Thank you so much for being my favorite professor! I have loved the art classes I have taken with you and YOU are the reason I keep taking them and I have become a better artist who isn’t afraid to express myself!! I am sorry for my health issues this semester and the fact that I had to miss some class and I appreciate you being understanding! Even when I wasn’t able to be there I went through all the notes from class and was able to do my color research on my own!! I learned so much about color and I can’t wait to apply it to my work ❤️ thank you for everything!

Life Color Post Week #15
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
1. This first picture is a picture of my dog named chewy in front of a heat lamp. I have been really interested in the colors of fire. How many orange, yellow, and white does it take to make it look fluorescent. The different tones throughout it.
2. This second picture came up on my Instagram this week. Not only do I really like the saying but I think that the colors perfectly match and represent confidence. There light pink and fade into an orange.
3. This last picture one of my friends sent me on her hike because she knows how much I love nature. The bottom is this grey-brown ground with green undertones. Then the trees are very green but still have a darker tone and then the sky is very bright blue.

Question of the Week #15
What’s abstraction good for? Describe some of the reasons why artists might employ abstraction in their work.
Artists have employed abstract approaches to investigate themes beyond the canvas and our physical world. It is so the viewer has to think about what they are seeing. To be able to connect with an art piece in a way no one else may see it. It makes you feel and think.
What does having a physical space to make art mean for your process and how do you make your space work for you?
I think having my own physical space to do work in helps me be creative. I have an area in my apartment where I was able to put a desk and it holds all my art supplies. I like having it just be used for art because it allows me to almost step away from reality and just focus on my work. I have a box of magazines and cut-up fabric that are under my desk for when I want to create fashion designs.

Life Color Post Week #14
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
1. This is a photo of my food and coffee. I went to this cute coffee shop and worked on homework. I really liked how many different shades of green there were in the avocado toast and then with the dark brown spice. I think it looks so satisfying. Also, the coffee is super light brown almost all the way through.
2. This second photo is of the sunset walking out of the Jessup cafe. I think it is so beautiful cause the architecture almost looks like a picture frame for the sunset. These are such vibrant colors. the orange and pink stand out in front of the light blue.
3. This is a photo my mom sent me when she visited my brother in Oregon. The sky almost looks fake because it is so perfectly blue. the back of the clouds is white while the front is slightly grey making it look 3D. the signs below are like a teal blue so it stands out.

Question of the Week #14
How does the location or context of a work of art affect its meaning?
Context can add a lot of meaning. Being able to know the time and place and meaning that the artist intended will help the audience understand the piece. It gives a different experience for the viewer. The location can also affect the type of work or the overall meaning of the piece.
Are there any particular activities that you do every day as an artist?
I doodle every day. I also color in coloring books almost every day. When I have more time I will make projects but sometimes I'm just too busy, but I always doodle if I'm watching tv, or sitting in class. It actually helps me focus.

Life Color Post Week #13
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
1. This is a picture of the sky on my drive home to Walnut Creek. I like it because it is almost a grey-blue sky and the light pink/salmon-colored clouds really pop out.
2. This next picture is a picture from my backyard. My family and I were watching movies together. There are a lot of colors in this photo but most of them have a black tone to them besides the blueish purple of the sky. I also really like how the fire is so many different colors of yellow and orange as long as white.
3. This last photo is of the dinner we cooked. I wanted to take a picture because it is interesting watching meat change colors as it cooks. I also really like the color yellow of the veggies. It's not too bright but also not mucky yellow.

Question of the Week #13
What do you do to keep yourself motivated and interested in your work?
I like to change up the things I make or the different media I will use. I also like doing things in contrast to the different shows and movies that I like at the time. I think also making things inspired by nature motivates me.
Can art provoke change or transform our way of thinking? how?
I think art can definitely change and challenge the way you think. When looking at artwork from someone else not only do you think about what the art looks like and portrays initially but also what the artist meant by it.

Color Theory History
I really liked learning about the history of color. As the chapter says it is easy to learn the basics of color theory but learning the history of color gives you a new perspective. How newton is the first one who that discovered if you blend red with violet you get magenta. It talks about the scientific explanation for colors and the perspective that we have of colors. These are my favorite images from the links. I love how it shows the blends of colors and the tones gradually change. I really like the first one as well because it is a unique way to see a color wheel. This makes me want to experience more with colors and be able to feel and create my own colors just like they were created throughout history.
