|| There was quiet warmth in the dark gaze, something that was normally hidden by shadows and a lack of emotion. “You’ve been a Ranger longer than 90% of us have even been alive. Which means you’re stuck with us. Permanently. And that involves the idiots as well.”
||  Saeradan didn’t connect the sideways look and bland comment for a moment. Then he narrowed his eyes on the younger Dúnedan but was unable to keep the amusement from showing. “Hal doesn’t normally give out nicknames to be honest. If they do, it means they trust the person a lot.”
||  He didn’t want to deal with this today, this week or ever. A almost silent sigh escaped his lips before turning around to face the group of five men. “Spoken to Strider yet? Or have you completely ignored the fact that he requested you to contact him, before talking to me?”
||  “We don’t need a simple Ranger’s permission to speak to anyone.” Came the answer. Which meant two things. One: They hadn’t done as requested. And two…
They didn’t know that Aragorn was the Chieftain of the Dúnedain.
||  Saeradan stared. While Hal’s lips twitched into a tiny half smirk. Because of everything their leader could be described as, a simple Ranger was not one of them.
A lopsided grin appeared on Arawynn’s face. Indeed she had been what one might call a Ranger for as long as Hal said, though it had taken many years before the redhead had even thought to call herself one. After all, she had simply been roaming the wilderness and killed any dark creature that had happened to cross her path. And maybe she had been one for longer than all of the currently living Rangers combined.
The Dragon Changer laughed as she was told that she’d be stuck with them permanently. It was a rare, heart-felt laugh because she certainly didn’t mind that. “Just like you are stuck with me. That’s a two-way-street.”, Arawynn replied merrily.
The smile on her face turned softer and full of warmth when Saeradan explained what it meant when Hal gave out a nickname. “Even more reason to cherish it. Your trust means a lot to me, Hal.”, the redhead said softly and looked at her friend.
When the Angmarim actually approached them, she stayed back and remained silent. As if she was a simple Ranger who happened to be there when the unwelcome visitors had arrived. The Dragon Changer was still ready to strike at a moment’s notice, but for the moment, she left everything to the Dúnedain. Because as much as she was one of them, she still lacked the exact knowledge about the relationships going on.
And judging by the tension in the air, there was much going on that hadn’t been vocalized yet.
Even through they were not a elf, the Ranger often moved on far too silent bare feet and occasionally surprised those who weren’t aware of their presence. This time though, their target would probably have heard them coming as the gender fluid commander came up beside the Dragon changer and kissed her cheek.
Arawynn easily caught the sound of silent footsteps approaching. Paying attention to her surroundings - even not consciously - was too much a habit by now to simply be switched off.
The redhead turned around to face whoever it was, assuming her help was required one way or another. Not that she minded it, of course. Though what actually happened caught her off-guard.
She recognized Hal just a second before receiving a kiss to the cheek. A faint blush covered her cheeks and spread to her ears. The Dragon Changer needed a couple seconds to pull herself together again. A careful smile appeared on her face.
“What’s that for?”, Arawynn asked, not offended by the gesture.

Eruingil had known Arawynn long enough by now to recognize that look in her eyes: resistance was futile. She plopped down on the log they’d pulled up to the campfire and began rolling up the layered sleeves on her right arm. She’d hastily tied makeshift bandages around it, but even before they were removed, it was clear this was more than the ‘just a scratch’ she made it out to be.
“See, it’s already stopped bleeding. It’s not a big deal,” the novice Ranger protested as the bandage came off to reveal an arrow-wound across her bicep.
It had not ‘already stopped bleeding’. Liar.
A tiny, satisfied smile appeared on Arawynn’s face when Eruingil just plopped down and rolled up her sleeve instead of trying to argue. If only more rangers were like that. Though the smile quickly disappeared again as soon as she saw the hasty, makeshift bandage.
The redhead grabbed Eruingil’s arm to prevent a sudden change of mind and retreat ‘to take care of it herself’. The wound hadn’t already stopped bleeding and it wasn’t just a scratch either. “It needs to be treated. More than just some quick bandaging. Otherwise it’s going to get you in serious trouble soon.”, she replied and simply started doing just that.
Too often the Dragon Changer had seen people die from wounds that hadn’t gotten proper attention and care while they had really not been serious. She wouldn’t allow that to happen in her presence if she could help it. And thanks to her long life, she did know a thing or two about healing and treating wounds.

Shay wasn’t usually the type of person to just tag along with someone, for not wanting to be alone, especially not with a stranger; Shay liked to keep to themselves and didn’t usually choose to be sociable if they could help it; but the sudden outpouring of emotions they had been feeling before Arawynn arrived, had left them feeling a little vulnerable.
❝ Thanks… I’m sorry to crash on your day… I appreciate you letting me tag along ❞.
Arawynn just smiled as Shay apologized. She certainly wasn’t the most social person, but she liked their company. The redhead couldn’t pinpoint the exact reason about it, but for the moment she didn’t exactly care.
“You don’t need to be. My day being crashed in by what seems to be nice company is not a bad thing.”, the Dragon Changer tried to assure the other. “Are you ready for the walk back or would you like another couple minutes of rest?”, she continued after a short silence.

She wondered, for a moment, whether or not Arawynn would take her hand, but Integra did have a certain presence that tended to make people want to do as she said. She was highly respected by all of her subordinates, and she intended to be respected by Arawynn as well. As far as she could see, so far, she seemed to.
❝ I understand that. I’ve always been a similar way myself ❞ she said, her tone of voice not changing. She gave a small smile, however. ❝ Though I hope, despite your reservations of working with others, you will at least take the time to make the effort. Though there will be plenty of opportunities for you to show your skill alone, sometimes working as a team is a necessity here, and it could be the difference between life and death. ❞
She did not believe in sugar coating anything in order to ease her into it, and she was sure that Arawynn wasn’t the type of person who needed things put gently, either. She appreciated that.
Arawynn hadn’t seen much of Integra so far, but what she had seen gave her a certain respect of the other woman. She seemed to be a natural leader. Whether that respect was deserved or not time would tell. And the redhead was willing to give the other woman that time.
A tiny smile appeared on her face as Lady Integra spoke. “I said I’m not easy to work with. Not that I’m not willing to. So I will do exactly that when it’s necessary.”, the Dragon Changer corrected her calmly. She didn’t say it out loud but Arawynn was confident that in life or death-situations her own life would not be at stake. She was too powerful for that.
At least Lady Integra seemed to be the kind of person who got straight to the point rather than dancing around it. The redhead liked that in people. “I would like to learn more about Hellsing.”

It was embarrassing to admit, but he had never made a meal in his entire life. From birth he had been served by servants. Even as an adult, his princely upbringing meant that he never had to lift a finger. A dark red blush flushed upon his face, that he was powerless to stop. He attempted to knock his long black hair in front of his face but feared it might have been too late; she would no doubt have seen his reaction to the question and would have been able to guess the answer.
“No… I’ve never cooked” he replied, not looking at her. He hoped that she wouldn’t judge him too harshly for it.
The next question was less embarrassing, and one he felt quite confident to answer.
“Long sword was my weapon of choice, though I do have some skill with a bow. Hand to hand combat is preferred though” he replied, this time tucking his hair behind his ears and offering a smile.
Arawynn was too busy with making their meal to look up and see the blush on Zakkur’s face, but the amount of time he needed to answer her question told her what she needed to know. “Then I’ll teach you that, too. You won’t make it far without knowing how to make your own food.”, the redhead replied calmly while she stirred the contents of her pot to make sure they got roasted evenly.
Once she filled the pot with water and let it simmer, she looked up at the Elf. “It may sound like a lot, but once you get the hang of cooking, it’s not difficult. We’ll start by you watching me and easy tasks I’ll give you; like peeling and cutting up vegetables.”, she continued in an attempt to assure him. The Dragon Changer could only imagine how he had to feel, suddenly confronted with the fact that he was more or less unable to survive on his own.
Arawynn returned Zakkur’s smile when the topic moved on to his weapons of choice. “I’ll test your skill with both after we ate. Especially archery is an important skill in the wilderness.”, she replied calmly. Because if the redhead was to take him under her wings, she needed to know what he was capable of and what he needed to learn.

Elizabeth smiled, a little more at lease when the other accepted her offer. It would make her feel better to know she wouldn’t just be leaving her high and dry, not being sure if she would be alright. Now that she was focused on looking after the other and the blood had been mostly cleaned up, Beth was feeling a little more in control of her instincts. Though the smell of blood was still clear, it was more bearable now it wasn’t all over the place.
“Good, I’d feel much better knowing you’ll be alright” she said with a relieved smile. “Not at all, we can go anywhere you like. Food’s on me and I’m happy to go wherever”.
The vampire was uncommonly kind for one of her species. Though she has met few others in her time, the ones she had encountered had not been quite so sympathetic when it came to the lives of others.
Arawynn returned the blonde’s smile when she started to relax somewhat and showed that despite her oddities, she had a good heart by wanting to make sure that the redhead would be fine. After all, she was nothing but a stranger she had met while injured.
“I know a pretty nice burger restaurant not that far away. They’ve got delicious food, generous helpings and decent prices.”, she suggested as the other told her that she’d be fine with whatever kind of restaurant the Dragon Changer wanted to go.
Carefully, Arawynn stood up. Allowed herself to let the dizziness pass. Just because she healed much faster than most beings didn’t mean she did not get the nasty side-effects. For the moment, the redhead would have to take things easy. “I hope you’re ready. Right now I feel as if I could eat the biggest burger that restaurant makes.”, she joked lightly.

She blushed. Miyuki was usually a good judge of character, and something had felt off about following Arawynn from the start. Usually, she would not feel anything regarding who she was following; she would accept the money and do her job. But this hadn’t felt right from the get go.
She bowed her head deeply, apologising again, but she looked up a little with a slightly superstitious expression. What did the other mean that she could be dangerous? She quickly shook off the feeling - if she was being honest with herself, she could be dangerous too, if the occasion called for it.
“I want you to know that I have no intention of fulfilling my assignment… this hasn’t felt right from the start… honestly it feels like the person who hired me did it in order to cause you harm”.
She gave a soft smile to the question and eagerly nodded her head. “Absolutely. It’s the least I can do for invading your privacy like this”.
For a while, Arawynn pondered how to continue while she watched Miyuki. Once that mysterious client of hers figured out that his spy wasn’t doing what she was supposed to, they’d sent someone new after her. Quite likely somebody who’d ask no questions and have less morals. She really needed to find out who it was and what they knew.
“I appreciate that. And your honesty.”, the redhead replied as Miyuki started speaking again. She agreed with the other woman, that the person behind this most likely wanted to cause her harm in some way or another. Be it by locking her up to use her as guinea pig or weapon or by trying to kill her as perceived threat to humanity.
The Dragon Changer offered Miyuki a careful smile as she agreed to help her find out who was behind all of this. “Thank you. I’d like to start working on this as soon as you’re able to. I don’t like being the target of somebody I know nothing about in return.”

“I cherish the time we spend together, no matter what we do,” Glorfindel assured Arawynn with a warm smile. He squeezed her hand in return. It didn’t matter his mood, or what had happened, spending the day with his friend always made things look brighter. He tugged her lightly toward one of the more visited areas of the library.
In the middle of an alcove featuring historic figures was a painting of a blonde elf with a sparkling circlet sitting on his forehead. He was surrounded by a flowering garden, and looked like he was at peace with a slight smile on his lips. “This is a painting of my grandfather,” he said, looking up at his work, his expression mirroring the one on the painting. “I spent much time in his house and in his care.”
Arawynn returned Glorfindel’s smile with just as much warmth. He had something about him that made it easy to forget her own sadness and burdens and enjoy the present, even if it was for just a while. His smile and laugh were enough to always lift her mood. “So do I.”
The redhead allowed her friend to tug her along wherever the painting was he wished to show her. She recognized the blond Elf on the painting as she had met him personally. Only once and briefly, but he had left quite an impression on her younger self.
Taking her time, the Dragon Changer took in the painting and its details. “It’s beautiful. And I can see that it’s been painted with a lot of fondness for him.”, she finally said softly. “You look a lot like him.”
"When I see you I...feel calm. As if the burden of my past was lifted from my shoulders. That there's somebody in this world who I can call friend and share my secrets with. Even those I never share with anybody." (@ArawynnGoldwing)
Glorfindel smiled, reaching out to wrap his arms tightly around Arawynn in a tight embrace. He wished he knew the words to say to craft a perfect answer to what he had just been told. “It means the world to me that you feel that way,” he said softly, not knowing what else to say.

“That’s fair,” Glorfindel agreed with a laugh. While Arawynn was still obviously very distressed about what had happened, she seemed to have pushed the blind panic of earlier to the side for the moment. That was as much progress as he could hope to have had during the time he was in her rooms. It would take more time to get her actually relaxed.
“Then it sounds as though we have a plan,” he said warmly, stepping toward the door. Making sure his friend was calming down was his first priority, then he would move onto looking into who might be behind these rare bonds. “I’ll leave you long enough for you to change, then I will accompany you to breakfast. After that, if you still want me to stay by my side, I will need to speak with my aide about sharing my duties around. I am here for as long as you need me.”
Arawynn joined Glorfindel’s laugh. With him by her side, she felt safe enough to allow it to herself. It liftet some of the tension the redhead felt.
A smile appeared on her face when the blond Elf agreed to her suggestions of how to start the day ahead of them. She even only felt a twinge of insecurity when he announced to leave her for long enough so she could change into some actual clothes. Because the Dragon Changer knew he’d be right there the moment she stepped out of the door of her room.
“Thank you, for everything. I truly appreciate what you’re doing for me and to have you as a friend.”, Arawynn replied with her voice full of warmth and honest gratitude. She didn’t take for granted that he was willing to change his entire day just to make certain she was well.
It didn’t take the redhead long to put on a simple dress - of course in her favourite shade of green - and join Glorfindel again. Unlike usually, her hair still wasn’t braided, though she had brushed it. The Dragon Changer’s hands had been too unsteady to properly braid her hair so she had decided to forego it.

Send “🔐” for my muse to find yours handcuffed/tied to their bed and unable to escape. @arawynngoldwing
Glorfindel gave a cursory knock on his friend’s door before stepping inside, not really paying attention to if she had answered him or not. After all, Arawynn should have been expecting his arrival. He started looking around when she wasn’t right in the sitting area and froze when he came into sight of her bed.
He couldn’t help starting to laugh. “Having some trouble there?”

Arawynn loved to wander through the exhibition and marvel at all the ancient forged weapons and armor. Unlike many of the visitors, she wasn’t focused on the shiny, richly decorated items but those that had marks and imprints from being used. Because while she could appreciate the work that had gone into making those pieces look beautiful, the redhead was more practically-minded when it came to those things. Because there had been a time, where they needed to be useful rather than pretty.
While she kept wandering around the Dragon Changer would often times also think about how the pieces would be made. She was rather certain to be able to re-create almost every part of this exhibit - though maybe not always on first try. But that was part of any craft that created things.
A pair of short swords caught Arawynn’s attention. They were forged almost like the pair she owned herself and it didn’t take her much time to realized that they had been created by her very own hands. The description on them was rather short - an estimated year they had been created in, the area they had originally been found and a description. The smith’s name was unknown.
For quite a while, the Dragon Changer stood there and took in every detail of her work. Her hands itched to take the short swords out of the display case and just hold them for the sake of holding them.
Tumblr media
[Starter from @arawynngoldwing.]
Upon finding out there’d be an exhibition of ancient weapons and armor, Arawynn had decided on the spot that she’d visit it at least once. So here she was, marveling at all the pieces and remembering the times she too had produced some of them.
Thera sighed, gently swiping her hands on the legs of her jeans. There was a longsword in the display case in front of her - not one she was personally acquainted with, but the same style as she’d used many times. Strong, solid, and she could almost feel the weight of it, the leather of the grip against the skin of her palms.
Those were the days. That same skin prickled, fingers flexing absently as the blade, lovingly restored, all but beckoned her to pick it up.
Not today, my friend. Regretful, wry, and with another press along the denim. Even if she’d happened to be working at this museum and this display, taking up the exhibits like you knew what you were doing rarely went over well. And unless you were at a Ren Faire or something like it, those days were pretty much gone.
Her hand extended, fingers hovering almost at the glass, before she sighed again and continued on her way.

Her words were sharp and harsh, but deserved. She was right; it wasn’t just him he would destroy with the drinking. It was anyone who had ever loved him. It hurt to hear it, but perhaps it was what he needed; her bluntness and her harsh words were necessary for him to really see how selfish he was being. But it was so hard for him, even though he knew how much his self-destructive behaviours hurt others, to find other ways of coping. Though to many who didn’t know him, this outburts may have seemed like a selfish pity party, Web genuinely couldn’t care less about himself, and as such, he couldn’t always accept the love and care of others, not deeming himself worthy of such affection.
When she spoke of her past, his head shot up, and he stared at her through the veil of tears that blurred his vision. In all the time that they had known one another, Arawynn had kept any personal information about herself or her past extremely close to her chest. Web knew that if she was willing to divulge anything about herself, then that could only mean that she really, genuinely wanted to help him. No matter how much he thought he didn’t deserve it, he could not deny the fact that she believed him important enough to let him into that part of her life. He should be grateful.
❝ I… I’m so sorry ❞ he wept, partially in reference to what she had told him, and partially for his actions up until now. Her arms around him provided comfort and he couldn’t help but hold onto them, as though they were his lifeline in this ocean of desperation. ❝ I… I lost my own sister, too ❞ he whispered. Though that was only part of the endless line of traumatic experiences he had endured since childhood, it was a start. He had only ever spoken about Kara to his house mate and oldest friend. No one else knew anything about him. Not really.
Arawynn saw how her friend reacted to her story. It was something beside the pity-party he had been throwing himself so she continued, even though tears were starting to gather in her eyes as well. His reaction was what made her keep talking.
“It’s not your fault she died. And while I’m upset and angry about this entire situation, it’s not at you. I want to help you get better. Preferably without you getting drunk.”, the redhead answered softly. While her anger had been there and at him while he had been an unreasonable asshole, it had quickly once again been directed at the situation and the alcohol.
The Dragon Changer deemed it a good sign that Web held onto her, rather than pushing her away. “I’m sorry you lost your sister, too. If there’s anything you want to talk about, I’m willing to listen.”, she offered gently.
Arawynn didn’t mind that she had never heard about her friend’s sister - she hadn’t told him about her family either, after all.

The warlock nodded with a hum at those words. “Clearly quite a trekker, yes,” she replied smoothly, though she did wonder how someone on foot would be able to outpace her-basically- demon horse so easily. She did not voice her concerns though; perhaps later, they had work to do  right now did they not?
“They’re bold, not even trying to conceal their trail. They’re either drunk on their own victories and not expecting trouble or they’ve significant numbers,” she remarked as they went on, finding more and more signs of  careless destruction asthey travelled.
“I need to. There’s no animal that would tolerate me on their back but many places to go.”, Arawynn replied as she kept up her pace.
The many obvious signs and traces left behind by the Orcs made her blood boil hotter and hotter the more they found. “Whatever it is, they’re playing into our hands. I’m not worried about their numbers.”, she answered dangerously calm.
It was out of question that every single Orc would die as soon as they had caught up with them. The Dragon Changer would make sure of that.

||  Hal gave a faint half smile in response to her chuckle, running a scarred hand through his hair. He glanced around then at the walls, keeping a eye on the younger recruits on lookout. Before most of his attention switched back to Arawynn. “It definitely is. More noticeable by the fact that most wearing the Ranger uniform have the distinctive grey eyes and black hair of the Dúnedain. My grandfather used to speak about you a lot, which is where I recognised you from.”
||  The Ranger nodded, turning towards the direction of the winter stores and Candaith. That and firewood but he had a feeling that the Dwarves would just glare if he asked the Dragon-Changer to help them. They could be… rather temperamental like that. “At the moment, any aid, no matter how big or how little, is appreciated. That I can understand, having gone through there last year. My only request is that you err on the side of caution around the Dwarves until they get used to you, especially when it comes to your true form. Many are from pre-Smaug Erebor.” He answered softly, understanding Lord Elrond’s need to make sure the land around his own home safe first.
||  Had it been left up to him, the quiet 24 year old would have kept his introduction to what he’d said originally but he hadn’t been allowed to. He gave her a nod and a wry smile at her introduction. “Before everything, I would have said something similar” He admitted softly, starting to head toward one of his oldest friends. “But after the old Commander died in the most recent orc attack on Esteldin, I was catapulted into being the temporary leader of both this place and the Northern Dúnedain as a whole. Which is.. somewhat terrifying if I’m honest.”
||  “With that said, let’s introduce you to Candaith. The Jorthkyn are a lot like the Dwarves but not quite as bad tempered and much taller.” He avoided the punch from a passing Dwarf, Hannar, a faint grin on his lips while the other just snorted. Despite the situation, there was a degree of strong friendship between the Rangers and the Dwarves, something that was necessary out here in the North Downs. “Dai, do you have a moment to spare?”
||  “Not really but since it’s you, Hal, I can make time.” The older Ranger drawled, before jumping down from the second floor of the store room. He caught the dry look from his Commander and friend, before tilting his head to study Arawynn for a moment with a sharp gaze. “Candaith of Tinnudir, Evendim. If Hal trusts you, so do I- to a point.”
||  The gender-fluid Dúnedan watched with a slight smile, before noticing one of the Dwarves trying to catch his attention. “Can you sort Arawynn out? I’m needed elsewhere.” At the nod, he turned away and followed the Dwarf to where the forges were.
||  “He needs to sleep and soon.” Candaith murmured softly then focused on the task in front of him. “Are you any good with hunting and skinning animals for their fur and skin to make into leather? Getting food is all good but won’t be much help if we freeze.”
Arawynn allowed herself a quick grin when Hal pointed out how obvious it was to him that despite their similar clothing she wasn’t entirely one of his people. Few outside of the Rangers would be able to notice that.
She followed Hal when he turned around and started walking to wherever she’d most likely start lending a hand first. The redhead nodded when the Commander of Esteldin talked about appreciating any and all help while at the same time knowing of the dangers that might slow down those on the way to help them.
“I will be careful around them. However, I usually don’t reveal my other self unless it’s necessary. Though both are equally my true self.”, she replied calmly. Because while her Cerddwr-self was incredibly powerful and gave her the ability to fly, she was already a serious and quite deadly threat as she was currently.
The Dragon Changer grinned for a moment when Hal continued talking. She knew that feeling from a very long time ago. When during and after the imprisonment of her people she had suddenly been the oldest among them and thus their leader. “Such a thing takes time getting used to. But you’ll grow into it.”, Arawynn said softly and hoped to not overstep any boundaries.
She nodded when the Dúnadan mentioned wanting to introduce her to somebody called Candaith. The redhead quietly bowed her head in greeting after the Ranger had jumped down from the second floor. “Arawynn Goldwing of nowhere and everywhere.”, she introduced herself. It didn’t surprise her that she’d need to gain the trust of this man as people living in the wilderness didn’t reach his age if they were too trusting.
The Dragon Changer heard what Candaith murmured but decided to pretend she hadn’t. “Yes I am. Selling animal’s skins is the easiest way for me to earn some money.”, Arawynn replied honestly. Leaving the skins and antlers of her kills behind would be a waste, especially since many people didn’t want to commission a female blacksmith.

Okay so I’m trying to get more active again and reply to stuff, however it seems like tumblr doesn’t give notifications that are older than 100 days and since some replies I owe are older than that and I haven’t added all threads to the thread tracker…it’s quite likely that I’ll lose some things where it’s supposed to be my turn.
So feel free to poke me about threads and I go looking for them because I really don’t want to drop anything! Just please be specific or in best case have a link to any version of our thread, yeah?

||  Despite their complaint about the over-protectiveness, there was a mixture of amusement and fondness in dark grey eyes. And that, more than anything else, told the complaints weren’t serious. Had they actually been annoyed about it, they knew their Chieftain would have eased off a while ago. “I haven’t got an real problem with it, since he would back off if I asked. His father and grandfather were the same when I was just a child.”
||  Hal smiled faintly, re-reading the note and putting it into an inside pocket on their cloak. They sighed softly, gazing into the fire for a few silent minutes. “It’s.. Been  difficult. Most of the men are fine, especially when it comes to the Riders because they’ve known me for so long. After all, Star, my stallion is from Rohan. But some of the younger ones, like those in the Halls, keep making inappropriate comments. But they do it out of hearing of the others- when they think no one else can hear.”
||  They snorted when Arawynn startled, dark eyes amused. It didn’t surprise them that the Northern Hawk had first landed on and then gone to sleep on her shoulder. “He’s a Northern Hawk. I found him when I was 20 whilst out hunting and he was drowning in the stream. He’s been with me ever since, although he should have passed a long time ago. So he’s not affected by what normal creatures would be.”
||  Then the Ranger shifted to their feet and headed around the corner temporarily to check on the storm outside. They came back a few minutes later and sat back down again. “It’s starting to ease off now. But do be prepared for a welcoming committee featuring Aragorn and some of the others.”
A soft smile appeared on Arawynn’s face when Hal confirmed her assumption that they didn’t actually have a problem with the protectiveness Aragorn directed at them. “He’s a good man and an equally good leader.”, the Dragon Changer said softly. She respected Aragorn deeply.
As Hal continued talking about the Rohirrim and how they treated them, the redhead nodded. It was a good thing that at least some of them - though of course those who were absent - respected them. And the rest would definitely be taught a lesson. “I seriously doubt they’ll be able to continue that at the Hornburg without getting in trouble. Knowing the rangers they won’t let such disrespect slide.”, she replied deeply serious.
The Rangers of the North were extremely close-knit and especially Hal was both highly respected and well-liked. They wouldn’t remain idle while one of them was being insulted and from Arawynn’s point of view, those who did make that kind of comments deserved any reproach they’d receive.
The Dragon Changer looked at the still sleeping Hawk on her shoulder when Hal explained what was so special about this animal. “Indeed he’s not a common creature. They would never get closer to me than necessary.”, she marveled. Watching an animal up close was fascinating for her.
A grin appeared on her face when Hal warned about being prepared for a welcoming committee. “I would honestly be surprised if they didn’t.”, the redhead commented. She hoped the storm would keep easing off so they’d soon be able to return to the others. The prospect of Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli and the other rangers having to face an army of Orcs without her help didn’t sit well with the Dragon Changer.

My thread tracker should be up to date with those threads I hadn’t added before but still found in my activity.
