Todays Women's March on Washington and I see women like Gloria Steinham, Scarlett Johanson and Ashley Judd ranking among those with the honor of speaking, I want you to know who came FIRST making this privilege available to those women and hundreds of others today. At the very FIRST March on Washington (the one of MLK fame) in August, 1963, there was only ONE WOMAN allowed to make a speech that day. A fabulous woman of a bygone era appearing in her French resistance uniform decorated with all her medals she earned in WWII. That woman was Josephine Baker.👑 ""...So I did open my mouth, and you know I did scream, and when I demanded what I was supposed to have and what I was entitled to, they still would not give it to me. …They were mad because I told the TRUTH. And the truth was that all I wanted was a cup of coffee. Friends and brothers and sisters, that is how it went. And when I screamed loud enough, they started to open that door just a little bit, and we all started to be able to squeeze through it. Not just the colored people, but the others as well, the other minorities too, the Orientals, and the Mexicans, and the Indians, both those here in the United States and those from India. Now I am not going to stand in front of all of you today and take credit for what is happening now. I cannot do that. But I want to take credit for telling you how to do the same thing, and when you scream, friends, I know you will be heard. And you will be heard NOW."" Not only did she eloquently state her experience, she understood INTERSECTIONALITY. This woman and those involved in the Civil Rights Movements of the 60s has paved the way for us as women on this day in ways that are hard to quantify. Closing out the year with fabulous people l admire like @musettesmischief at a secret underground cabaret put on by @scarlette_revolver ! We danced in revelry til the wee hours. Loved doing an improv set in my vintage costume dating to the early 70's with no Blue laws... ahem... holding me back. I will be retiring this costume moving forward. Stay tuned for pics of this STUNNING piece of art that will be going away from the stage permanently this year...

Finally found a piece by #jolidon from @flirtboutiquemn I just cant live without. Yes. Illusion mesh makes me weak and my defences were greatly diminished. Lace floating like graffiti on my body? Literally letting my freak flag fly for #lafoliesburlesk this past weekend, celebrating an EPIC birthday weekend with my #burlesquecommunity in The Twin Cities. I am overjoyed to have been welcomed with wide open arms here, l have never felt more love from a place in my life. I had a teary moment backstage when @musettesmischief 's number triggered a memory of the first burlesque production l ever did, a burlesque retelling of Cinderella... l realized that it was exactly my birthday 7 years ago that help produce North Dakota's first burlesk show! I cant believe how things can come full circle like this so cosmically! I cried happy tears backstage and my gratitude for that moment goes to everyone in the burlesque community that have brought me into the fold here in my new town. My heart feels full. Now that's a helluva birthday present. (at Gay 90's)

Last time l rode her occurred on a day there was very bad weather in town. A tornado had touched down by neaby. Fargo was all abuzz about it. I guess l will tell people she got lost in a storm. But dang, she had a snazzy new wicker basket on her. I shall wander around on my uncivilized feet. Should l see you again, l will casually dismember those you took you from me.
