A second season in Madrid!
I knew this announcement would be coming at some point as a cast member mentioned a second season to me whilst I was there.
There is also more to be announced but I imagine that will be just before or after this season closes at the end of May.
If you can get there before May 2025, I definitely recommend it, the whole cast are some of the strongest I have seen.

So what happens in the Italy/Spain production when the Lasso/rising up the pole doesn’t work properly in the final lair.
Well, one option is the Phantom ‘ties’ Raoul’s hands around the pole and the noose just lightly hangs around his neck (think 2004 movie, kind of).
Raoul is no longer ‘hung’ and he just has to watch (or look away) as Christine & the Phantom kiss, Phantom then just releases his ‘hands’ and removes the noose from his neck.
Very well acted tonight by Manu, Judith & Guido, especially since they went into the scene expecting it to work (the seat for Raoul came out but there was just no rise up), if you didn’t know Raoul was meant to rise then you would have thought this was normal.
It also reminded me a bit of the replica version.

So if you want to see a Phantom who gets really angry in the final lair, then Sergi Albert (understudy in Madrid) is definitely one of them.
Christine (Talía del Val) wanted absolutely nothing to do with him during that scene, I think she almost wanted to jump into the boat and leave Raoul to his fate, she truly seemed terrified of him.
You could tell she absolutely did not want to kiss him, it was completely out of wanting to save Raoul, no sign of any feelings for him.

The problem will knowing multiple languages, they all blend together in my head.
I’m currently in Spain (seeing Phantom again) and I do know some Spanish, I learnt it at school for 5 years and I have been using learning apps to keep learning.
But I also know French (which I have been learning a bit longer but with only 3 years of focused learning) and Italian (learning this by myself but I have been exposed to the language since I was born via family).
So I was trying to say something was ‘good’ last night, obviously I wanted to say ‘bueno/a’, but instead ‘bien’ was said.
Then I was trying to figure out a sentence so the word ‘posibilidad’ came to my head (not the right word in the context of the sentence but at least it was Spanish), but then trying to think of the word ‘another’ the phrase ‘un’altra’ came to my head instead of ‘otro/a’.
It’s very complicated, I know all the right words but can’t put them together with other words in the same language.

I spoke with someone who is close to someone working with Stage Entertainment and apparently Berlin was never on the table.
Unless it was planned to be a different company, Berlin was never happening.

I can’t say anything for certain because I only know what I saw on the Serbia page.
But I do feel like any production that is official/on the website are safe.
Serbia & Bulgaria have never been officially acknowledged by the social media accounts or website, but Hungary has been posted about including in relation to their Anniversary last year and in photo sets with other official productions.
Tumblr media
Today it was announced by Pozorište na Terezijama (the company that perform the Serbian production) that the right holders for Phantom has made the decision that performances will have to be paused for the next 2 years.
This is to allow the Middle East/Europe tour to visit multiple countries including places currently performing Non-Replica show.
This means that Fantom iz Opere (Serbia) and Фантомът на Операта (Bulgaria) will probably have no performances until at least January 2026 and I feel we will not see many new non-replicas open.
I do not believe this will affect Az Operaház Fantomja (Hungary) or any other productions listed on the official website.
Hopefully these productions (and any others) will be able to reopen in the future.

True but I feel that it also makes it less accessible to people in those countries.
The production will be in English, which will cut off a certain amount of the population if they do not understand the language.
The ticket prices are also a lot more for the tour, which is probably to be expected with the cost.
The Bulgarian theatre normally charges around 15.00-60.00 BGN (Bulgaria Lev), but the tour will be 80.00-200.00 BGN.
It is also a loss for the performers from that countries production since they won’t be able to perform the show for 2 years, at which point they may not even be part of the theatre anymore.
I am saying this as some who adores the tour, it has been one of my favourite since I saw it in Norway, I just feel like they could have chosen countries who have never had (Croatia, Slovakia, etc) or have finished their productions (Estonia, Poland & Czechia) rather than taking away the opportunity (for a extended period of time) from countries who have successful productions in their own language, no matter the quality of the production.

Seems like we can say goodbye to Non-Replica productions (except for Hungary, Middle East/Europe Tour & the Cameron Mackintosh production, basically all productions not featured on the website) in Europe for the next few years.

In an attempt to prevent phone usage during shows, i have seen the above on a theatre website (translation of the original text).
I imagine, similar to the rule about flight mode when on a plane, it is a request/rule that people will definitely ignore.
(I don’t know if it is true that’s phone could interfere with with the mics, but surely that would be the case in any theatre not just this particular one)

Waiting for the Det Ny Teater announcement hoping the next show will be something I want to see.
My last trip to Denmark was cancelled because of Covid so would like to make up for that at some point.

Weighing up the cost of trips abroad solo or with my parents.
I’d prefer solo (at the cost of a months wages) but obviously it’s a lot cheaper for me if I take a parent with me (only pay for certain parts of the trip).

This picture is a good comparison between the ‘normal’ and Lucy’s version:
Tumblr media
Hi glass, happy holidays to you,
Are you have a good image of Lucy St. Louis' star princess' tiara? I don't know why in every photo I see the tiara is imperceptible.
PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEE
That's probably because the production, weirdly enough, decided to have Lucy St Louis's Star Princess tiara placed flat on her head or clasped to the back of her wig. Probably the only way to see it clearly is for someone to get some kind of overhead view of her head.
Your best bet might be to consult pictures of the Star Princess tiara on West End actresses from around the same period, such as here and here. Or maybe someone on here does have a good picture of it? Anyone want to help anon?
