I have been a professional editorial cartoonist for 36 years, and now I am drawing that part of my artistic career to a close, so I can return to writing novels. It has been a privilege and a pleasure, and what I’ve most enjoyed is giving a voice to the voiceless—championing issues for the “little gal” and spotlighting injustice wherever I saw it.

Happy International Women’s Day, and thank you to every woman in my life who inspired me with their strength, nurtured me with their love and compassion, and taught me with their wisdom. I try to live by your example every day.
