OKAYYY ONTO THE EVERYTHING ELSE

dev patel u wonderful man.... i am so glad it didn't explain the entire political situation in depth because it made perfect sense to me and i trust anyone else who is acquainted with politics here..

the things the leaders said were scarily accurate and i thought that the depiction of the underworld and how so many poor people have to resort to illegal means of making a living JUST to survive was aptly horrifying .

the emotions of the actors played a huge role in this too!!! the flashback scene where we see what happened to kid's mom and how his hands became like that... genius . insane . the emotion was very very very out there and raw and bared for the world to see and i liked it so much. the anger, the pain, the suffering, all of it was so palpable it was. a hard watch for me at least

and of course the hijras!!!!! seeing them shown with so much love and respect was so amazing. the scene where he takes of his shirt and they start cheering him on.... yeah. it's really refreshing to see their attraction to people be portrayed as normal or even be acknowledged in the first place and im SO glad he included that scene like.. a bunch of bad bitches cheering you on as u work out? HELL yeah dude.. also the scene right after that where he calls one of them over to try punching the sandbag... so tender so sweet.. i was smiling a lot

AND THE MUSIC oh the music... stellar soundtrack. getting zakir hussain to be in the movie was insanity bhai . i had the absolute honour of seeing him live once and it was amazing holy shit it changed something in me forever. the way he is completely transformed by his passion for the tabla is something that you only really understand when you've seen him play in front of u and it's almost tangible and completely captivating

plus the metal song in the background when the hijras killed all of those men <3 and the fight scene with ooh la la in the background <3 one of my new favourite scenes of all time

AND OF COURSE THE ACTION??? SO GOOD??? he really got in there with it and i ATE IT UPPPP because the action was so visceral and over the top, so much gore and do NAWT get me started on the biting my GOD. i loved it so much and i really admire how he showed all the filthy parts and the camera went rightttt into it!!!! a lot of people complained about the shaky cam and a couple of them were saying the close ups felt uncomfortable but i absolutely loved all of those things because they were what made the fight scenes that much more intense!! and the camerawork gradually getting steadier throughout the movie as he improved my goddd i was so glad it was actually symbolic of his development as a fighter and an individual and not just me reading into things too much.. the shots being so close also made the fights feel incredibly personal and god it hit so hard i loved it so much . it felt scared it felt confused and that's probably how kid felt too so it's amazing that the camera was able to capture the way he saw the fight it made the scenes so much more immersive which i adored!!! i think dev patel should be allowed to bite more people <3

the shots as a whole were gorgeous too there were some really cool dutch angles in there and a lot of sick colour grading and the scene where he tore open his chest was one of my favourites in the movie!!! amazing composition during the ending scenes tooooo i think the shots captured the emotions of the actors really well it was just really really great and i loved it so much THANK U DEV PATEL!!!!!!
