I think I’ve brought something like this up a long time ago, but I’ve always had this headcanon that Flora has some sort of disability or something that causes people to infantilize her.

Her dad has a bunch of robots built so she’ll always have guaranteed friends who’ll treat her nicely, people who can’t get her sick or do anything against their programming. He gives her an isolated tower to live in when he dies, and puts his inheritance behind a treasure hunt to make sure someone else will come look after her, so she’ll never have to work a job or live alone outside the village.

When Layton kinda “adopts” her, he tries to leave her behind on adventures. He says he’s worried about her safety, but then, why is it okay for Luke to come with him? He behaves like looking after Flora takes more work mentally than looking after Luke, which could just be because of her lack of life experience, but what if he doesn’t want her to start having symptoms of something while they’re out?

They both treat her like she’s very fragile and younger than she probably is. I don’t have a specific condition in mind really, it could be anything from autoimmune problems, chronic illness, a developmental disability, neurodivergency, mental illness, whatever. I just think something like that would recontextualize the many moments when people treat her differently from others. What do you guys think? Does anyone have similar headcanons?
