Jaime scrunched up his nose, shaking his head. “No, not allergic to anything, actually,” he said with a smile, the pair reaching the shop. Quickly, he opened the door, waiting for Aurora to enter the store before he did. “After you, Aurora.”
Aurora smiled at Jaime and walked into the shop as he hold the door open for her, immediately going over to the counter where the ice cream was. “What’re you gonna have?” She asked, looking over at him for a moment.

Jaime smiled in the direction of the co-worker and waved goodbye before glancing back to Aurora, opening the door and heading towards the ice cream shop. “You’re not allergic to anything in ice cream, right?” He asked after a beat, letting out a nervous chuckle. “Because if so, this is a terrible idea on my part.”
Aurora walked with Jaime out of the shop and towards the ice cream parlour. “No, don’t worry,” aurora chuckled, shaking her head. “You’re not allergic to anything in ice cream, right? Because this is a terrible idea on your part if you are,” she teased.

Jaime smiled, giving a wave to the co-worker before looking back to Aurora. “How long is your break?” He asked, head tilting to the side. “Because, we could get ice cream, or something… and maybe you could come with me to the music shop?” He chewed lightly on his lip, waiting for her answer.
“Half an hour,” Aurora replied with a grin, pulling off her apron and setting it down on the counter. "I’d like that.” She told Bo she’d be back in a bit before turning back to Jaime and gesturing towards the door. “Lead the way.”

Jaime’s smile widened at Aurora’s comment, a breezy laugh escaping his lips. “Yeah, it’s pretty nice not to worry about that…. you don’t have to, right?” He asked, brow arching up as he stuffed his hands into the pockets of his jean jacket. “Your boss isn’t gonna come in here and yell at you to sell me flowers?”
“No, I don’t think so,” Aurora laughed, shaking her head. “Not unless Bo tells on me.” She gestured to her co-worker and friend, giving the girl a small smile. “But, I don’t think she will. Besides, I think it’s about time for my break,” the girl looked over at the clock on the wall behind the counter. “So, I might as well just say I’m on it,” she chuckled, looking back at Jaime.

“About the same, busy with work, too,” He replied with a grin, watching the brunette move from behind the counter. His gaze shifted down to an arrangement of daffodils, a finger touching one of the yellow petals. “Oh, I was actually heading to a different place,” he pointed in the direction of the guitar shop, “a few stores over, and I just…” He trailed off, letting out a nervous chuckle. “Well, I saw you through the window and wanted to say hi. Does that sound creepy? Because, I’m hoping not.”
“No, not at all,” Aurora replied, shaking her head. “I’m uhh... I’m glad you stopped by, actually.” She smiled faintly at him. “I mean, it’s nice to see you outside of a party,” she added, chuckling a little. “You know, somewhere we don’t have to worry about being yelled at.”

With no parking close to the music store, Jaime had parked a few blocks away and had to walk past a few stores. But, glancing into the window of a flower shop, he spotted a familiar brunette, and another girl walking towards the back room, in the shop. He smiled, running a hand through his hair before heading into the shop. “Hey, Aurora,” Jaime replied with a wide grin, brown eyes looking around at the greenery before landing on the girl. “How have you been?”
“I’ve been good. Busy with work, but good. How about you?” Aurora asked with a chuckle, putting her arrangement into a vase before coming out from behind the counter. “What brings you in here? Anything special?” She asked, moving the flowers to their display before looking at Jaime with a smile.

( @jaime-chavez )
After the rush of Valentine’s day, the flower shop had quieted down considerably, and Aurora now seemed to have more time on her hands than she knew what to do with. But luckily, spring was just around the corner, and the shop just got in a shipment of flowers for the season. So her and Bo spent the better part of the morning making up bouquets and arrangements, trying to pass the time between customers. She had just finished making up a bouquet of tulips when she heard the bell above the door chime. “Hello!” She greeted the customer with a smile which only widened when she recognized who it was. “Oh hey, Jaime!”

Jaime grinned widely, though it faltered for a mere second when he saw one of the other waiters eyeing the pair. “It’s been great, but I’m pretty sure that Kerry there will gonna rat on me if I don’t walk away soon,” he said, glancing back to Aurora with a sheepish smile. “So, if you could take another appetizer to try to look like I just came over here, that would be great.”
Aurora looked to here Jaime was looking, flashing a small smile at the waiter who was watching them. When he asked her to take another appetizer, she laughed faintly and nodded her head, taking one off his platter. “I’m sorry if I get you in trouble,” she said to him, glancing back over at the other waiter. “But it was nice to meet you.”

Jaime smiled, letting out a quick laugh. “Well, thank you,” he said earnestly, glancing over his shoulder to see if anyone had noticed he was in the same spot for a while. “Ah, I understand,” he replied with a nod of his head - while his own parents had said he didn’t have to attend their parties, he always felt obligated to be at them. “Well, I hope you’re at least having a good time here.”
“I am now,” Aurora said with a small smile and nod of her head. “But, I have a feeling it’s not gonna last very long...” She figured that by now, someone had probably noticed they’d been talking for a little too long. And if they hadn’t, they were bound to noticed soon.

“Your words, not mine,” Jaime said with a light chuckle, shrugging a shoulder. “Prince Charming, actually,” he said, feeling his cheeks heat up for a second. “Partly because the kids are less inclined to jump on me when I’m a prince…. Why are you here?” He asked after a beat, clearing his throat. “I mean… you’re a young, pretty girl and it’s a Saturday. You could be doing literally anything you want.”
Aurora smiled at his answer, nodding her head. “I’m sure you make a lovely Price Charming,” she told him. A blush formed on her cheeks with his words and she shrugged her shoulders, looking over to where her parents were. “I’m sort of expected to be here... I suppose it wouldn’t really look great on the hosts if their daughter decided doing literally anything else would be better than being here.”

“I like the children’s parties our company does,” Jaime answered with a wide grin. “We dress up and everything, like superheroes or princes. Those ones are probably my favorite…” he trailed off, keeping his gaze on the brunette. “Kind of lame, but yeah.”
“Not lame.” Aurora smiled, looking at him. “Sounds more fun than having to serve food to a bunch of rich, old people.” She laughed lightly, taking another bite of her food. “Who’s your favourite character to dress up as?” She asked.

Jaime paused at her question, chewing on his lower lip for a moment. “Well, if asked, I’m supposed to say that I love waiting parties like this,” he said with a light chuckle, glancing to the tray. “But, to be honest, I usually try to get other people to take my shift for these nicer parties. I prefer the other parties my company does.”
“Well, I don’t blame you,” Aurora replied, finally taking a bite out of the food she had been holding in her hands the entire conversation. “What parties do you like doing?” She asked after she swallowed her bite.

Jaime glanced down to her hand as she stuck it out, chuckling softly when she retracted it. “I’ll shake your hand when I’m able to put this down, Aurora,” he said with a laugh, nodding his head once. “Pretty name, by the way. I’m Jaime, but most of the people here like to call me, ‘excuse me, waiter’.”
“Thanks. I like your name, too.” She smiled at him. “So, how do you like waiting at parties like this?” Aurora asked as she looked back out at the crowd, mostly to make sure no one had noticed the two of them talking. “I mean, I don’t even really want to be here, but at least you’re getting paid for it.” She chuckled faintly. “I’ll probably just get scolded later for hiding out in a corner, talking to the waiter.”

Jaime chuckled at her joke, bespectacled eyes glancing down to the platter in his hands then back to the girl. “Oh! So, you’re the…” he trailed off, trying to think of the name his boss told him. “The Archambault’s daughter? It’s nice to meet you.”
“That would be me.” Aurora nodded her head, looking back at the waiter. “It’s nice to meet you, too.” She flashed him another small smile. “My name’s Aurora, by the way.” She was holding her hand out for him to shake, but quickly retracted it, remembering he had a platter of food in his hands.

Jaime nodded as she took one of the appetizers off the plate, saying, “You’re welcome.” He paused for a moment, glancing back over to the party for a moment before back to the brunette. “… Are you related to someone here?” He asked after a beat, cringing at the question. “Sorry, weird question for a waiter to ask. I was just wondering, considering the majority of the guests here have at least two decades on you.”
“No, I just like to hang out at old people’s cocktail parties for fun,” Aurora replied, chuckling lightly at her joke. “This is my house, actually,” she smiled at him before looking over at the other guests. “Those are my parents there,” she pointed them out. “They like to throw parties this sometimes.”

Aurora generally liked parties, but there were times when she wasn’t in the mood for them. Tonight was one of those nights. After spending some time mingling and being friendly, the girl wandered off away from the crowd and began to text with her best friend, Bo. She tore her gaze and attention away from her phone when she heard one of the waiters speaking to her. “Oh, thank you,” she replied, picking up an appetizer off his platter. She wasn’t really all the hungry, but she always felt bad declining when a waiter offered her food or drink.
( @aurora-archambault )
Truthfully, Jaime didn’t like being a waiter at events, especially at fancier parties. Kids’ birthday were his favorite to do - somehow, the costumes were more comfortable than the sports coat and bow tie he was forced to wear for the ‘classy’ events. But, despite him being positive that the red bow tie was cutting off his oxygen, he smiled widely to all the guests, a large, silver platter in his hands. Spotting a pretty brunette, closer to his age than anyone else’s at the party, close the walls, the boy made his way over to her, grinning as he asked, “excuse me, miss - would you care for an amuse-bouche?”

Darry took some of the bags, mildly surprised about the weight of them - no wonder they fell in the first place. “I, uh… well I try,” he said with a nervous chuckle, following a step behind her. “Aurora, cool to meet you. I’m Darry,” he replied, offering a smile in her direction. Approaching the mall doors, he walked a bit quicker, using his side to open the door and holding it open for her.
“Very nice to meet you.” Aurora smiled at Darry as he held the door open for her, and she quickly walked through. The girl turned around and waited for him to walk through the doors before she continued on, stopping at the curb of the sidewalk. “I umm... called a cab,” she said, not wanting to admit that it was actually her family’s driver that was coming to pick her up. “I told them I’d meet them here, so you can-- you can just leave my stuff here.” She gestured to the ground beside her, giving Darry another, small smile. “Thanks, again.”
