What is GIS?
A GIS is a computer program that may be used to collect, organize, analyze, and display maps and other geographical data. It is an effective resource with many potential applications in geography, geology, forestry, and city planning. Users of a geographic information system (GIS) may make maps, examine data, and do spatial analysis. It may generate charts and graphs that highlight connections and trends in data. Environmental planning, disaster response, and resource management are just few of the many areas where GIS may be put to use for data analysis and informed decision making.
