SPACE SPECKS Crew Call - Deadline Change!
Tumblr media
SPACE SPECKS is a post-apocalyptic sci-fi audio drama about the collapse of a space society through the eyes of aspec survivors who called it their home.
With the pilot episode in production for the @podcastjam, we're looking for some folks to tackle dialogue editing, sound design, & music for Season 1!
We've had some amazing applicants so far, & are pushing our deadline up thanks to this! Y'all still have just shy of a week to apply—until April 28, 2024—so be sure to get your name in if you're interested and haven't already done so.
As a reminder, this project is currently unpaid, & we'd additionally like to continue to encourage aspiring creators to apply, regardless of experience.
You can find the crew call here, and here's the links for our application form/Casting Call Club.

F&S S2 Crowdfund: FINAL WEEK!
Tumblr media
Well, detectives, here we are! The dawn of the final week. The finish line that marks that moment where we get to stop posting about the crowdfund (god I've copy-pasted that link so many times) draws near. The end is in sight. But first, we have ONE WEEK to push toward our goal.
We are delighted and honored to say that we have raised 80% of our goal - at the time of this typing that means we are just under $6500 of our $8000 goal we set for this crowdfund. That means we have roughly $1500 to raise in 7 days. Will we make it? We don't know, and neither do you (unless you just found $1500 in a pocket when you were getting out your Spring clothes--no judgement, we WILL accept it!). We hope we'll make it across the line, but the only way we'll all be able to find out is if we spread the word.
SO. If you haven't donated yet and are planning to, this is so very incredibly much The Time to do that--and get one of our fantastic rewards AND some episodes of audio drama! No donation is too small, we truly treasure every donation that comes in whether it be $5 or $750. If you have already donated and are wondering what you can do to help, first of all THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts--and second of all, the answer to that question is to simply tell people we're here. Recommend us to your friends, your enemies, your neighbors, leave us a review, bake some Matcha Focaccia (yes, we have lovely folks doing that already and we LOVE IT)! Spreading the word is the best thing aside from donations that we can ask for.
Also, in case you missed it, as a thank you to everyone who helped us reach out $750 match goal, we released a FIFTH STICKER which will automatically get added to the sticker pack of anyone who donated or donates at the $30 tier or above at any point in the campaign. Check out our "Ask Me About Sherlock Holmes Entering the Public Domain" sticker below!
[STICKER]
We also released a mini-mystery that YOU all helped us create, so if you haven't already, head over to our feed for The Case of the Missing Magician today! And as if that wasn't enough, we ALSO released the recipe for Archie's Lotcha Matcha Focaccia! As we mentioned above, people have even been baking it already!
Again, thank you. And while the future of this campaign, as well as the future of our detectives, remains a bit of a mystery, we will always be honored to tell this story to you, whether we meet our goal and make it at our intended pace, or take a bit longer to make sure it's good enough and our artists are provided for. If you or anyone you know has any doubts, this money will go toward a story we find such joy in bringing to you. If we can make our listeners feel even a fraction of the joy that we feel making it, we will have done our jobs well. It's the best job anyone could ever have.
And now, one more time, for our final week: #ForAmbrosius!

Hi!
I have been following this blog for a while now and I love using it to find new podcasts. I was wondering, if you have time, what you think is the scariest podcast you've listened to or what your favorite horror podcasts might be? Thank you, and I hope you have a great day :)
I'm so glad to have helped you find new shows!
I don't really get scared by horror podcasts (not sure why. It isn't some "I'm tough" thing, I get startled by the toaster, and it's not like I never feel unsettled or concerned or icked out at podcasts, just not scared) so I'm not sure I can give you a good answer on that one, but I'll gladly give you ten of my personal favourites instead:
Alice Isn't Dead: The podcast that got me into podcasts. A truck driver travels the USA looking for her wife, who until recently, she had thought was dead. Along the way she has all manner of strange encounters, and sees a side to the world that few truely comprehend.
Archive 81: A young archivist takes a job at a remote outpost organising and digitising a collection of tapes. On the tapes is a series of interviews and investigations made by a social worker in the 90s as she becomes familiar with a bizzare apartment building. The archivist, naturally, has an increasingly bad time. Each season is part of the same story, but they're all a bit different.
Ghost Wax: Recorded interviews conducted by the last surviving necromancer, and various people who died under seemingly otherworldly circumstances.
Hello From The Hallowoods: Supernatural and cosmic horror. A powerful and dramatic entity visits your nightmares to relay stories of the people (to varying degrees of both human and alive) who inhabit the beautiful and deadly Hallowoods. What start off as individual stories quickly connect to a larger narrative.
Hi Nay: A supernatural horror following a young woman named Mari, who's babaylan (shaman) family background draws her into helping people with various horrific supernatural problems around Toronto. Formatted as phone calls to her mother telling her what's happened.
I Am In Eskew: Often-horrific stories from a man living in something that very much wishes to be a city, and a private investigator who was, in her words, hired to kill a ghost. Many people seem to agree this one is scary.
Janus Descending: A xenoarcheologist and a xenopaleontologist are sent to investigate and sample the ruins of a long-dead alien city, and discover more than they anticipated. The format for this one is really clever: you hear her audio logs first to last, and his last to first, and the story is all the more heartbreaking for it. I'd recommend listening to the supercut.
The Lost Cat Podcast: A man befriends strange entities, loses bits of himself and drinks an awful lot of wine while looking for his cat. Soft and cosmic horror.
The Moon Crown: The shortest on this list, but also one of the most fascinating. A disgraced scribe living in a city of humans, beasts, and other bizzare entities, begins to recount recent happenings, and actions she has a hard time explaining, on broadcast. But the people she's hoping to reach might not be the ones listening.
The Silt Verses: In a modern world where gods are plentiful, both illicit and commercialised, two disciples of an outlawed river god go on a pilgrimage.
Although, maybe some other listeners can help me out and share what scared them?

If you saw this a year ago and thought "that sounds good", I'd suggest you look into @podcast-bookclub. They've been very busy this last year and, from what I hear, have all kinds of interesting projects on the go.
Has anyone tried an audio drama "book club" (pod-club? [better name]?) yet?
I know some people are hesitant to try a new show if they won't have someone to talk to about it, so it seems like the obvious way to solve that, plus help people find new shows and vice versa? I don't actually know how book clubs work.

HEY YOU KID PSST OVER HERE
Tumblr media
Howdy. I'm going to just make an actual post for tumblr. My friends and I are creating a horror comedy podcast about three custodians who go around cleaning haunted buildings. We already have an amazing start and are now in the process of putting it all together! That's where we would like to extend the offer out to y'all. As of right now the project is volunteer based but we hope to someday be able to compensate people for their work. Right now it's a passion project I am my very small team are dumping our hearts, blood, sweat, tears, and even some teeth into.
If this is something you'd be interested in we are still looking for voices and some proof readers (and some other jobs may pop up as we go along) so feel free to reach out to myself or my co-creator @headphone-cat with questions or if you'd like the link to our production discord for auditions!| Any interest applicants must be 18+ we will be age verifying so keep that in mind.
We are so excited to share our project with y'all and look hearing from you!

Some of the folks behind my favorite horror podcast just recently started a new podcast called World Gone Wrong and if you like podcasts at all I cannot recommend it enough
It's a fictional chat show about the end of the world between two roommates currently living half the country apart and they're talking about things like how to werewolf-proof your home against your lycanthropy-infected purse dog and it's so funny but there's something so gentle and empathetic about it that feels so relevant to the way everything actually is. Even though they're talking about pod people.
There's only 4 episodes so far so it's a really quick listen, please listen to World Gone Wrong

A little-known fact about SPACE SPECKS is that not only is it representation for aspec people, it's also representation for directionally challenged people that can and will get lost in a paper bag.
