My problem is that I love many aspects of urban living and would rather die than move back to the suburbs or the countryside but I'm also an incredibly light sleeper and need like, dead silence to actually sleep.
Ngl I think a lot of Irish people are very naive about how nasty the immigration issue can get. After Minister for Integration, Roderic O'Gorman had his house covered with banners by right wing protestors, one woman we talked to said "ah it's harmless really".
It might be "harmless" NOW but these things escalate and to me it seems like a very clear intimidation tactic of targeting him at his home. The Minister for Justice has received hoax bomb threats at her private home, protests over planned sites to house asylum seekers have turned violent, and the arson attacks on buildings even rumoured to be planned as accommodation for asylum seekers is a clear demonstration that there is an element to these groups that are willing to escalate things.
People really need to look at the growth of the far right in other countries and how easily these things can become violent instead of the response I see far too often of "ah sure it's Ireland. Immigration isn't really a political issue here, it's just a few scumbags, it'll be grand."
you all hate the position i sleep in because you haven’t advanced to my level and you’re jealous of my mental acuity and caustic wit as well as being extremely good at sleeping
Online job applications were a widespread crypto-eugenics program that took hold during the late 20th and early 21st century. These applications were notable for heavy use of videoconference interviews, little to no emphasis on exams and assessments (with rare exceptions, usually implemented to obtain unpaid labor from applicants), and a general disregard for time, scheduling, results, or basic human dignity.
Despite widespread contemporary criticism, the online job application was only abolished after the Job Board Riots in the latter half of the century.
i was playing scrabble and i had a B, U, R, G, E, and R and i thought “aha burger, one who burgs, but my mom will never accept that as a word” but then i remembered burger is actually a word
