The most obvious ones would be cooking and hiking, but in honesty, he has way more than that. He loves methodical tasks, meaning he spends his free-time (outside of what’s spent for training and studying) doing puzzles, sewing and knitting! He’s been thinking of picking up embroidery, but he hasn’t gotten around to it yet.

Katsuki tends to get embarrassed easily, so if he’s making the move, it’s all about subtlety. Gentle touches, increased praise, little bits of extra help here and there. His inner mother hen comes out, and he tends to be a bit softer with his words. Not his punches, though. He’d never go easy on someone he cares for.

katsuki looks up at the familiar nickname, grip tightening on the iced coffee in his hands.

he tries not to prickle at the mention of his most recent failure, and instead glares at a specific spot on the counter.

though, after the last comment, his gaze snaps back to deku’s. for a moment, he’s entirely incredulous. any apprehension he might have felt after seeing his old friend has melted away, replaced with a distinct sense of… awe? confusion? pure, unadulterated ‘what the fuck?’

katsuki scrunches up his nose, and levels the shorter teenager with the most judgmental gaze he can muster.

“ …why the hell are you asking about this in a fucking starbucks? are you stupid? “

He fidgeted slightly in place his gaze shifting from the ground to the blond.

Shouto finds himself staying up late more and more often in the passing days. It started with a day or two a month, usually on the weekends, giving him comfort knowing he doesn’t have to be up early in the morning; now it’s much more often. Nights are quiet and calm, providing him with everything he needs to think, and there’s a lot of things for thing to think over.

Today, however, his session of mindlessly staring out the common room’s windows is interrupted when one of his classmates arrives downstairs. The noises move to the kitchen, and Shouto eventually gets up to investigate, finding Bakugou in the middle of what looks like an artistic culinary rage.

“You can’t sleep?” He asks before realizing how obvious the answer is going to be. “I can’t either.”

at the sounds of todoroki’s voice, katsuki jumps, right hand detonating and destroying the egg in his hand. flash-fried yolk and egg-white pepper his face, and he very purposefully takes a deep breath before turning around.

he walks to the trash can, what goop and shell remains of the poor egg, and washes his hands thoroughly before responding. he hadn’t had the chance to wash his hands of nitro yet. for a moment, he contemplates not doing it at all, just to make anyone who touches his food a bit light-headed.

but that’s gross, so he decides against it.

instead, katsuki responds with a huff. he doesn’t seem to care whether the answer is obvious or not. “ no. i can’t. had a fucking nightmare. “ he doesn’t give the other much chance to respond, speaking in place of his next breath. “ want to make... pancakes with me? “

katsuki’s no stranger to nightmares. he’s had them for as long as he can remember. if it wasn’t about the usual things, like his mother locking him out of the house forever, or his father finally seeing whatever makes the hag hate him? it’s about more recent happenings.

so when he wakes up in a cold sweat, remnants of a nightmare speeding his heart, it isn’t anything too noteworthy.

katsuki grabs a spray bottle from his dresser - full of a formula made to deactivate his sweat - and spritzes it on his covers before tossing them in the hamper.

he makes his way to the kitchen on autopilot, pulling out eggs, flour, sugar… baking powder, milk, butter…

great. he’s making pancakes at - he glances at the clock on the oven - 3 am. lovely.

“Like, the original Spider-Man, or…?” He finishes waving his hand around the place, in the end pointing to the reboot comic books stack Bakugou picked his manga from. There’s still some hesitancy in his voice and movements, resembling a scared rabbit frozen in place once it spots a predator looking in its direction, but it’s not as obvious as when he jumped behind a pile of books just moments before.

“Because there’s a lot of Spider-Man choices, you know,” he adds after a second, knowing well enough his former friend is as much of a nerd as he is, and knows.

katsuki snorts. “ please, if you had original shit, i’d buy your whole fucking stock. “ it’s only partly untrue. he’d definitely put a dent in his wallet, at least.

he remembers getting his hands on a copy of an old marvel movie. when you can do the things that I can, but you don't, and then the bad things happen? they happen because of you.

“ yeah, i know. dipshits have been trying to reboot marvel shit for - what, 200, 300 years? “ he puts the book in his hands back on the shelf, replacing it with one in familiar red, yellow and blue.

“ but nah, i’m talking about the newer stuff. like… “ a brief, thoughtful pause. “ the one they based off of that actor in 21XX. venom was there, i think. “

The sound of the bell instantly brings Izuku back to reality, alerting him of a new customer entering the store. With its location further from the main streets, and the merchandise consisting mostly of old comic books, the place isn't exactly bustling with clientele. Sometimes it makes the boy wonder if the owner gave him this job out of pity.

Either way, he's not going to complain.

"I'll be right with—" Nearly as quickly as he sticks his head up from the pile of comics on the counter, he dives right back behind them. No. No, no, no, this can't be, this isn't how he planned it— But nothing changes with another quick look. Fuck. It takes him a moment to breathe in and remember how the black washable dye he applies to his hair every morning and the concealer over his freckles should make him less recognizable, and to once again cross eyes with the person he has not planned to cross paths with yet.

"Need help with anything?"
