Dude, how can it be that every single fucking thing about US politics trends on here immediately, yet when 27 countries in the EU vote and there's a historic, alarming lurch to the right (far right parties have won the elections in Italy, Austria and France), it's not even trending? In Germany, the AFD, a right-wing populist, anti-democratic, racist party with a wing that is officially extremist (read: Nazis) and is in parts monitored by the office for the protection of the constitution, is the second strongest party (also among 17-24 year olds!). Guess I'll die.

I hope western leftists know that standing for a free Palestine is not the end of decolonization. I've seen far too many white leftists who proudly stand for freeing Palestine which is good but then get nervous and apprehensive at the idea of decolonizing the very land they are on. Norway will recognize Palestine but actively tear down Sámi liberation. Liberation for one people means it for us all. If you support Palestinian liberation but deny it for the Indigenous people of the land you're on then you didn't stand for Palestinians or any of us to begin with.

To make matters worse, they were displaced in the winter, living in a plastic tent that offers little protection from the cold, rain, extreme heat and onset of summer. They lack bathroom facilities and can only shower very rarely with a bucket due to the lack of water. Food, when available, is cooked over firewood, resulting in unhealthy and unpleasant-tasting meals. They never imagined a life like this. The war took away their comfortable home, leaving them to suffer on hard floors in the cold. My father’s back problems were exacerbated by sleeping on the floor, with no access to painkillers. When sorrow and difficulties strike hard, hope becomes the lone star in the dark sky. This is the story of Amira, a 23-year-old girl who found herself bearing the burden of her family after her father's death three years ago due to the coronavirus.

After my father's passing, I found myself taking care of my family, consisting of my mother, sister Noor, and brother Abdulrahman. My mother, suffering from high blood pressure and diabetes, faces health problems that further complicate their situation. But courage and determination drive Amira forward.

I worked as a teaching assistant at the university while pursuing a master's degree in data science, and also worked as a programmer in a company. My life was going smoothly until war came and destroyed everything.

My university, workplace, and home were completely destroyed, forcing them to flee south in search of a safe haven. Now, I and my family live in tents for displaced people in Deir al-Balah, where they suffer from water shortages and the spread of diseases, posing an additional challenge, especially for my immunocompromised mother.

This is a brief about our daily suffering.

Hey there, if you are in the US and have kids and you may be struggling with food insecurity this summer there's a USDA website that allows you to search programs that offer free summer meals to people under the age of 18. Libraries, Churches, City Halls, and Schools are the types of locations where food will be available. Some places are just offering lunch, some places have breakfast, lunch, and snacks. Some places are operating only one day of the week, some places are operating every day of the week. Some places require the meal to be eaten on-site, some places have carry-out meals.

If you're worried about getting your kids enough to eat this summer, or know someone who is in that situation, you should check out what's available in your area.
