the queen princess consort arrived at the wedding ceremony in a tea-length lavender teuta matoshi dress with a sheer bodice and matching fascinator and shoes. for the reception, audrey chose a backless gown from berta baliti’s 2017 collection, which she paired with metal wrought rose gold heels. the ‘ crowning ’ piece is, of course, the chaumet carnation tiara gifted by her father at her wedding.

audrey leans back in her chair unfazed by the mild judgement in cosima’s tone; their relationship is spectacular at a professional level, but the disconnect between audrey and her new home country was harder to swallow. “ oh that’d only make me jealous, ” she jokes, finger tapping along the stem of her glass. “ you’ve got your hottie of a husband here while poor honoré is stuck in monaco. ” she’d made such plans the last few years of their marriage, it’d be strange not to spend this valentine’s day together. “ politics are more violette’s wheelhouse anyway. ” and as long as audrey’s family business benefitted, it was difficult to overcome the inertia of being politically involved.

she wants to rip that stupidly large hat off haera’s irritatingly innocent face -- audrey can’t even remember what exactly they’d argued about, but she knows she was right. “ oh my god, bit-- ” she’s saved from spoiling jinny’s by the ears girl herself, laughter bubbling from her lips as she speaks. “ jinny baby!! how are you?? have you been practicing on your toy keyboard? ” the grin she spares haera is sly and smug. “ and if your mom doesn’t stop acting silly, maybe i can get you a drum set to practice on too! ”

audrey snaps her fingers, nodding in complete agreement. “ yes, girl -- self care is so key. can’t help anyone else if you can’t take care of yourself; that’s why they tell you to put your oxygen mask on first on flights, right? ” not to mention that audrey would take any excuse to relax. “ that campaign must be crazy -- and the vice president is dating your sister? props to your family’s pr team, that can’t have been easy to spin with the age difference. ”

audrey cared less for style than she did for color -- designers for the daughter of an e-commerce and fast fashion mogul were negotiated months in advance, but she’s confident in her stylists’ abilities to manage to meet her tastes regardless of what they decided between themselves and others. “ fine, keep your secrets, ” she teases, fingers reaching out to squeeze dianna’s hand. “ i’ll just be blown away by you the day of. though, at this rate, who knows if we’ll even have a chance to wear anything spectacular. ” it’s the sort of careless thing she can say without worry for journalists intent on misconstruing and decontextualizing her words -- a true benefit of the privacy of the program. “ i thought zahra would be more enthusiastic about the planning. honestly, there’s only two reasons to get married and i’m not sure she has either. ” though occasionally, the journalists were right about her faux pas.
