olympus in september
Hestia- chopping and collecting firewood for the coming cold seasons, sorting family recipe books in the cupboard, unpacking wool socks and sweaters from their boxes
Apollo- savoring the last few weeks of summer heat, whistling tunes heard from the high school orchestra room in it’s new semester, putting together portfolios for art competitions just around the corner
Artemis- watching the moon soar higher and slower across the sky with each night, hiking the trails that will soon be soaked in rich warm colors, weekend girl scout camping trips
Hera- washing all the bedsheets, packing away bright sun dresses and sandals, fixing the healthiest school lunches for her kids
Hekate- becoming more and more excited for halloween, preparing samhain and lunar rituals, carving wands from tree branches fallen in high winds
Ares- finally getting back into a workout routine, planning carepackages for soldiers during thanksgiving
Demeter- busily preparing for the harvest, strolling through cemeteries to calm down after a long day of work, excitedly baking cinnamon and apple treats
Zeus- cloud gazing as the wind slowly picks up in strength, feeling in control as the new season sets in, smelling an oncoming storm without the humidity of summer
Athena- buckling down on schoolwork, laying outside with a book in the finally-cool breeze, becoming involved in upcoming political campaigns
Hades- leaving bundles of autumn flowers against headstones, visiting family now that everyone isn’t so busy, finally feeling alive again with the soon-to-be-autumn spirit
Aphrodite- scouting out the coziest cafes with a friend, treating herself to new dark lipsticks, tying the last of the blooming wildflowers into her hair
Hephaestus- hurriedly finishing house projects in preparation for the cold, smelling the heater turned on for the first time in months, crackling fire pits surrounded by blankets and log benches
Dionysus- visiting the best orchards and vineyards before they get busy, late movie nights with lovers, seasonal motivation towards mental health
Hermes- getting one last use out of an old kite, sending invitations to distant family for the holidays, being startled by the chilly wind and pulling his favorite scarf closer
Hypnos- lazily stargazing, cuddling into new flannel blankets, setting out nuts and seeds for the animals to gather before hibernation

Apollo and the Muses hit me hard last night, I’ve been wanting to do a pice of Apollo for a while and last night it all came out at once! This is just an angle of the piece ☀️

Apollo, blindingly brilliant Lord of Medicine, with shining face and gleaming eyes. He who aims his bow at the wicked and rewards the righteous, who loves deeply and thinks kindly. Apollo, master and lover of all arts, he whose very breath is like song, and he whose countenance is akin to a painting upon fine canvas. Apollo, Lord of the Sun, so worthy of adoration and praise.
