truth is, underneath it all, a lot of our beliefs aren't rational, and they're formed young. all those stories of magical protagonists. secret worlds if you just had the key. creatures just out of view. all that shit we imagined doesn't go away because we got older. in a lot of ways it gets bigger, more elaborately built on.

#as someone who sword fights in armor rated for full contact #(though not ful lplate) #this absolutely happens its hilarious #i once had to jump a gap #maybe like a foot wide #and i missed the landing so i ended up #on my back inside a bramble patch #with my helmet visor stuck in the brambles #facing back the way i'd come #and my sensei just looks at me as i am laying there for a moment #and goes “you know i can'th elp you right?” and i was like #'oh i know #give me a moment while i figure out how to ah do this' #i did end up pulling something in my back getting up #BUT I GOT UP ON MY OWN! #and proceeded to eat shit in a puddle later but that was #unrelated to the first fall
