Breast Cancer
Hey guys I am oh so new at this whole blogging thing but I have a lot of my friends and family telling me to start one! So here goes nothing! They are wanting me to write in efforts to inspire people that have gone through or currently going through what I am experiencing! I am from Alva OK and lovely small town in Northwest Oklahoma. I have a bachelors degree in Social Work and I am currently a Child Welfare Specialist for the Oklahoma Depart of Human Services as a Adoption/Foster Care Specialist! And I absolutely LOVE my job! My niece and little 19 year old brother were both adopted from OKDHS.
Like I said previously I was at the ripe young age of 25 I was diagnosed with stage two metastatic triple negative breast cancer. Before I was diagnosed I went to my local OBGYN consecutively telling her there was something wrong! I had a very large knot/ ball in my right breast. After finally getting my doctor talked into doing a biopsy she came into the room and said Caitlyn you have cancer but I do not know what kind of cancer because it does not mirror regular cancer. I as politely as I could told her walk your happy ass out of her and do some research and come back when you can actually tell me what’s going on. She never did so I asked her to refer me to an oncologist, she also never did that! It took me fighting for myself and calling my insurance, Health Choice explaining my situation and asking where I could go that was approved with my cancer! The kind lady directed me to Stephenson Cancer center which is a part of OU Medical in OKC OK! In future blogs I will get into my different treatments! 😊
