OPEN ROTBTD FANART Requests (Temporary)

Want to request a ROTBTD fanart (Mericcup/Jackunzel/Jelsa/and maybe even Hijack)?? 

I’m currently more active on my IG account and I’ve been doing a lot of art lately. I’ve been meaning to get into making fanart of ROTBTD/The Big Four, especially my fave ship, Mericcup. I may just consider accepting some requests if asked on my Instagram. I might add it to my to do list (but it still depends on the request, of course, and the load of art I’d have at the time.) It’s just that I’ve been planning on drawing them and now would be a good time to ask before I decide on what to draw. What I’m saying is that I don’t mind if ROTBTD fans would message me to ask nicely about whether or not I accept art requests while it’s still in the month of May and I’m willing to consider it XD. For now I can promise to accept 5 requests (because I’m not really sure if you all would be interested in this *insert sweat drop*) I might continue to accept requests after those 5.

What to ask? Ex: Could you maybe draw Jack and Hiccup pranking Merida in Hogwarts?

Mericcup - Penelope AU 🐽 🌸  I realized one of my favorite movies would make a perfect AU fanfic/fanart for one of my favorite ships–Mericcup! This is my first official Mericcup fanart and I’m still figuring out my style for drawing them. good artist tips

there’s always gonna be someone better than you. try to work less on comparing yourself to their work and instead learning from them and turning envy into a personal challenge for your own stuff. i know its hard, trust me.

the best way to get better at art is to practice. there is no special trick to improving, no secret method. practice makes perfect is a tired old saying that im sure you dont want to hear but unfortunately, its true.

draw as much as you are able to. i wont say draw every day!!! because i know that there are folks that dont have this sort of luxury, whether it be because of physical or mental restrictions, or simply because they dont have time. draw whenever you can and have the strength to. try not to be too upset if you miss a day or a week or even months. shit happens, do the best you are able to.

if you get bored or stuck, try another way. change mediums if you can, flip the canvas, do something weird that you wouldnt normally do. sometimes this is the best way to un-stick yourself from art block.

dont be afraid to ask for help. this is so important! its ok to ask for assistance from other artists you admire (given that they have time to give pointers.) even if asking for help is straight up asking for a redline of your work, its ok to ask for it. improvement doesnt come without outside assistance, more often than not.

references are 100% a legitimate resource. i’m not really sure where the idea came from that real artists dont use references, but its not true. every renaissance painter used references in the form of in-house models. disney artists use references of animals and people to correctly model and then correctly exaggerate their designs. you cant learn to draw the world around you without actually studying it. use references, even if its just google searching.

your art is not an island. you will pick up styles from other people like tape picks up pet hair. its inevitable, and its not something that should be seen as a negative. artists inspire other artists. use your discretion, and study what you like about another artist’s work. every artist’s style is a mashup of a hundred other artists. its ok, experiment.

youre not going to make masterpieces all the time. youre gonna suck more often than not. but youre putting effort into something you enjoy and in the process you are getting better, slowly but surely. you arent going to see your stuff improve overnight, be patient.

please be kind to yourself. you are making a unique form of artistic expression, regardless whether you see it that way or not. youre doing fine, please keep going and pat yourself on the back for getting this far.

Hey shippers! Who’s ready for some Jackunzel love because @moonlight-dragon and I, @gryffindorkx, came up with the idea of having a Jackunzel February Special on the month of February 2020!

That’s right, you heard me. A whole month and not one day because I, for one, would love to spread this ship’s love beyond Valentine’s Day.

And I know some of you are probably thinking “What, it’s like December 2019 right now. What’s with the early announcement?”

The answer to that is so you guys can have more time to plan and work on whatever content you want to make for the event! We all have different schedules, so we figured it would be best to have as much time as possible for preparation.

So its concept is similar to Jackunzel Month, but this one is kind of like a holiday special and the rules are quite simple!

RULES:

Use the tag #JackunzelFS20 as one of the first five tags in your post, because Tumblr won’t include it in the search if you don’t.

Feel free to submit any kind of Jackunzel work such as writing, digital and traditional art, a video edit, or graphics. Anything really, so long as it focuses on the ship and it works with the theme.

Crossovers with other characters/fandoms are allowed, so long as Jackunzel is the main subject and that there is no hate on other ships or characters. Always keep in mind to be respectful.

There is no limit in submitting! You can submit one work per theme, or you can submit more than one if you want to. You shippers have the option to post as many as you want!

Have fun and spread the love!

Easy, right? And again, we understand that maybe others won’t be as free as everyone else, so we tried our best to make this event as carefree as possible while still being able to share our love and support for Jackunzel.

I used to walk past this place everyday from school. It’s a very ordinary place - an open field with power lines, unkempt and overtaken by weeds. No one really goes there since it can be dangerous and it’s hard to walk in with the weeds. It’s not a place you would take a second glance at, but there is a raw beauty there. On clear nights you can see every speck of the stars, and during sunsets it captures all the colours of the sky. I haven’t been back in a long time, and I happen to pass by again during sunset. It reminded me of all the dreams and aspirations I had while walking past here everyday. It’s strange how our lives can change so much yet some places stay the same.
