(minor spoilers but) the way dungeon meshi is so completely against instant gratification. it keeps saying the things worth doing are worth practice and care. that to be at your best you need to dutifully take care of yourself.

the number of times laios reiterates that focus, prowess and success come from being well rested and well fed, and that nothing can substitute for that

when they meet the golden kingdom residents and they've been growing food, brewing, ranching, with no end, just to maintain their sanity, and they can't actually taste food any more... a metaphor for going through the motions, having no drive, and losing your enjoyment of life itself... and senshi implies this is not permanent. There's no magical point of no return. If they try, if they want to, they can be present in the world of senses again.

And everything about Mithrun. Exhausted in every panel. Completely drained of life force and will by actual magical means that seem inescapable... but he gets told it's going to be okay. There's no such thing as being too far gone. If you try, if you want to... you can come back from anything. There's no immediate magical cure. But that doesn't mean you should give up. You can enjoy the world again, no matter what's happened to you.
