Contextual photojournalism
First task – Identify where news comes from. List five sources where you would see good photojournalism.
news can come from many differetn places including television, internet, book and newspaper. some places you may see photojournalism are the guardian, the telegraph etc and places on tv such as the BBC and STV. on the internet you may see photojournalism on places like social media or on the digital versions of newspapers and magazines such as TIMES magazine, BBC, the guardian etc.
Second task - Choose two established photojournalists from Magnum or a large photo agency and look at four photographs for each photographer. Look at the photographers background and career. Talk about their approach and style of photography. Comment on the effectiveness of storytelling in their work. Take note of some of the issues they may encounter as a photojournalist. What has made them successful in their field of work? (300 words approx.)

Street Style
Plan
For this shoot I want to switch locations during these shoots as I dont want it to look like I have just lined people up to take photos of them. I will pick places that are not too busy so that I can avoid having a crowded background. I will use my Nikon D3400 camera with my 18-55mm lens so that I can adjust focal length. I want my photos to be joined together as a set on a canvas by either colour or expression.
When taking the images I will try to make conversation with the person I am shooting to help them be more comfortable. i will compliment their outfit before i ask them if i can take photos and ask them about their outfit inspirations and key points however i will only do this if they seem comfortable with it. I will try to get a variey of images including full length and detail shots so that i can have a good selection on images.

I thought it was an intersting brief as I am interested in street style however I had never thought about trying to take these images. I am a very quiet person so getting the courage to go up and ask people to take their picture was a challenge for me so I did not take as many photos as I would have liked.

I plan on trying to use framing to draw your eye to the subject in my image and know a few places I would like to try to take images like that. I plan on taking the images with a Nikon D3400 with a 18-55mm lens so that I can zoom in or out when I need to.

Photojournalism
Photojournalism is a genre of photogrsphy that uses images in order to tell a story this is usually used when referring to still images however this term can also apply to video used in broadcasts as well. This genre of photography differentiates itself from other similar genres (e.g street and documentary photography) by its need to remain as honest and as neutral as possible.
The introduction of smaller, faster cameras allowed led to the “golden age” of photojournalism as it allowed photographers to have complete flexibility with what they were taking photos of and due to the faster shutter speed photojournalists were able to capture subjects in motion which they were previously unable to do.
The decisive moment
The decisive moment is a concept used in photography. The decisive moment is the ability to anticipate and capture an important moment in a split second. This photography style requires patience as you will likely be sitting in one place for a long time. There are three important elements when it comes to the decisive moment these are time and anticipation, the composition of the image and the meaning of the image.

Street Style
Street style photography is a genre of fashion photography that focuses on what clothes people are wearing on the street and how they are styling them. Photos are often taken of people attending different fashion weeks and runway shows and events. The location and lighting in the photos are important.
Jonathan Daniel Pryce
Jonathan Daniel pryce is a london based photographer known as Garconjon online. He sells prints and books of his work on his website and his work has also been featured in many magazines such as ID, Vogue, GQ etc.
i like that the colour of the subjects clothes is similar to the surroundings but they still manage to stand out from the background.
i like the lighting and colour in this photo
I like the bright colour of the subject hair which helps him stand out from the background and I also like the engagement with the camera.
Shoichi Aoki
Shoichi Aoki is a Japanese photographer who takes street style images in order to document the fashionable people in Japan. He started in the mid 1990s and managed to capture Harajuku’s transformation from a normal shopping district into a well known fashion hub. He created a few magazines one of which was FRUiTS magazine which was created in 1997 and helped bring a larger western audience to Japanese fashion after some of the photos featured in the magazine became popular. The magazine later became synonymous with Japanese fashion in the west. After 20 years of publication in 2017 Shoichi Aoki made the decision to cease pubication of the magazine controversially stating the he believed there were “no more cool kids to photograph”.
i like the expression in this image as the woman in the photo seems happy to be having her photo taken and seems very engaged with the camera. I feel the colour of her outfit also draws your eye to her.
again the expression of the people in the image is what i like about it.

Sandra Semburg is a fashion photographer from Berlin currently based in Greece. She has shot many campaigns for different brands including Chloe, Sonia Rykiel and Moda Operani. she also often shoots street fashion at different fashion events aroumd the world.
I like this image as i feel that the colour of the womans outfit makes her stand out against the plain background.
I like this image as I feel the colourws in the background and in the persons clothes are similar and they create a nice colour palette.
I like the light and shadows on the clothes in this detail shot.
Tommy Ton
Tommy Ton is a Canadian photographer known for his street style photo coverage of different fashion weeks. inspired by Carine Roitfeld, and Anna Dello Russo.
I like the colour in this image
I like the lighting in this image and I like that the entire image is mostly black and white but his blue nails give a little bit of colour to it.
I like the colour in the photo and that even though it is a detail image the personality of the person in the photo is still clear.

evaluation
the aim of this project was to create a stop motion video with the theme of food. i found editing this project interesting as it was interesting to see photos turn into a video as i had never made a stop motion before though it was also partially annoying as i seen the mistakes i had made when taking the images. in this project i learned how to make a stop motion which included learning how to batch edit photos and make an image sequence in a few different softwares. i would like to make more stop motions to learn more and improve the final result of my stop motions in the future. though i didnt reseach many specific photographers i did watch quite a few stop motion videos on youtube which i feel helped me to decide what i was going to do for my stop motion. when i was shooting my stop motion the camera was too high for me to be able to see what i was shooting which resulted in some images being out of focus and some parts of the video being slightly out of frame next time i do this i will connect my phone to my camera so that i can see the images when taking them to fix these issues. some of my images are slightly out of focus and some are slightly out of frame one of the frames in the video was overexposed despite the light and camera settings not changing which i tried to fix in lightroom. if i were to do this again i would try a different angle or try to add more in the video such as making the cookies at the start as it looks a bit odd for the video to start where it does.

moving image
the aim of this project was to research, plan and make a short video to advertise something. i enjoyed planning and making the video the most as i found it interesting to see how good planning affects the video. i have experienced many new techniques in this project. i would like to learn how to edit better as i was not very sure what i was doing most of the time. i didnt really research speific photographers during this project but i did watch amny different adverts to get inspiration which i feel helped me when planning what type of shots i wanted to do. i feel that my close in shots were more successful than my other shots as i feel they just look a bit better. i did not know how to edit videos at all which became quite a bit of a struggle and i am unsure i managed to crop the video to the correct aspect ratio which i dont think i did though i tried many times to as well as the place being very messy which i did not always manage to spot until after shooting if i were to do this again i wold maybe try it at a different time in the day and i would also have liked to add a few different shots but i was unable to. the video could definetely be improved but for my first time trying to make a video.

Adrien Sommeling
Adrien Sommeling is a conceptual portrait artist based in the netherlands who will often use his photo manipulations to tell a story he works in commercial and advertising photography. i like this image as i feel the lighting matches between the two images and i like the concept of the image as the person at the back of the boat makes me think of the boats in the canals and the background of the image also reminds me of a holiday destinati.I like the detail of the grime on the side of the camera as it makes you think that it has been in the water for quite a while.

to make my lost and found image i used two images i had taken for this brief one of a pond near my house and one of a rubber duck that i had taken in as similar lighting conditions as i could get to the pond photo.

to make the image i edited them in lightroom and then opened the background image in photoshop

i then opened the other image in photoshop and used the pen tool to cut it out and added a layer mask

i then decided to add the refection of the duck in the water to do so i made a selection of the duck and copy and pasted it into a new layer.

i chose this advert as it is one that even though i havent seen for years i remebered it as i thought it was funny it was shown on tv. it usues only a few types of shots but i feel that it works very well for the advert and the advert worked well as it was funny and the person turning everything he touches into skittles works well because of the slogan? at eh end.
