I love seeing the know-it-alls in this fandom shutting down the people who are upset that PB canceled the sequels for these books. What happened to the “let people be happy/unhappy about things” rhetoric that ya’ll love to preach all day everyday? Newsflash Karens and Babara-Ann’s, people are allowed to be pissed with PB for cancelling the sequels for these books. Especially when they teased sequels for these books for YEARS, and in the case of It Lives, Hero, and ROD, PROMISED that these books were coming. You can’t dangle a carrot in front of someone then yank it away and expect them not to get angry.

Most people in this fandom already know where the money for books like Nightbound and Distant Shores comes from. It comes from the trashy dime-a-dozen romance books some people like because they’re horny and need a fix they can’t get in real life. The romance books that literally all have the same bland-ass plot because it requires minimum effort on the writers’ part and minimum braincells to read.

But what disappoints me the most is how the players who love books like MW, TE, and experimental books like Blades, are made to feel like we don’t matter and get shit on left and right. We don’t bring in the big bucks like the Facebook Moms, so we’re unimportant. Way to fucking be inclusive, PB. Oh, that’s right, ya’ll don’t know anything about being inclusive.

The argument people always use is “Well they have to pay the bills somehow” “They’re a company, they need to make a profit.” While both of those statements are true, don’t act like PB is some small business struggling to make ends meet (some of ya’ll act like they’ll go under if they dare to put the slightest bit of effort into making a story). PB is part of a multi-billion dollar gaming corporation, so they are not strapped for cash. They have the resources and more than enough money to make quality stories, but they don’t want to do that because it involves spending a lot of money. The bottom line is making as much money as possible, hoarding it, and spend as little as possible. Rinse and repeat.

While there may be a silent majority that plays this app, that’s no excuse for PB to pander solely to that group (i.e. straight, middle-aged white women). PB could easily make books that would satisfy the fandom. They can make books that put POC in a positive light. They can make books that don’t force women against other women. They can make books that give the LGBT community the recognition and representation they deserve. They can do it.

But PB actively chooses NOT to do this, and that speaks volumes.

That’s because it is. I think we all know they have to make money because they’re a business after all. But this “keeping the lights on” shit that they’re spewing to try to garner sympathy is stupid 🙄 They stay trying to maintain the notion that they’re some broke company. And the funny thing is that there’s people out there who actually believe that lmaooo

Personally, I don’t care about most of those books being canceled, nor am I surprised by it. But what irritates tf out of me is PB acting like they don’t actively sabotage those types of books by advertising their app the way they do, pulling in people who only like vapid romance/petty drama, and then incorporating shitty writing on top of that. And that’s not to say that they don’t want books like NB or DS to do well. Obviously it’d be ideal for every book to be a hit. But they need to stop pretending like they don’t know why they’re not and stop acting as if they absolutely have to write trash smut books to stay afloat 😒
