ors The Governorship election petition tribunal resumed sitting today, Friday, June 21, 2019. Quick Reminder: Nsima Ekere, at the last adjourned date, had, through his counsel prayed for Extension of Time to obtain Documents and file Responses to the Respondents Applications Counsel to the Petitioner, Okutepa, SAN had prayed the court for an extension of the pre-trial period to enable them prepare their responses to the applications as filed by the Respondents. The counsel to the Respondents, Chief Assam Assam, SAN for the 1st Respondent, Uko Udom, SAN for the 2nd Respondent and Offiong Offiong, SAN for the 3rd Responent were uanimous in their position that they would not oppose the application of the Petitioner except that he cannot predicate his prayers on unsubstantiated allegations against Respondents. The court had yielded to the prayers of the Petitioner and extended the pre-trial period to June 21, 2019 for completion of pre-trial. The court had however frowned seriously at the application of the Petitioner. The court had emphasized that time is of the essence in an election petition case and therefore charged all parties to ensure to abide by the timelines as indicated by the Electoral Act or as directed by the Tribunal. But at the resumed sitting of the tribunal, Nsima Ekere through his counsel is canvassing again to substitute the error-fraught copy of his petition with a clean copy. The same people who accused Jonathan of corruption for fuel subsidy of ₦600 billion are saying it is not Buhari's fault when his fuel subsidy is double the cost at ₦1 trillion. The same people who accused Jonathan of tribalism for appointing just an Ijaw man as NSA are the same men rationalising why the entire 10 intelligence and law enforcement agencies in Nigeria, along with the heads of the Executive, Legislature and Judiciary are headed by Northern Muslim men.
