⊳  childhood bffs, art buddies

     hayden was meeting up with one of his longest friends. the two make sure to hang out every once in a while to keep their friendship kicking. most of the time, the two are just sitting in deja brew just doing their own thing but enjoying each other’s company and talking. today was one of those days. lately he had noticed that tommy was a bit strange around him. their actions were a little more…. affectionate?? that was strange coming from them. especially of the stories he’s heard about tommy being not being very… attentive ? hayden decided that he wouldn’t bring it up today, he didn’t need to. if his friend wanted to give him attention, he didn’t mind. the artist pulled out his tablet. he was sat at a table by the window, iced coffee on the left side of the tablet.

       he was currently working on a piece that reflected the negatives and the positives of the society we live in. hayden had a hard time, was the world we live in good at all?? he decided to put a pause on the piece when he heard a few women fawning over someone who just walked in. he glanced up before realizing it was just tommy and he tilted his head back down to look at the drawing. he knew that tommy would find him after they had placed their order. once he realized he couldn’t think of anything, he ended up staring at them. it brought him back to high school. they were his awakening of realizing that he sure as hell isn’t straight. did he ever tell them?? hell no. will he ever? most likely not. that is a secret that must be kept. he didn’t realize he was lost in a train of thought, staring off at the tall figure walking towards him. 

            𝐓𝐎  𝐁𝐄  𝐀𝐅𝐅𝐄𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐀𝐓𝐄  𝐖𝐀𝐒  𝐍𝐎𝐓  𝐒𝐎𝐌𝐄𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐆  𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐓  𝐇𝐀𝐃  𝐁𝐄𝐄𝐍  𝐖𝐑𝐈𝐓𝐓𝐄𝐍  𝐈𝐍  𝐓𝐎𝐌𝐌𝐘’𝐒  𝐃𝐍𝐀  ,  𝐒𝐎𝐌𝐄𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐆  𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐘  𝐇𝐀𝐃𝐍’𝐓  𝐖𝐈𝐓𝐍𝐄𝐒𝐒𝐄𝐃  𝐁𝐄𝐓𝐖𝐄𝐄𝐍  𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐈𝐑  𝐏𝐀𝐑𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐒  ,  𝐌𝐀𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆  𝐓𝐇𝐄  𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐂𝐄𝐏𝐓  𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐈𝐑𝐄𝐋𝐘  𝐋𝐎𝐒𝐓  𝐎𝐍  𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐌  .  for  all  their  life  ,  they  questioned  whether  they  were  capable  of  loving  another  or  even  going  so  far  as  to  care  about  a  person  .  at  their  age  ,  they  hadn’t  felt  the  thrumming  in  their  chest  ,  the  stumbling  over  words  or  the  butterflies  associated  with  ROMANCE  .  they  only  knew  the  things  they  wanted  &  they  took  them  freely  without  any  regret  or  consequence  .  breaking  hearts  had  almost  become  a  hobby  of  theirs  by  now  .  not  to  say  that  they  weren’t  curious  about  the  act  of  love  ,  because  they  were  .

            as  they  placed  their  order  ,  their  eyes  scanned  the  area  in  an  attempt  to  find  hayden  ,  their  oldest  friend  ,  someone  they  had  known  all  their  life  .  a  normal  person  wouldn’t  dare  to  tread  across  such  well-established  boundaries  ,  but  tommy  had  never  been  that  person  ,  preferring  to  shake  up  what  little  normalcy  they  knew  .  thus  starting  a  domino  effect  of  what  could  be  considered  ❛  PRACTICE  ❜  ,  an  attempt  at  giving  a  person  what  they  wanted  ,  just  to  see  if  it  was  possible  to  make  them  happy  .  who  better  to  test  it  on  than  their  best  friend  ?  the  fact  that  hayden  was  gorgeous  wasn’t  lost  on  tommy  either  .  with  their  own  order  ,  along  with  hayden’s  usual  &  an  extra  pastry  ,  they  sat  down  across  from  him  ,  trying  to  snap  him  out  of  whatever  daze  he  was  in  .  ❝  hey  !!!  you  awake  in  there  ?  ❞  they  offered  with  an  airy  bout  of  laughter  ,  ❝  i  got  you  your  ice  coffee  &  something  to  eat  .  yes  ,  i’m  wonderful  &  i’m  waiting  for  you  to  PRAISE  me  .  ❞

𝘼𝙏𝙇𝘼𝙎:

Being bold with his comments and his advances was sort of Atlas’ bread and butter. You couldn’t get what you wanted if you didn’t go after it, right? And Atlas always got what he wanted. (Mostly, within reason, some times. In his own mind, maybe). Right now, what he wanted was standing in front of him, all six foot of them looking at him with those eyes and that pout trying to challenge him. And if they didn’t want him too they wouldn’t have followed him out into the store room, right? The fact that something as simple as a butt pinch getting this kind of reaction out of Tommy was pretty fucking delicious.

 Simply out of habit, Atlas brought his vape up to his lips, inhaling as the other spoke to him. Chuckling out, the younger man shook his head, the smoke leaving his lips and starting to fill the bottom half of the room with just how high he had the machine turned up. “Do you want to find out?” He challenged in return, some residual smoke still spilling out as his lips moved. Taking a step forward there was barely a foot of space between the two, and with Tommy’s back against the door there was nowhere for them to go. At least not without them awkwardly shuffling out and being weird about it, which didn’t really seem like Tommy’s style. “You don’t think I would worry about you? I’m hurt, really. Wounded.”

            𝐆𝐑𝐀𝐃𝐔𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐘  ,  𝐀𝐒  𝐓𝐇𝐄  𝐌𝐎𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐒  𝐁𝐄𝐓𝐖𝐄𝐄𝐍  𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐌  𝐒𝐋𝐈𝐏𝐏𝐄𝐃  𝐁𝐘  ,  𝐓𝐎𝐌𝐌𝐘  𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐆𝐎𝐓  𝐀𝐋𝐋  𝐀𝐁𝐎𝐔𝐓  𝐇𝐎𝐖  𝐋𝐎𝐍𝐆  𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐘  𝐇𝐀𝐃  𝐁𝐄𝐄𝐍  𝐀𝐖𝐀𝐘  𝐅𝐑𝐎𝐌  𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐈𝐑  𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐊  𝐀𝐑𝐄𝐀  .  fortunately  ,  this  was  normal  enough  fare  for  them  &  they  would  be  able  to  toss  it  up  to  losing  track  of  time  .  as  long  as  no  one  found  out  that  it  was  because  of  a  BOY  that  they  slipped  away  for  so  long  ,  it  would  be  fine  .  or  so  they  tried  to  reassure  themselves  ,  while  their  brain  screamed  at  them  to  back  away  &  get  back  to  work  .  to  be  a  child  brought  up  on  nothing  but  religious  guilt  was  a  daunting  burden  to  bear  indeed  .

            ❝  not  just  yet  ,  no  .  you  haven’t  even  taken  me  out  to  dinner  yet.  tsk  .  ❞  their  focus  drifted  from  atlas  to  the  smoke  filling  the  room  ,  almost  rolling  their  eyes  in  a  knee-jerk  reaction  .  of  course  he  vaped  .  atlas  was  almost  a  comical  stereotype  of  every  gen  z  meme  they  had  ever  run  across  on  the  internet  .  &  yet  ,  there  they  were  ,  still  contemplating  allowing  him  to  step  closer  &  closer  ,  until  they  were  FLUSH  .  ❝  honestly  ?  no  ,  i  don’t  .  you  seem  like  you  only  care  about  yourself  .  .  .  which  is  fine  .  i’m  the  same  way  .  ❞  suddenly  struck  with  an  idea  ,  tommy  stepped  forward  ,  hand  held  out  .  ❝  so  ,  since  we’re  bonding  now  ,  share  ?  it’ll  be  almost  like  we’re  kissing  .  ❞  they  smiled  softly  ,  eyes  wide  ,  almost  pleading  ,  but  still  mysterious  &  devilish  .

            her  beauty  was  enough  to  make  tommy  act  on  an  impulse  they’ve  never  had  before  :  a  desire  for  a  muse  .  any  time  their  gaze  fell  upon  lottie  ,  the  urge  to  both  hold  her  &  capture  her  frame  on  canvas  was  near  undeniable  .  so  while  it  wasn’t  like  them  to  ask  for  anything  ,  they  found  themselves  offering  a  voiced  suggestion  ,  hoping  she’d  take  them  up  on  it  .  she  surprisingly  agreed  &  soon  enough  ,  they  were  both  in  tommy’s  apartment  (  surprisingly  without  any  ulterior  motives  on  their  part  )  .  noticing  she  had  brought  something  along  with  her  ,  tommy  allowed  his  eyes  to  fall  upon  the  items  before  bringing  them  back  up  to  her  face  ,  ❝  what  did  you  bring  me  ?  ❞  a  MISCHIEVOUS  smile  ,  normal  for  them  ,  graced  their  lips  ,  opting  for  the  demanding  question  rather  than  a  greeting  .

𝘼𝙏𝙇𝘼𝙎‌:

Atlas noticed the way Tommy fumbled with the small jug of milk as it frothed for another annoying customer, causing a feeling to bubble up in the pit of his stomach. What feeling? He couldn’t be sure. It’s not something he could say that he felt very often. As if the pinch to the other’s behind was a drive by, he continued on his walk through the shop, making his way out to the back room to milk his time for all it was worth before the start of his shift. It only took seconds before the door was being opened behind him, and Atlas was surprised when he was soon joined by the other, chewing on his cheek as they made eye contact. He was… Something else. Tall with broad shoulders, plump lips that were just begging for Atlas to bite them. Pushing the thoughts swirling around in his head to the side for the moment, Atlas chuckled out at the compliments that were returned to him.

“I can take them off if they’re bothering you that much” Atlas teased in a light tone, a grin across his soft lips as he leaned against wall to the side of him, crossing his arms over his chest casually with his vape held in his fingers. The thought of Tommy being distracted by him was… Definitely welcome, and he already had a few ideas present in his mind of ways he could take advantage of that fact. Clearly the rips in his worn down, dark jeans were doing their job. “We can’t have you distracted on the job, I think that’s a safety hazard or something.” Not that Atlas cared about any of that shit, because honestly even looking at Tommy was a hazard to his own safety.

            𝐖𝐈𝐓𝐇  𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐈𝐑  𝐁𝐀𝐂𝐊  𝐒𝐄𝐓𝐓𝐋𝐄𝐃  𝐀𝐆𝐀𝐈𝐍𝐒𝐓  𝐓𝐇𝐄  𝐃𝐎𝐎𝐑  ,  𝐓𝐎𝐌𝐌𝐘  𝐅𝐄𝐋𝐓  𝐀𝐊𝐈𝐍  𝐓𝐎  𝐒𝐎𝐌𝐄𝐎𝐍𝐄  𝐋𝐎𝐒𝐓  𝐎𝐔𝐓  𝐀𝐓  𝐒𝐄𝐀  ,  𝐀𝐋𝐎𝐍𝐄  &  𝐎𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐖𝐇𝐄𝐋𝐌𝐄𝐃  .  atlas  was  the  overbearing  ocean  ,  threatening  to  swallow  them  whole  ,  until  they  were  surrounded  by  nothing  but  icy  BLACKNESS  .  they  could  step  away  ,  enjoy  the  rest  of  their  break  &  be  at  peace  once  again  .  but  tommy  had  never  been  one  to  self-preserve  ,  preferring  to  walk  the  lines  of  chaos  .  to  be  safe  was  to  be  boring  &  they  would  rather  die  right  there  in  the  backroom  of  deja  brew  than  be  boring  .

            carefully  ,  they  watched  atlas  ,  head  slightly  tilted  as  they  took  in  the  view  of  him  .  his  features  weren’t  conventionally  attractive  ,  yet  that  somehow  added  to  his  charms  &  made  him  that  much  more  irresistible  .  while  he  was  shorter  ,  he  still  managed  to  appear  bigger  than  most  ,  whether  it  was  due  to  his  loud  personality  or  his  muscular  form  .  it  was  intriguing  to  say  the  least  ,  leaving  tommy  with  a  shallow  desire  to  figure  him  out  ,  wondering  if  there  was  more  to  him  than  the  typical  BRAVADO  he  showed  off  .  ❝  would  you  really  be  that  bold  ,  atlas  ?  ❞  they  don’t  make  any  more  mention  of  it  ,  not  wanting  to  risk  either  of  their  jobs  for  some  silly  game  .  as  far  as  they  knew  ,  atlas  wasn’t  worth  the  trouble  even  if  the  desire  to  find  out  was  starting  to  trump  whatever  logic  they  had  .  ❝  how  sweet  of  you  to  be  worried  about  me  .  personally  ,  i  would  love  to  hear  any  suggestions  you  have  .  ❞  already  ,  the  voice  in  the  back  of  their  head  was  nagging  them  ,  to  step  away  before  making  any  possible  MISTAKES  that  they’d  regret  later  .  they  had  never  been  very  good  at  listening  to  advice  though  ,  not  even  their  own  .
