Hello sky kids! I’m writing some Sky cotl bits and I can’t find good sources of world building/lore information about sky. Things like what are the minerals mined on treasure reef used for? What was food? Was there food? Or any small bits or lore that the game doesn’t explicitly tell you. Even if it’s a head cannon, if it’s kind of just agreed on in the community, I’d love to hear it! monika, as expected from her honour student status, has the perfect notes. i’m talking colour coordination, each lesson written down with perfect accuracy etc. she’s the kind of person that when she makes a mistake somewhere in her notes instead of erasing it and moving on she carefully rips the page and rewrites everything. it’s pretty tiring work, but when she sees the end result she thinks it’s worth it (“it makes revising easier!”)

sayori tries sooo hard to write pretty notes. every start of the school year she is determined to have the most pretty notes ever. and she does follow through with it for a week or two, but after classes start to get more demanding her notes transform into that doctor handwriting that no one but her (sometimes not even her) can read

natsuki does not even try with writing notes in class. maybe she writes some things down when the teacher is looking at her direction to make it seem like she’s paying attention. this doesn’t stop her from owning every single pink themed stationary that she finds. generally, she’s the kind of person to say “this is all just common sense i don’t need to write anything down” which definitely backfires when exam season comes around

yuri doesn’t really care about how pretty her notes are, as long as they are presentable. she isn’t as serious about them as monika but she definitely doesn’t want them to look sloppy. while she is kind of insecure about her handwriting, she doesn’t really mind it when it comes to notes since she doesn’t really have to share them with anyone. that is until the year she joined the club, and natsuki came running to her before their exam season and begged her (“i mean it’s not like i care or anything!!”) to show her notes because she had, once again, not written anything

Season of Shattering Poems

Memory 1 - Jellyfish

The light that swirled here was not warm

These were no drifting currents

Songs lost to the void

Bewildered in final moments of stillness

Memory 2 - Crabs and Dark Plants

Entranced by strange brilliance

And swept into its snare

A familiar glow that hid

Nothingness in its wake

Soft wings flowing to bright beacons

Sky Worldbuilding: Food in Hidden Forest

Continuing to come up with food for Skykids! This is part two of an I-don’t-know-how-long thing (I’m going to do each realm, a bonus on seafood, and maybe combine Isle and Vault into one post)

Forest doesn’t have a ton of settlements - most skykids either live in the Treehouse or Elevated Clearing (the latter of which is home to a community of skykids who farm rice). The others live alone or in small groups in the trees.

Most skykids in Forest have to forage for their food - making mushrooms, berries, vegetables, tubers, snails, and crabs common foods here. The foragers trade their finds to the farmers for rice, and other foods and herbs unique to the Forest for food and cookware from Prairie.

Like Prairie, their primary meal is in the evening (I think I’m actually going to have all the realms do this). In the Treehouse, they tend to cook a massive pot of soup and each skykid contributes one item for the broth (more than once this has resulted in a moth dropping an actual live crab into the soup, who surprised everyone by popping out in the middle of a meal).

Grandma Belonging hosts the evening meal in the elevated clearing, where she also helps teach skykids to cook. Both of these dinners are incredibly noisy and often interrupted by musicians and moths jumping on the table.

Lone skykids simply gather and cook their day’s haul of food, maybe setting aside a little extra in case a lost moth wanders by.

Most skykids move to Forest seeking solitude or introspection, while others form communities seeking adventure or fun in the rain. Others show up to help moths and guide them through the realm - these folk are usually characterized by umbrellas with lanterns hanging from them)

POV: I completely forgot about Wind Paths but they eat similar to Prairie but with access to more types of food given that most merchants travel via the wind paths.
