"You do realize that that sounds like a load of nonsense to me," Donna said, her voice teasing. She leaned against the railing of the TARDIS and watched him work, fiddling with this or that. The mind he had --- sometimes Donna wondered if there were any limits to it. She highly doubted it. "But do let me know if I can help. I have two hands --- I can...hold things..." She was committed to helping if only to get them out their current jam. "What made this happen in the first place? Please don't say the apocalypse or some other world ending event. You promised me quiet for once."

The Doctor was bent over a control panel, sonic between his teeth, reaching across to another, flicking switches. "I'm detecting a slight variance in the propulsion drive." He announced after a few moments of tinkering with the panel. "I should be able to get it back into alignment and that'll let us to take off." The Doctor told Donna as he stood back up and jumped to another control panel. "Then hopefully, we'll be back at Sunspeed and the TARDIS before tomorrow noon." He looked at her grinning. "Just in time for afternoon tea."

Donna reflected on how the smallest of moments could come to mean so much more. She hadn't expected to have this lovely conversation when she ventured out. In fact, she had complained (very loudly) to Sean that the weather was terrible, that she wanted nothing more than to just curl up on her couch --- and now look at what happened.
She was glad that she came.
"If you had, I wouldn't have called you on it," she told him truthfully. "I would have know of course. Raising a teen makes you an excellent lie detector. But I would have let this one slip." She gave him a soft smile. "Until we meet again." Because she had a feeling it was happening. She gave him a final wave and then they went their separate ways.
"Thank you for that." He grinned at her, really hoping he would be able to be Rose's first customer - he loved art galleries and understood the preciousness of knowing an artist before they became famous. Q also understood that Rose might not pursue that and, perhaps, his little fluffy piece would be even more unique. The idea was far more fun than buying postcards at the exit of art tours.
"I'm mostly used to it, it's nothing to worry about. I just... Feel like I shouldn't lie to you." He admitted quietly, something half-remembered from the file on her made him feel like he should be able to trust her more than most. "It was nice to meet you too. I do hope we meet again." Q was almost certain that they would - top-level security in the UK had a great amount of overlap. "Have a good evening." He said softly. "I look forward to seeing the fluffy creation too!"

"Is your friend also called Donna? What a coincidence, hmm?" Donna pointed out, her voice full of suspicion. She then whipped her head around, eyes wide. "An alien what?! Are you serious or are you having me on? Because I'm not laughing."
"I mistook you for someone. You remind me of my friend." The Doctor lied, of course. "It looks like we're having an alien invasion."

Donna had just gone to get milk. A simple errand, not meant to lead to a moment like this. But then, that was her life wasn't it? Simple decisions made all the difference (turn left). She had never expected to see Jenny after leaving that godforsaken planet. She would just carry the pain from that loss. Even after she had forgotten it all, it was still there, tucked away in the corner of her heart. She would feel it every now and then and wonder where it came from. What brought it on.
Now she understood.
There were unshed tears in her eyes as she took in the woman that was both familiar and not.

"You might not have found me," she began, her voice quiet. "Or if you did, I wouldn't have remembered...it's a long story but it's all better now. You're here and I know who you are. That's all that matters." Before she could stop herself she was moving forward, her arms wrapping around Jenny to hold on tight.
Shaun and Rose - Rose had to be the daughter, and Jenny wished she could have been there too, have experienced something so beautiful and normal and human with Donna and her father, who surely must have been a big part of her childhood. They must have been very happy.
"I don't-" she had started, as soon as Donna had accused her of the truth, feeling her mouth dry up, but then the words my Jenny hit her harder than anything else and all she could do was to fight tears. She cried so much now, and didn't know what to do of it. No, she wasn't her Jenny, her Jenny was gone, her Jenny believed she could do anything, had no idea of what heartbreak truly was, of how much she'd fail. She was happy and innocent even if built to kill.

"Donna... I... I looked for you for so long... ran after the TARDIS, always a bit late... The Ood sang of you and I tried but I... I couldn't find you and Earth was so far..." She didn't think what she had said made any sense to Donna and she should have denied it all, but how could she? Her voice shook: "There was so much I wanted to say..."

It started with Donna looking for the Doctor and willing to wait a hundred years to find him, and it ended with the Doctor finding Donna and it took him thousands of years to finally come home to her.

"It does look fine," she assured him but she couldn't resist moving forward and straightening one of the lines of tinsel. She gave him a sheepish look. "I can't help. I grew up in Sylvia Noble's home. Everything had its place."
"I think it looks fine," he told her as he looked at it, "To be honest, I'm not sure I really have an opinion either way. That's why I asked you."

"Ummhmm," she retorts, her tone showing her disbelief. "And just what important nutritional information have you gleamed thus far? Teach me, Doctor."
Tumblr media
"No!" He says, indignant. "This has very important nutritional information!"

"Oh I know exactly where you got it from," Donna told her with a snort. There was a stubborn endless spirit about everyone connected to the Doctor. It had to be genetic. "If he doesn't think we are clever enough than I will remind him of that when we find him."
She could hear the approach of those things and was grateful they had another way to go. She was not interested in seeing them again (but she was sure that they'd haunt a dream or two down the road). "Not that big but there sure are a lot of corridors." She skittered to a stop and looked over at Ophelia. "Whadda think? Turn left or right?"

“Ah, and where do you think I get it from.” Phee smirked back at the other woman before trying to make sense of where they were in relation to the safety of the blue box. “I know I’d you get split up, you’re meant to like stay where you are sort of thing, but surely he’d think we’d be clever enough to find our way back, yeah?”
She could hear that unfriendly noise down the hall and quickly decided that heading that direction wouldn’t be the best idea. “This place can’t be that big. Maybe we’ll even cross paths trying to get back.” She said, trying to stay optimistic as she headed down the opposite way of the noise.

"Actually, I don't know what it has in it. I drank it and I am still standing. Not a bit loopy either so that must mean it is free from alcohol," Donna reasoned. She was a cheap drunk after all. It didn't take much and she had a feeling that if she were to take on space grade alcohol, she wouldn't be walking a straight line.
"Oh yeah, I am. I've been lucky --- able to just see so much and do so much cuz of him. I owe him a lot." He had taken her from her boring life, and opened her mind in so many way. She stopped talking when she noticed how the other woman was looking around. "He's not here right now we can find him. He can't have wandered far...well, he can. The Doctor is like that."
Sophia hadn't even thought about how this woman in front of her and her friend had been travelling. Of course, Sophia had been travelling though space and time. She had no idea they had been too.
Listening to her, she nodded. "As long as it doesn't have alcohol in it, then I would love to try that." Sophia told her. "You look happy just talking about it." She smiled when she said about her friend helps people and how he was a good man. Hearing his name, her eyes widened. Did she just say The Doctor? She glanced around as if looking.

One of these days, she was going to grab him by the earlobe and drag him into true relaxation. Oh she had a feeling that he would fight tooth and nail but she would win in the end. She always did because she was right (or he just got tired of arguing with her).
"Ugh, you know me too well. I just have to see what is behind the curtain, even if it is bad thing," she admitted, her voice sounding a tad bit defeated. She had a feeling that in a few minutes she was going to regret her decision. "But the moment things get hairy we go. I mean it, Doctor. I have a family --- I can't afford to get wrapped up in some crazy space foolishness."
The Doctor shook his head. "I don't." He said. Although, to be fair, it was true. Even when he was sat down he did just want to get back up again. Unless he really was so exhausted. The Doctor had no idea what Donna was thinking about him needing to rest. That thought hadn't even crossed his mind.
He hadn't really thought about how him not staying still could mean something. The Doctor looked at Donna as she looked at him. "I knew you wanted to. You wouldn't have wanted to leave here without taking a quick look."
