I found this last night and this is another proof of why Miraculous Ladybug YouTube is the dumbest part of the fandom (Chloé stans included)

So I clicked on this video, the one I was telling you about, for comments, I couldn't bring myself to watch it.

I started scrolling through comments and BOY I got to read some ready dumb gems but these are the top three:

Number 3.

Remember when he told Gorilla to throw his son off of the building because he is "overprotective" and "because he cares so much about him" back in season 2 (Chat Blanc happened in season 3) when he thought Adrien was Chat Noir?

He still shows those tiny signs of affection but he did the same thing before Chat Blanc. And abusers always do that. Sometimes they are nice but being nice doesn't mean that he cares. He doesn't care about anyone. Funny how this video is defending abuse victim but these people defend her AND the abuser.

Number 1.

"Can do no wrong"? Bish, Marinette gets salt for breathing while other characters LITERALLY get away with murder.

And also, the akumas Marinette caused are butterfly effect, when something happened out of her reach. Was she mean like Chloé and humiliated people and made fun of them, huh? Did Chloé ever apologised like Marinette? Did Chloé try to help these people and become better person like Marinette?

"Marinette takes advantage of her parents"? What Marinette does to her parents is not taking advantage, what Chloé does to her father IS taking advantage.

And finally, "Ladybug loves sacrificing Chat"?

LADYBUG SACRIFICING HIM?! HE'S the one who keeps sacrificing himself all the time! She doesn't even have that in her plans, he just does that! What's wrong with this person?!

And Gabriel cares about Mayura SO MUCH that he let her use the broken miraculous and she can no longer walk!

In case you were wondering why I never take Chloé stans or ML YouTube seriously. This is so dumb! I couldn't believe what I was reading last night! Someone tell me if I'm watching the same show as these people? Is there another version of Miraculous Ladybug that I haven't heard of? (I know about Chibi).

So here's a thing:

The ML writers are not "failing" when they write Adrien the way they do.

They are in fact, succeeding when they write Adrien the way they do.

In order for the ML writers to "fail" at writing Adrien, that would imply that Adrien's character concept is sending a message they don't agree with--

When in fact, Adrien is sending the exact message they want him to; 90% of their audience has fallen for their message hook, line, and sinker. If you can see Adrien's actions as being horrifying, you are an outlier, and the writers do not want you to count.

The Miraculous Ladybug Writers don't want us to look at Adrien's actions and see them as horrifying--

The Miraculous Ladybug Writers want us to listen to the music cues and see his puppy-dog eyes and sad flattened ears and they want us to 110% support Adrien's behavior, we're supposed to see Marienette's horrified expressions and protests and agree with Adrien-- that Marinette is "just playing hard to get", that if she just gave in and "gave him a chance" she would "admit her true feelings for him".

The Miraculous Ladybug Writers are 45 year old white men who've already admitted that they're fucking creeps that make a self-insert character (Tom) married to a sweet, demure, racist caricature of one of their coworkers, including her name without her having any say in the matter or even knowledge of it until it was already under production (Sabine).

These are 45 year old white men who are fetishizing and mystifying (?) Chinese culture for brownie points and then went and whitewashed their main character so they could sell more toys to a white audience, and then went onto completely disconnect her from her culture so the white boy can explain her culture to her.

Miraculous Ladybug has done exactly what they set out to do, and it's only because you're able to look past what you're told to see what you are shown that anyone in the fandom is able to realize just how fucked up Adrien's behavior is--

Because the writers are winning. They're doing exactly what they set out to do: there's a reason most of the fandom is genuinely convinced Adrien's never even done anything ever, and it takes hundreds of screenshots and gifs straight from the show before people even can begin to realize "hmm, maybe this sunshine child has... Done bad things? Hurt people?"

And then it takes even more examples and stories from real life victims of harassment like what Marienette faces before those same people finally stop scrambling for excuses and realize that Adrien's never going to change because he's never going to admit or even realize he's in the wrong, because the writers insist that he is right.

And that's exactly what they believe too. It's baked into the very core of the show.

So let me get this straight…

Both Miraculous New York and Hack-San have one of the heroes leaving Paris.

But one of them leaves willingly without warning or replacement only for the city to be attacked on what should have been his watch, and pulls a “woe is me” act when he’s called out for it.

And the other at least tries to avoid leaving and when that doesn’t work, makes sure to leave a replacement to handle things, and tries to talk it out with her partner afterwards.

And yet it’s Marinette who is the one in the wrong both times. It’s her job to make Chat feel better both times. Chat, who actively tried to or succeeded in MURDER BOTH TIMES.

If she leaves without telling him, EVEN IF she had someone to replace her and help him, she’s wrong.

If she gets upset with him for leaving without telling her AND that this results in Paris being attacked with no one to help, she’s wrong.

How am I expected to NOT see this as a double standard?

Love triangles—overused and boring trope, right?

Wrong, you just need to get more creative. So buckle up fandom members and tired writers, let’s talk love triangle alternatives.

The Classic Love Triangle, aka the Love V

This is your Bella/Edward/Jacob, your Katniss/Peeta/Gale. It’s been done and overdone. Person A has two people interested in them, and they have to pick which one they like best. Boring!! Let’s spice it up.

The True Love Triangle

To make a REAL love triangle, we need to close the last side. Now all 3 people involved are part of their own classic love triangle. If two people end up together, the third will be double crushed because they just lost both of their potential love interests to each other. Now we’re talking.

This is like Harry/Cedric/Cho, Luna/Neville/Ginny (although not quite since it’s not all at the same time)

The Rivalry Turned Romance

Person A is just minding their own business, uninterested in both person B and person C. Person B and C both like person A though, and somewhere along the way, their rivalry turns into a romance. Think about when Alya and Nino got trapped in the panther cage and fell for each other because they had so much (their mutual crush on Marinette) in common. This is the superior love triangle, tbh.

The Double Love Triangle

We’re back to classic love triangle land, but we’re spicing it up by adding another one!! One of the people in the classic love triangle is in another classic love triangle. Percy has to choose between Annabeth and Rachel, Annabeth has to choose between Percy and Luke (*gags at mention of luke*). This can end in two couples or in one couple and two lonely people.

The True Double Love Triangle

Ooh what’s this? It’s Miraculous Ladybug, of course. Person A (Marinette) likes Person C (Adrien), but she also likes Person B (Luka). Person C (Adrien) likes Person A (Marinette) and D (Kagami). BUT!! If we add in Marigami and Lukadrien, there’s our true love triangles coming out. Of course this chaos is in Miraculous because not a single character in this show this love triangle is straight.

The Bachelor

I honestly can’t think of a good example in any fandoms I’m in for this scenario, but it’s pretty simple: person A has a plethora of potential love interests to choose between.

The Bachelor With Internal Love Triangles

The love interests got tired of waiting for person A to choose one of them and started showing interest in each other.

The Bi Panic/Irene Adler/I am just overall frustrated that these two people are dating or into each other

Person B and C are into each other, maybe already in a relationship, and person A likes both of them (unreciprocated). This is kind of like Irene Adler having an affair with both people in a marriage, except they would have both been into her too. A better example is when my crush in 7th grade started dating the girl that I didn’t know I had a crush on because I still thought I was straight.

The Plus One, aka the Johnlock

Person A and B are in a confirmed and committed relationship (John & Mary Watson), but one of them is not so secretly in love with Person C (Sherlock).

The Awkward Plus One

This is a similar situation to the plus one, but it’s just person C having an unrequited crush on someone in a relationship. For example, Nico having a crush on Percy, who is with Annabeth. Briseis loving Patroclus who is with his soulmate Achilles.

I was going to include the Marinette/Adrien/Ladybug/Chat Noir love square but honestly wtf is that mess and how did those fools manage to have a love triangle between two people?

i have a headcanon that the gaang has had heated debates on whether water is wet or not since book one. you cannot tell me that a group of teens and preteens wouldn’t argue about dumb shit like this when they’re stuck thousands of feet in the air for weeks on end. of course sokka is the one to initiate this whole mess.

Sokka: is water wet?

Aang: is that even a question?

Katara: of course it’s wet. water makes other things wet, so what else would it be?

Sokka: it makes other things wet katara. but it can’t make itself wet. it’s just water.

Katara: I know my own element well enough to know that it’s not “just water.” Anyone who’s touched water before knows that it’s obviously wet.

Sokka: ok but that’s the thing. If something is wet, that implies it can also be dry, right?

Katara: yes

Sokka: If i touch water, I’m wet because the water is sticking to my body, right?

Katara: yes

Sokka: but I can also become dry when that water doesn’t stick to me anymore, right?

Katara: yes

Sokka: but water is always sticking to itself.

Katara: yes

Sokka: so can water be dry??

Katara: no

Sokka: so is it wet???

Katara: yES

Sokka: oh my god—

Aang: oh so it’s like air can’t blow on itself, therefore it’s… uh. Wait I lost myself there.

It just gets worse as the series goes on. Aang eventually sides with sokka, but he keeps it to himself because he wants to appear neutral on the subject (and also because he’s in love with katara and can’t bear to make her upset). Toph could not give any shits though.

Katara: IT’S WET AND YOU KNOW IT

sokka: WHY ARE YOU YELLING AT ME? STOP GETTING SO EMOTIONAL ABOUT IT

Katara: FINE. IF YOU WONT LISTEN TO ME, LISTEN TO SOMEONE ELSE. TOPH! IS WATER WET?

Toph: don’t drag me into this. I’m too busy with my own element to worry about some stupid water. Dirt is dirt and that’s the way I like it.

Katara: *scREECH*

They reunite with suki in the earth kingdom and it’s all they talk about when crossing the serpent’s pass.

Suki: yeah i think water could be wet.

Katara: yes!

Sokka: but I… I…

Suki: though sokka’s argument does make sense. So honestly I don’t know which one to believe.

Sokka: yes!

Katara: aRE YOU KIDDING ME?

It reaches a boiling point in book 3 after they join up with zuko. He initially distanced himself from the gaang, but he could always hear katara and sokka screaming about something at the campfire before bed. “Oh god are they fighting because I’m here? Oh shit oh shit oh sh—” But he finds out the truth eventually.

Katara: for the last time, water is wet and you can’t change my mind sokka.

Sokka: *sighs* I wish it didn’t have to come to this. Hey zuko! Get over here. We gotta ask you something.

Katara: don’t talk to him!

Zuko: what is it?

Sokka: is water wet?

Zuko: hmmm… yeah I’d say so.

Katara: oh?

Zuko: water makes things wet, so it is in and of itself wet.

Katara: oH??

Sokka: come on. I know you’re smarter than this. take your element for instance. fire burns things, so is it in and of itself burnt?

Zuko: yeah

Sokka: y-you’re joking, right?

Katara: I’ll take it!

This is the point where katara starts to warm up to zuko, and sokka realizes how much of an idiot the next fire lord will be.

Saw this on a friend’s timeline needed it …two of my favorite comics ever are X-Men and Captain America.

X-Men is about Civil Rights. If you didn’t get that, you didn’t get X-Men.

Black Panther is about Civil Rights. If you didn’t get that, you didn’t get Black Panther.

Captain America literally fought the Nazis. He is the embodiment of fighting the alt-right. If you didn’t get that, you didn’t get Captain America.

The Empire in Star Wars is fascist. The Rebel alliance is Anti-Fascist. If you didn’t get that, you didn’t get Star Wars.

The Punisher isn’t meant to be a role model for police or armed forces. So much so that the writers of The Punisher made him actively speak out against it in a comic. If you didn’t get that, you didn’t get The Punisher.

Deadpool is queer. He’s pansexual. Fact. If you didn’t get that you didn’t get Deadpool.

Star Trek is about equality for all genders, races, and sexualities. As early as the mid-60s it was taking a pro-choice stance and defending women’s right to choose. One of its clearest themes is accepting different cultures and appearances and working together for peace. (It’s also anti-capitalist and pro-vegan). If you didn’t get that, you didn’t get Star Trek.

Superman and Supergirl (and a whole host of other superheroes) are immigrants. The stance of those comics is pro-immigration and pro-equality and acceptance. If you didn’t get that, you didn’t get Superman or Supergirl.

Stan Lee said, “Racism and bigotry are among the deadliest social ills plaguing the world today.” If you’re bigoted or racist, you didn’t get any of the characters Stan Lee created.

The stories we grew up with all taught us to value other people and cultures and to treasure the differences between us. Only villains were xenophobic, or sexist, or racist, or totalitarian. I can’t understand how anyone can have missed that.

If you’re upset that there’s a black Spider-Man, or a black Captain America, or a female Thor, or that Ms. Marvel is Muslim, or that Captain Marvel was pro-feminism, or any of the other things right-wing “fans” say is “stealing their childhood” - you never got it in the first place. The things you claim are now “pandering to the lefties” were never on your side to begin with.

If you consider yourself a fan of these things, but you still think the LGBTQ+ community is too “in your face”, or have a problem with Black Lives Matter, or want to “take the country back from immigrants”, then you’re not really a fan at all.

Geek culture isn’t suddenly left-wing… it always was. You just grew up to be intolerant. You became the villain in the stories you used to love. Disagree? See yourself out.
