Ok. I have to talk about Andor ‘One Way Out’ again because I have seen a lot of prison break stories and I’m studying screenplays and I cannot get over how good this is.

None of the usual discussion of the plan - just one two line interaction and some incomprehensible actions. No back stories - it doesn’t matter why anyone is there. No discussion of what is going on at the prison. Just character work, then a moment of breakdown as Kino realises that these people - these people he cares for and protects and guides as well as he can - are going to die there - and then it’s all action. And it’s joint action. The phrase spreading like the water. One Way Out. The prisoners swarming over the guards and the barriers - like water swarming over dams and walls. The revelation that the terrifying voice that speaks to them is not much more than a boy. Kino’s speech - his incredible speech. Inspired by Cassian, infused with all his anger at what has gone on here..

And then the final twist. Kino can’t make it out. Kino always knew he could never make it out. He will undoubtably die for this. He sacrificed it all to save the men he has been looking after all this time.

And it’s so good. Stripped down to the basics, to what really matters. Not the plan, not the talking, not backstories - just the people and the event.

And this is what has been so good about Andor. It hasn’t followed the path it’s supposed to go. Cassian doesn’t start off a rebel. Mon Mothma has no love story, and is not a rebel yet. Almost everyone dies on Aldhani, but with no heroic dying speeches. Luthen is not a good man, and knows he is doing terrible things to help push the rebellion, and he will never get to be the hero.

It’s just - it’s all so different from what I am used to seeing in Star Wars, in TV generally and it’s all so damn good.

do not listen to the artists. do not pirate or stream the artists' music, and this applies to ALL the artists who are competing and performing this year. do not listen to the songs on ANY platform, do not give them ANY attention.

write to your broadcasters and tell them you REFUSE to watch the channels until they recognise the Armenian and Palestinian genocides & that you find it disgusting how they are allowing Eurovision despite Azerbaijan and Israel's entries.

do NOT give eurovision OR the competing artists ANYTHING but silence.

boycott ALL of eurovision.

Hey btw, here's a piece of life advice:

If you know what you'd have to do to solve a problem, but you just don't want to do it, your main problem isn't the problem itself. Your problem is figuring out how to get yourself to do the solution.

If your problem is not eating enough vegetables, the problem you should be solving is "how do I make vegetables stop being yucky". If your problem is not getting enough exercise, the problem you should be solving is "how do I make exercise stop sucking ass". You're not supposed to just be doing things that are awful and suck all the time forever, you're supposed to figure out how to make it stop being so awful all the time.

I used to hate wearing sunscreen because it's sticky and slimy and disgusting and it feels bad and it smells bad, so I neglected to wear it even if I needed to. Then I found one that isn't like that, and doesn't smell and feel gross. Problem solved.

There is no correct way to live that's just supposed to suck and feel bad all the time. You're allowed to figure out how to make it not suck so bad.
