Remy, what's your favorite kind of tea? Either flavor-wise or for other properties.
“For drinking? Anything that’s caffinated,” Remy said. His voice was much less sluggsih; clearly the potion has chased away his morning iritability. “But when it comes to brewing potions, I actually use a lot of ingredients that are also common in herbal teas. Spices, flowers, all that fun stuff.”

Has Virgil learned to spell his name?
“Oh! I know how to do that already,” Virgil said proudly. “Mama made sure it was the first word I could write!”

Can I give Virgil a lollipop? Cause he's studying so keen?
“Thank you,” Virgil says shyly, taking the candy and slipping it into his pocket

Virgil, you're not going to get in trouble for making mistakes ever again
“Indeed, Virgil. Mistakes help us learn and grow; they are not something you should be admonished for.”
“Really?” Virgil asked, his eyes wide, and Logan nodded.
“I promise. Now, would you like to take a break from reading for a little?”
“I....” Virgil eyed the primer again. “I want to try that thing you said, with the capital letters.”
Logan’s chest unexpectedly swelled with pride, and his lips curled into a smile.
“Very well then, let us begin.”

It's a "wake-up" potion, so yes, something similar! Coffee beans don't grow in this kingdom, so coffee is very rare; a very expensive trade item. Tea, however, is easier to get a hold of, and Remy has devised a potion that amplifies the caffiene that is present in the tea leaves he is able to source. It started as a way to help him stay awake when wroking late on projects, then turned into something that he drinks nearly every morning!
What are you working on Remy? Anything new?
“Not yet, it is WAY too early to fuck around with anything experimental,” Remy said, his voice low and gravelly. He stirred the cauldron a few more times, then nodded to himself. He grabbed a nearby tankard, scooped some of the potion out, then downed half the tankard in one gulp.
“Aaah, thats’ better,” he mumbled.

Logan, I read somewhere that it's easier to learn to read in all caps, because the shapes of the letters are more distinct. Perhaps try that?
“Yes, perhaps we could try that, Virgil?”
“I guess,” Virgil huffed.
Logan frowned. “Is something the matter? Would you like to take a break?” `
“No!” Virgil said suddenly, his eyes going wide. “We don’t have to stop just cuz I’m so stupid, I can get it, I know I can-”
“Virgil,” Logan interrupted gently. “You are not in trouble. And you most certainly aren’t stupid."
“I’m...I’m not in trouble?” Virgil asked warily.
“No, of course not,” Logan said, frowning. “Why would you think you are?”
Virgil ducked his head.
“’Cuz I’m screwing up the letters,” he said, his voice barely above a whisper. “I’m always screwing something up, and when I mess up I get in trouble.”

Remy, what's your honest opinion on the situation Patton and Logan got into?
“Honestly?” Remy asked, taking another deep drag from his tankard. “I think they’re in a bit over their heads, but ya know? What parent isn’t? It’s clear that kid has nowhere else to go. Would it maybe be better if he was raised by another human? Probably. But he’d be hard pressed to find someone as loving and supportive as Patton. They’ll be good for each other.”

Whatcha doing Remy?
“Working,” Remy grunted. His eyebrows pinched together, and he gave a bubbling cauldron in front of him a few stirs.

Virgil! How’s it going, and how are you feeling?
“Im....okay,” Virgil said, frowning down at the primer he was going over. He made a few marks on the page with a piece of charchol from the fire then glanced up at Logan. “Is that it?”
“Very close, Virgil,” Logan said. “But not quite. A ‘d’ has a bump going this way-” he traced the shape with his tail. “So you’ve just written 'bog’ rather than ‘dog.’”
Virgil sighed in frustration. “Why do they all have to look so similar?”

What kind of food are you hunting Pat?
“I’m gonna see if I can find a bear or two!” Patton said as he soared between the clouds. “If Logan and I can preserve it properly, one bear’s worth of meat will probably last Virgil most of the winter.”
A flock of geese sounded below him, and he glanced down, licking his lips.
“I wouldn’t say no to a snack or two on the way though!”

So Janus, Remus, Roman, where do you three plan to go next? Do you have a lead on a new... hunt for the three of you?
“We’re going to see the mages!” Roman exclaimed.
“We’re gonna sell them our bones!” Remus shouted gleefully. “Sell our bones and guts and eyeballs!”
“We are heading north towards the mage’s college,” Janus explained as Remus continued listing body parts. “They often will buy what spoils from hunting that regular townsfolk will not. It’s a shameful thing to waste part of an animal when there are many who would put it to good use. Once we finish trading with them we will begin our hunting track once more.”

Time Skip, It is now Morning!
Patton is out hunting for food.
Logan showing Virgil a few books from his hoarde.
Janus, Roman, and Remus are on the road, traveling north (which, for reference, is further away from the mountains where Logan and Patton live)
Remy is working in his potion room.
Everyone is open for questions!

Well, if you're not sure about the books, what kind of stories do you like?
Virgil perked up a bit at the question. “Mama used to tell me stories about brave knights who’d travel between villages and help people. Saving people, battling evil knights, slaying monsters-” Virgil winced and glanced at Logan.
“It’s alright,” Logan reassured him. “I am under no disillusions about what humanity thinks of our kind. And sentient or not, a creature that is attacking innocent people should be fought off. If the monsters in your mother’s stories were hurting people, the knight was not wrong to go after them.”

what kind of books does Virgil like to read?
Virgil shrugged. “I don’t really know? I remember most of the alphabet and how to sound out a few words, but not enough to read long sentences. I barely can finish the most basic primer that Logan has here.” He sounds embarrassed, and looks at the ground as he speaks.

What kind of books is Logan showing Virgil?
“While most of the books in my collection are too advanced for Virgil, I do have some children’s books that Patton has given me, and even some reading primers that I found back when I had just begun collecting for my hoarde. I used them to learn to read myself, and if Virgil wishes, I can help him do the same,” Logan explained. “For now, I’ve brought a slightly wider assortment to asses what his current reading level actually is.”
