Okay, totally weird, talked to Em and Bai, but I replied to everything on the 6th here, and for some reason tumblr didn’t show it on the dash or to anyone I'd replied to, so if you think I owe something to you, double check my blog or ask me about it because at the moment I only owe things on Lottie and Meg. Nani was the one that was weird. Sorry guys, love ya!

With a clear list figured out in a few notes, Nani was working on condensing it as she paused to send out a few messages -- some in response, some just in thought. With her trying to take time more for David, she thought she could take time for some others as well, like Tramp for instance. And Andrina, but she hasn’t seemed to be around in awhile. Busy she guessed, and busy she could understand, after all her life had been exactly that way for six yeas almost exactly. But, she still messaged and waited to see if she’d hear anything back from all of them as she made sure to move items around and come up with her usual comprehensive list. Much better.
Looking up at the chirp of Alice’s soft, bright voice, Nani glanced first at her and then at the tea that was set in front of her. Iced just like that tea was and perfect, hopefully. The Danish was about half gone at that point, since she’d been working more on her list than focusing on eating, but it was still being eaten, so hopefully that was appreciated as she gave her thank you and took a sip with a smile. “I shouldn’t be here much longer, so don’t worry about turn around. I’ll be gone soon.” She knew how that worked and because of that she did extra things out of respect just to help her fellow servers, showing them they were respected. At least that was her intention.

“That’s kind of you to say,” the brunette smiled in acknowledgement of Bonnie’s words and she slid her hands in her pockets. “He’s the best guy I’ve ever known, so if I deserve him, I must be pretty special myself.”
Tumblr media
“I’m happy that you didn’t! That’s great, Nani. You deserve only good things in life.” Even if she knew David in name only from Lilo and Stitch, Nani was one of the nicest and most selfless people that she had ever met. She couldn’t imagine anyone purposely hurting her.

“I think he was,” her eyes flickered almost in telling, but she couldn’t help the slight smirk on her lips until she tried to turn it into a smile. Not exactly the kind of thing she goes around telling, but she was happy, and couldn’t help the way she was reacting. Walking in when Lady opened the door, Nani shrugged. “Something light. Probably a salad or smoothie. Anything greasy would defeat the purpose of running.”
Tumblr media
“Exactly! I’m sure he was thrilled,” she hummed and smiled. She giggled along with Nani and started in the door. She held it open and looked back. “Do you know what you want?”

“Like I would keep those around the house, you should have seen what Stitch did with the chainsaw,” it was not an episode to be repeated. None of it really was. But for one reason or another, she knew he’d never lose that part of him, it might draw back, but watching Tramp who was older and seeing other males do the same alongside herself still having some of those childish urges to mess around, she was sure it would last longer. Maybe never go away. “And yet it’s in Latin, which is foreign,” she chuckled slightly and looked over at him with a dull smirk. “Oh wonderful,” but then she rolled her eyes with another chuckle. “Nice to know I’m still attractive even in this mess,” her nose crinkled and she shook her head. Oh Tramp, he’d never change either. Not completely. That she was quite sure of as she walked away and returned after visiting other tables and bringing him his food along with hers. Setting his down before sliding across from him and removing her half apron. Nani eased into it. “I prefer pineapple, but it doesn’t have such a nice ring to it, does it.” The girl tried to have humor, but it was difficult. She did, however, see him eyeing her onion rings before he commented. “Sure, go ahead, but only if I can have a couple fries,” Nani paused, then she added with a bit more of a smirk, “quid pro quo.”
Tumblr media
“Just remind me to keep you away from any axes.” He snorts, picking up and wielding the butter knife from his place setting, he takes a few playful swipes with it then sets it back onto the table. Without the pyramid of mini-cup creamers to soothe his itching hands, he moves onto the sugar packets - rearranging them according to color and then dumping them out, mixing them up, then doing it all over again. And all the while his knee continues it’s jogging under the table. “Quid pro quo. It’s not exactly a foreign concept,” Tramp replies without looking up from his self-appointed task, “No catch. Your sunny demeanor is more than enough. Plus, I like lookin’ at ya.” He shrugs his shoulders, a chuckle threatening to bubble from between his lips. He watches her buzz about for a few seconds and accepts his drink from her with a smirk, before finishing up with the sugars. By the time she returns to the table with his food, he’s using the packets, the mini-cups, and his utensils to build another sort of structure. He plucks his fork from it’s precarious perch and wipes it off on a napkin before using it. “You’re a peach.” He stabs at his the dish with the prongs of his fork. “Please tell me you’re feeling uncharacteristically generous today too.” He adds, eyeing her onion rings.

“Hey careful, highly doubt you want your bed stained with polish and acetone, it’ll stink forever. You know, worse than it does now,” she smirked cheekily as she took hold of both bottles to prevent that from happening while she looked over at him. “Coming from you? That’s rich,” Nani laughed as he tutted at her as though he was chiding her. “Right of course, though, does anyone really trust that? At least they wouldn’t ask me if I’ve had the experience,” her nose crinkled and she quirked her brows playfully while she let the coat dry. “Chinese sounds great and sure, why not for the movie? We talking orange chicken and sticky rice with lo mein and egg rolls?” Really she’d go for anything so all that mattered was what he wanted at that point. She wasn’t the most picky of eaters.
Tumblr media
Tramp gives a playful roll of his eyes but doesn’t bother giving any other sort of response, least of all an explanation. He throws himself back onto the mattress, his brown eyes continuing where they had left off only moments again, tracing the natural patterns made in the white stucco.  “No need to be so vulgar.” He clucks his tongue and wags a finger at her in mock disapproval. “I think writing it in bathroom stall just under ‘for a good time call’ would do the trick.” With that he rolls onto his side, his chin cupped in one hand. “I’m thinking Chinese from that hole in the wall at Pacific Wharf and Repo! The Genetic Opera.” He wags his brows in a way that’s meant to make the whole thing more appealing, yet another smirk threatening to spread across his thin lips.

“Pretty great and taken care of. I wouldn’t be so impressed, though, probably would have handed it down and bought a new one if I had the cash to. But when this one works fine, then, I don’t see the need with it.” A shrug rolled her shoulders. “But I do have to ask, is this only for your benefit or are you expecting some form of payment? Don’t have much in the way of money, but if there’s something you want, like a few of these cheese fires, you’re welcome to it.” She gestured to the plate beside her.

As she spoke, Wilbur’s dark eyes swiftly surveyed the laptop in front of her. It was definitely old — ancient, in terms of tech. However, he was undaunted. “Well, as much as I wish I could magically add some parts and make something old brand new, computers do not work that way. But! I can make this one run a bit better, I bet. It has to be pretty great to run as long as it has.” His gaze returned to her. “Honestly, I’m really impressed you’ve held out with it so long. Most people would’ve gotten a newer one ages ago.”

“Exactly, and when sometimes he only gets an hour of my time or not even, four days is kind of a big deal,” she shrugged lightly. The only ones who always see her daily are Lilo and Stitch, though, she’d like to turn that around, at least with David. “Of course she does especially at her restaurant,” Nani chuckled. “Sure, I don’t think I’ve sweated too much and they can deal; food would be good. You first.”
Tumblr media
“You have to start somewhere, right?” she smiled. Making up for lost time would take some…well, time, but she was sure that slowly but surely, they would make it through. “Flo knows what’s best, I’m sure,” she giggled. “Sure, let’s get some breakfast.”

“Yeah, everything is much better now.” She was never highly verbal about her relationships at least when they started, but it sat on the tip of her tongue as she wondered if Bonnie even knew who he was. “Yeah, I thought I’d lost my best friend, and it turns out I haven’t, and now he’s much more than that... in labels where he’s kind of always been more than that, yanno?”
Tumblr media
“They have? That’s great!” she grinned before taking another gulp of water. After swallowing it, she continued. “I’m happy for you, and glad that you aren’t so down anymore.”

Honestly, Nani didn’t know how she looked like she needed it, so that sort of made her lips purse a moment considering she was in a good mood and was just trying to piece through some things, but she didn’t argue and instead carried on. “If you insist,” why look a gift horse in the mouth anyway? So that slight confusion turned to a warm gratitude and she smiled a bit more as the girl side she deserved it. Maybe she did, but that didn’t mean she always had to take free food. It was a matter of pride, however, she still took it when the girl handed it over and set it upon the table with its plate before looking back at the blonde and nodding. “Take your time,” she breathed for the second time in the matter of minutes, but that didn’t bother her as she carried on and picked at her danish with her fingers, breaking it into a bite from one edge while she waited for a chance to put it in her mouth and swallow it when the blonde would walk off again since she didn’t know if something else would be said that she’d want to or would have to answer. Still, though, she smiled over at the girl. “And again, don’t worry about the Danish.”

“Yeah, me, too. And I think giving him Wednesday through the weekend let him know I will make sure to give him the time, even if it’s not nearly as much as he deserves,” at least that was her thought in doing so anyway beside just wanting to be with him. Nani was going to do everything in her power to let him know he was wanted with her. Extra texts, having him spend nights with her at the Pelekai home, spending nights over there in his apartment. Eventually inviting him to move in... It was all ideas that she’s had that seemed to be more prominent now and definitively more likely. “Yeah, I think Flo was excited I even asked because I hardly had to spit more than a few words out. One of the shortest phone calls of my life,” she chuckled. “Great. Wanna go in, then?”
Tumblr media
“Oh, no! I’m so glad you did when you did!” Lady’s grin only grew wider as Nani gave her more information. “I’m so happy for you guys! I knew it would work out, and besides, you deserved those days off. I was worried about you, that’s all. It’s what friends do,” she shrugged. “I could eat, yes.”

“Honestly good luck getting this old piece of hardware to run any faster.” She got it about eight years ago during high school so she’d have a place to write her papers while her father used the desktop for work at home. “It’s eight years old, I don’t think you’ll get much out of it not like anything new.”
“Man, your laptop is so slow. Seriously, just let me see it for a sec and you’ll graduate from snail’s pace to warp speed. C’mon — it’s literally painful to watch in its current state. Don’t prolong its suffering! Or mine, for that matter.”

The first few minutes were spent with fingers upon her temples, warding off the impending headache as each thought rushed forward and she tried to sort them. The simultaneous attack was hardly helping, but when she soothed her head enough, she pulled out her phone. No messages -- both good and bad, but neither here nor there as she opened her most used app, Notepad. The first step was to write all of the thoughts down, then organize them in separate notes with importance and what they applied to such as a grocery list or various other tasks that needed to be completed, but she was momentarily distracted with a random message with David that she paused to reply to immediately before going back to notes. Even if it was something he’d text her any time, she had to smile at it... This opened door, this relationship now... she couldn’t be happier with it. A moment later, though, she was back to working through her thoughts and was close to a finish by the time she looked up and saw Alice approaching with a face that seemed a bit upset. It was a bit concerning, but Nani couldn’t fathom what might have upset her until she spoke and her brows knit. “Oh, no, you don’t have to worry about it. I’ll still pay for it. I’m sure it’s good, kind of hard to find fruit that doesn’t go together anyway,” Nani offered an encouraging smile and held her hand out for the Danish as she waited for the drink and her phone’s light shut off from leaving it idle for the time being. “No big, really.”

“Ouch, not my fault we’re both competitive,” Nani chuckled as she looked over at the quirky redhead. She did note the laughter, though, it was off. Probably because she blocked her nose as though Nani smelled, and she didn’t -- not that bad, but when you ran and sweat... there was only one response for her body despite the right amount of deodorant. Oh well, she took the water bottle and opened it up to down as much as she could before speaking again. “Mm, thanks. About five. Would have done more, but I haven’t worked myself too much lately, so I have to work up to more.” The girl was usually suited well for a marathon. “What’s she been up to, though I haven’t seen her much even before my break down.”
Tumblr media
It didn’t take much for the smell of sweat rolling off the young wahine in waves to reach Ariel’s nostrils — a small wrinkle of her nose the redhead’s only give away before she teasingly pinched the bridge of it and cut off her own air flow.  ❝I’m not even sure who’s worse after a workout, you or Andrina,❞ she joked, her laughter sounding nasally and lacking the musical tone to it that it usually held as she retrieved a cold water from her bag and proffered it out to Nani with her free hand.  ❝How many miles was it today?❞

“You’re welcome” Nani offered as best of a smile as she could while she nodded in response. “Got it, if there’s questions and concerns, contact the department and ask for you,” the brunette nodded again. “It was nice meeting you, sorry I couldn’t offer you too much of a response or more detail. Things have been... all over, but it’s been nothing with him, he’s actually been pretty good, which I’m thankful for. Anyway, see you around I guess? And have a nice day.”
Judy regained her composure, nodding almost brusquely at Nani’s thanks. She had struggled with professionalism her whole career- for some reason, everyone in the department assumed that women got too emotional and irrational to do any kind of field work, and Judy only proved them right. “Right. That’s good to hear, ma'am,” Judy checked a box on her form. “I think that’s everything, then. Thank you for your time. Oh, and remember, if you have any concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact the Carthay Police Department! Make sure to ask for Officer Hopps,” the short girl grinned. It still felt good saying that.

Oreo pie was certainly delicious, but she was a fruit girl. Always had been. Especially with desserts let alone in general. The way Bonnie responded, though, to her agreeing, had to make her laugh though. “Right. Best gift I could probably ever give you, but! I can also give you that smile for your graduation party you were asking about. Things have really turned around.”
Tumblr media
“Cherry pie it is,” she smiled. Though Bonnie preferred things like chocolate or oreo pie, cherry was just as good. Bonnie’s was good, but her mom’s was even better. “Thanks, Nani. I appreciate you not giving me a heart attack.” Since last year was her senior year, she filled her spare classes with art and future educators.

“Right, got it. Thanks,” Nani breathed with an easy smile and closed her eyes as Alice walked away, sifting through her thoughts as her fingers tapped upon the table ever so slightly. The Danish wasn’t all that uncommon of her and the tea was something she got sometimes but there were other drinks she chose, too. Tea just was not her favorite drink, so there were only a couple she liked. She was always, always more of a coffee girl. Kona coffee was in er blood. Honestly, as she sat there, she was working on a checklist, trying to think of what she’d done that morning and what else needed to be done There was an application run, most of those stored in her bag and the ones finished turn in, and then there was some shopping to do, but she had to make sure she did everything so they were set. And that took thought even when she had it all written down -- sometimes things weren’t on the list when they should be. That was exactly what she was trying to figure out. At least soon she’d have something to drink.
