Aragorn regarded him with kind eyes and pursed lips. Tis true it was evident enough that the burden Frodo carried could be etched on his young face. And all the rest of them, their companions on this quest, could do nothing more than to accompany him on this treacherous journey, yet none of them may help bare the same burden. It was Frodo's task and Frodo's alone. This, Aragorn knew.

Crouching to the hobbit's level, he keeps his comforting hand upon his shoulder whilst they both watch the horizon. "Aye, thinking of one's home is a comfort when away from it." A soft breeze blew past their cloaks while their minds linger with thoughts of home. Aragorn tries to come up with words of comfort. "I know of the comforts of the Shire... I know its borders from the back of my hand as much as you know it by heart. It calls of home."

Aragorn mirrors the cordial smile appreciating the kind gesture upon his shoulder. "Indeed it has been long since, my Lord." he nodded, resting his palm upon the hilt on his waist. "I'm afraid I could not linger in the House of Lord Elrond for long, merely just a short repose from my long journeys until I must set off again."

Strider sits upon a rock by the fire where most of the food was being carefully prepared by Sam. It had been unofficial, but it seems the hobbit was appointed to be cook for their merry company and he seems to enjoy it so no one was really opposed to this arrangement. The others were a little ways away from earshot.

"Would you need any help, master Gamgee?" Aragorn offers, sitting up straighter.

He approaches the halfling with much caution. It seems the hobbit has been staring out into the wide world right at the edge of a cliff in weariness.  Aragorn places a firm hand on Frodo's shoulder, announcing his presence, as well as keeping him from tipping off the edge.

"There is much on your thoughts I could sense, master hobbit." Aragorn speaks low, "might I ask what's on your mind?"

There was doubt in his eyes though he would not want for his friend to see. A year it had been since their triumph in the War of the Ring and 'ere in Minas Tirith there he dwelled as Elessar. A new age has come and so far the days of men have gone by in peace... So why would the returned king's face be grim with doubt? Perhaps it was the burden that he carries now. Perhaps Legolas could see it. He had not wished for his throne and yet he accepted it out of duty. Aragorn turns to face his old friend and tries to a smile.

"True are your words, mellonin." he approaches him and places both his hands on the elf's shoulders, "Though if your people have any need for aid, do not hesitate to call upon us. And you would return the favor."
