An excellent longfic with a terrifying, high stakes and exciting plot with so much conflict and moral dilemmas, despite the happy ending. This Domeric is such a lovingly crafted character who fits both with what kind of person house Bolton would have created and with what Theon needs right now so well. It's particularly very interesting to see the external perspective on Theon's crimes of someone who isn't loyal to the Starks but who does judge them morally, and their different experiences of being alienated from their families through fostering is a great bonding experience. His efforts to protect him from his brother are so sweet and this is extremely satisfying both as a romance and as introspection/redemption. Bonus points for a great Kyra and Jeyne!

A beautiful character study of a terrifying family dynamic. This fic is about Theon and Maron and is aware that to talk about them it has to also be about Maron and Rodrik and about Rodrik and Aeron and about Aeron and Urri and about Aeron and Balon and about Rodrik and Victarion about Theon and Asha and about all these kids and the shadow of the rest of the Iron Islands, which is both a judgemental presence and a wild jarring introduction to the idea that maybe, somewhere, there are families where people love each other and life doesn't have to be this hard. The bullying, the competition, the cycle of violence and dismissal and yet craving for affection is all delineated so painfully and climaxes in a very touching moment shortly before Maron's death, where Theon finds how hard it is to reconcile love and anger, desire for revenge and desire to fix things
