I think what is missing to Vash fan characterization most of the time is the horror of what he is and the fear that goes with it.

Like how, with vashwood, everyone makes Wolfwood to be immediately so accepting of him and worship him or whatever but he does not! He's afraid of Vash. A fear which sticks to his very bones for a good bit of the story.

And it's not unfounded. Vash is a nuclear bomb in flesh. We've seen what kind of damages he could do, be it either with Knives or Vash's own, unwilling, use of the angel arm.

Who, Vash included, wouldn't be afraid when faced with that reality.

I want y'all to think about the horror of aging too fast then not at all. The horror of your body becoming so unstable it's unrecognizable, wild and out of your control. Of being afraid of hurting anyone and having the raw power to level entire cities if you don't keep yourself in check perfectly. The horror of no one, not even yourself, understanding what you are.

The alienation of it all.

So about the new Trigun Stampede lore drop that happened at the Momo-con Panel (SPOILERS!!)

I needed to get my thoughts out about what's gonna potentially happen in season 2 below the cut before I explode but essentially it boils down to:

Vash is screwed.

Remember how the manga explained why Vash was being chased by Earth authorities? It was for being associated with Knives who over the course of the story becomes a fugitive in the eyes of Earth.

Orange is now changing things up a bit more after dropping this:

Apparently, Julai wasn't the first one to get hit by the Drain Gate.

The first plant experiment specimen not only had the ability to take things out of the higher plane, but also the Drain Gate which they used to demolish the lab they were contained in.

It was also confirmed in the panel that engineers deliberately got rid of the Drain Gate after the incident so it would never happen again.

... And Vash willingly activated it in episode 12 where he proceeded to OBLITERATE JULAI.

GUYS......

VASH IS SCREWED.

i hate how Satoru always willing to sacrifice everything he have just to protect others (sorry but i’m gonna hate all of the characters except Gojo for now on)

but in the the end, no one stand up for him, they (the higher ups) always finding ways just to kill him off. everything, EVERY FUCKING THING he DID is NONSENSE

even his students. he will always a monster, a beast, someone that will solve their OWN problems or mistakes and EVERYTHING just because he is THE STRONGEST
