Maybe it has to do with people wanting to be portrayed as victims fighting back against those who allegedly wronged them. Punching upwards at oppressors! Fighting the good fight against an evil other side like the underdogs we always cheer for!

If you're just part of a much larger majority kicking down at a smaller group then it doesn't look as good.

Also it is kind of hard to believe like I can scroll down the main miraculous tag and find 4 Adrien salt blogs or just random complaints about his character it just finds you no matter what. Meanwhile I barely ever see marinette salt you have to go looking for it specifically.

I really don’t understand the Marinette stans that go off about “the fandom is sooo mean to Marinette! It’s not safe for us here! I just don’t understand why everyone is against her. Tumbler is so hostile towards her!” 

I tap the tag ‘marinette salt’ and there are more posts of people complaining about Marinette salters and excusing her behavior or mentioning a thing about her they found weird but starting it off with how they usually don’t see a problem with her than actual Marinette salt from Marinette salters. And a large portion of the Mari salt I do see is my own posts. 

It’s genuinely a bit rare for me to find posts that don’t ignore, excuse, or downplay her behavior unless she isn’t mentioned at all. 

I literally can’t stop you guys from having a different opinion from mine but can you at least stop pretending that you’re the minority? You’re really not.

It make sense from a certain point of view.

Zoe continues to be a little miss perfect that proves how terrible of a irredeemable monster Chloe is, Adrien has no agency in any decisions cause it's the kwamis choice (and marinettes cause she still guardian) while never being Adrien's choice, and Nino continues to be just completely forgotten and wasted like he ain't even Adriens friend anymore he's just Alya's boyfriend.

So yeah from the point of view of Thomas Astruc it probably makes sense lol

I like that some of the non-bible ppl are assuming that the Kwami’s Choice pairing is going to be Alya and Nino. Cause u know, it makes sense. A person Mari trusts and a person Adrian trusts that already work well together. 

I can’t wait to see their reaction to Kitty Noire. Zoe getting the black cat miraculous makes no sense. Like what connection does she have to Adrian? It’s 2 of Mari’s friends and she isn’t even relevant outside of destroying Chloe’s character. Why would Plagg give her his miraculous. I feel like I should be more annoyed at it but it’s so stupid it’s funny. I want to see how everyone will react to that. 

Guess I have something in The Kwami’s Choice to look forward to after all.

Do you ever see a post or blog or whatever filled with so much hate towards a fictional character that you don't feel compelled to tell them to go outside and touch grass (dont wanna pull the pin on that grenade), you yourself just go outside and touch grass because that's enough internet for one day?

Like seriously, it's a fictional character. There's a real person who wrote it and you can go hate on them but to focus solely on the fictional character seems a little weird to me. Especially if you are praising and being a stan for another character written by the same real person in the same show. A shitty writer is gonna make terribly written characters. Same character in the hands of a good writer can be amazing.

I don't hate Adrien, I just wish he was better written. I wish he could stop harassing the same girl for a date for 4 seasons. I wish he could win a fight. I wish he was actually involved in the plot with any guardian stuff and got to pick some of the other wielders before the entire box got assigned by ladybug. I wish he had any friendships with other characters. I wish he had more teenage rebellion against his clearly abusive/neglectful father.

I don't hate Marinette, I just wish she was better written. I wish she could stop stalking and obsessing over the same boy for 4 seasons. I wish she didn't have to be involved in literally every single plot line and could just take a break like just have some episodes where we focus on adrien or other side characters messing up, causing chaos, and learning a lesson while marniette is just straught up chilling. I wish she wasn't the only necessary hero and powers so other characters could win fights. I wish they did more with her fashion design stuff.

Someone is still gonna think I'm taking a side here and attacking Adrien or Marinette but I'm not. I mean technically I'm calling out both of them cause the thing is they are both being written terribly in an awful show. I don't want to "stan" either of them. If I have to be labeled as something by this fandom, let it be "Thomas Astruc hater" cause so many people could write this better. AND THEY FUCKING HAVE!!!

The answer to your hope question is: DONT!!!

Chat noir is not going to be let in on those secrets. So much of the season 4 stuff that went on behind his back is gonna be swept under the rug because he hugged her and professed his loyalty to her. That's it. It's done. described himself as her loyal partner and pretty much accepted his place as a subordinate considering the entirety of S4 happened. Ladybug has no obligation now to tell him anything more than what she deems necessary. And she ain't gonna tell him "hey so I tried to trick you into revealing your identity to Luka, and Alya knows everything about the guardian book and stuff, also chat blanc is a thing that happened and the lesson i learned was you should never be told anything in case it happens again... BUG OUT!"

And hawkmoth (or whatever they're calling him now) knowing secrets has never been enough cause for ladybug to tell chat noir those secrets as well.

I'm still trying to figure out how much I should dare to hope that Marinette in "Multiplication" is gonna show self reflection while talking to Alya about Miraculous related stuff and begin to have it dawn on her that Chat should FINALLY please be released out of his obliviousness regarding the whole Alya/Rena fiasco in s4.

I can totally give "Evolution" a free pass in this regard, of course, but from "Multiplication" onwards her continuing to benefit from keeping that offense secret from Chat while he is being a picture perfect partner, when Monarque literally knows and Marinette and Alya knowing that he knows, is a fair complaint for me to criticize.

Like, I'm not asking for alot. Even if it's just the set up and realization that she doesn't have to fear loosing him over this and that while it'll be a big pill to swallow for him to find out HOW MUCH went on behind his back, nothing is lost and unfixable as long as she (and Alya ideally) finally let him in so now that Monarque knows about Alya anyway Chat can benefit from having Alya on their side too.

Remember him visiting Alyas balcony in "Rocketear"? Yeah, Adrien FINALLY having a person he can talk about Miraculous related stuff too like this would be beautiful and who better for this than Alya so that they are not only an actual TEAM of three but Alya can help and support both of them to fix their bond for good.

Of course I'm not asking for this to happen in the very next episode, but if we could at least have the beginning seeds of a development like this for s5 then I'm happy enough for the moment.

If we don't get anything like this at all though and the message here is really gonna be that Marinette is entitled to screw Chat Noir over like that and leave him out of a support system he desperately needs since, officially (so Luka doesn't count), there is STILL no one who knows his identity or someone he can at least TALK TO transformed in case he would ever need help, then im gonna continue ripping into this show.

This shit was agonizing to watch in s4 and I will continue calling this show out for this insulting scapegoating bs in s5 if I have to. What I just proposed above is not in any way too much to ask for (despite it still leaving Adrien without a person who knows his identity although he would need one for his own safety) and I'm not even asking for any of this to happen right away in "Multiplication". All I want is the general set up and the confirmation that Marinette will at last soon release Chat out of his obliviousness so I know that Adrien is finally gonna get treated with dignity in all of this by his own partner and team from now on.

Season 5 don't let me down, I'm counting on you. I'm not asking for too much. I WILL call you out.

I know I'm missing a couple akumas and miraculous and probably should continue my enjoyment of the sun and summer weather. But if I truly wanted to unplug I wouldn't have brought my phone lol.

I actually didn't compare destruction just called Thomas's version weak (even funnier when you know in development the black cat did have other powers like shooting a destruction laser beam and making a hole in space but now they just arent doing that cause that might make catboy look stronger than buggirl). There's the my hero academia villain that can disintegrate people with touch, dust style users from Naruto like that floating dwarf guy, and the power stone from marvel can just destroy people.

Also ladybug has that yoyo to swing around and it's not really a power but it's obviously just a rip off of Spiderman. Like he uses web shooters to swing around and fight. Except it makes sense for him cause spiders have web where as ladybugs have wings so ya know... ladybug would probably use some kinda flight to move around but naw they decided to rip off Spiderman cause people like him and they want people to like ladybug.

So let's start doing miraculous I guess, that covers the... "equal" creation and destruction duo so how bout tier 2?

Fox : illusions you already covered with loki and there are others but loki is a good one. Also volpina is just a fox copy so that's another Akuma done!

Turtle : shields and forcefields. Funny thing is that isn't so often its own power like many times people have it as part of their power set like the shield alone would be kinda... weak? Zatanna of DC can make bubble shields, Dr. Strange can make shields, Adam Warlock can do it, even Ironman can do it with tech.

Bee : inflict the status condition, paralyze! Its super effective. Toad from x men could do it, Ty Lee from the last Airbender could do it hitting pressure points.

Peacock : make a monster, sometimes just make a whole ass person! This is tricky because not often do people just have the power to make a whole ass monster/person. Usually the story just has monsters and people running around. But Naruto had plenty of monster summons or creation out of materials like paper or ink. Make a person? Full metal alchemist has a thing called homunculus, an artificially created person.

Butterfly : oh boy, the power to just straight up give a person super powers, including yourself. And also MIND CONTROL cause Thomas really fucking loves that I guess. Mind control is over done so let's focus on the power giving. So All for one in My Hero can steal a power and give it to someone else. But also Shazam from DC can actually bestow the power set onto others and create allies and champions. Granted it's limited to only the powers of Shazam, cause it be pretty ridiculous if you could give someone any power with no rules or limits. That would be over powered and broken beyond repair like why steal other miraculous you can just create copies of those power sets with an Akuma with no dumb 1 use limitation. Plus you are mind controlling those people so that doesn't seem to be an issue either. Also you can just give yourself a power apparently (thanks The Collector episode) and also create an army of Akuma like this (Scarlet Moth) so basically youre overpowered to the point that a writer would have to severely handicap your intelligence and strategy to give the hero even a chance to win. Like to the point you just don't try those strategies ever again. Or even go after people you know are the hero's allies. You just keep throwing out a villain a week... for an in universe year... and 6 actual years.

So that's the second tier but hey the butterfly is so powerful who would even bother with that third tier like you can literally make any power you want without limits... even time travel for goodness sake!

Horse : teleportation. Nightcrawler from x men and Dr Strange if you're looking for that circle portal action.

Dragon : oh Elemental control! The last Airbender, human torch from fantastic 4 oh wait that's fire something dragon don't got. But hey how about storm with wind and lightning. Water is aqualad. So a 3rd tier gets like 3 powers in 1? Huh.

Mouse : shrink and duplication. You nailed it with ant man he got the shrink and Billy numerous is a duplicator so there's that... so 2 powers in 1? To another 3rd tier huh.

Bunny : Travel through time or just sit on your ass watching any time any place. Well booster gold from DC travels thru time, the Stranger can observe all sorts of time also in DC, and hey the Flash can travel thru time as well. However it's repeatedly talked about that going back in time is insanely reckless and can have horrible consequences, like even just showing up and talking to young versions of heroes, telling all kinds of stuff about their future, is incredible irresponsible. Especially if you show up, kidnap one of them, throw them into a doomed timeline with no explanation just to pull them out so they can fix it by going back 5 minutes from when you kidnaped them after seeing all kinds of shit that would give them nightmares and change their views based on false assumptions ALL BECAUSE YOU COULDNT BE BOTHERED TO FIX IT YOURSELF!!!

Snake : foresight but also time travel I guess with better rules. Like good restrict it to a couple minutes no need to go all bunny reckless up in here! You touched upon this with Dr. Strange seeing potential futures to find one where they win, yes good example but also how about Destiny from those x men comics (wow so many powers from those x men) she could see potential futures like snake boy gets to do.

Tiger : super punch? Yeah you nailed it ONE PUNCH MAN! Except she only has one punch... man! Also literally any super strong puncher i guees. But hey at least it's much cooler than that pussy black cat. So much power and capable of so much destruction, and such a cooler cat too! It's not like juleka could get a sonic roar to show she found her voice or invisibility to weaponize what she thought her weakness was. Nah make her another destruction cat but COOLER!!!

Pig : force them to think a happy thought! This some mental manipulation like you reach into their head and make them see happy thoughts. Hey professor X! She can make people see good memories and have happy thoughts too. Can she do anything else with it? No? Just a happy thought? Wow you are useless in an actual fight why would ladybug recruit you for any fight that doesn't involve a sadness aura. Cant imagine you trying to fight giant death robots or a gold safe with the power of posivite mental attitude would actual contribute to the fight. But hey could always hit chat noir with it if he tries to kill himself again.

Monkey : lol he so random, hit em with the chaos. Scarlet witch can mess with reality and people's powers, changing them and what not.

Goat : create an object dude come the fuck on that is just ladybug but incredibly weaker and her power ain't original so whatever. Could've been an induce sleepiness or make them tired thing like counting sheep but that's asking too much of these writers I guess

Ox : invulnerable or immune to powers? I'm unclear what his deal is but you got people like colossus or the juggernaut from x men that are just unmoveable walls of steel and muscle but also a mutant that can just cancel out powers around them so that covers that I guess.

Dog : touch thing with ball, teleport thing and ball back... so teleportation but with some very specific rules and needs some damn good accuracy to even be viable.

Rooster : The power to pick any power you want is just stupid. You couldn't just give rooster a power? Speed? Noise? The ability to speak and understand any language? Giving yourself a power sounds like the butterfly only rooster just gets to do it, no weird self Akuma thing necessary.

So yeah I think that covers that... did I miss anything? Oh yeah

Sandboy : nightmares become real, scarecrow from DC has fear gas to make you see your worst fear and I believe there's a Dr.Strange villain literally called nightmare cause he just... makes nightmares real.

So uh... Thomas, you've got 19 chinese miraculous, one native American miraculous, the progidous, and can we even count the New York heroes? (Also, like half the miraculous hadn't been used 'till season 4)

Lady wifi : internet powers? Kinda she teleports thru phones and throws pauses at people. Cyborg got internet connections and tech stuff but also Control freak with his television and internet powers. Both from Teen Titans.

Prime queen : television powers, she can make and see thru cameras, teleport thru TV screens and wait this sounds familiar?

Onichan : another person with a sword who can teleport thru peoples phones OH COME ON! 2 is a coincidence but 3 is lazy writing! Am I referring to teleporting thru screens or a person with a sword? YES!

Refleckta : making copies of yourself. There are already duplicators out there, I think of Billy numerous from the Teen Titans, it's a Teen Titans kind of day lol. Except that she actually doesn't make copies she just turns people into her but they just look like her she doesn't control them so they can fight back... this sounds like a shitty duplication power.

Syren : floods Paris and can breathe underwater... so like aqua man, aqua woman, aqua lad, any of the Atlantis people from DC

Stone heart : I'm really in a Teen Titans mood that's cinderblock the big rock man

Gorizilla : king Kong

Kung food : uses food as weapons. Can't think of comic references but oh look! The lunch lady ghost from Danny phantom and Grandma Stuffem from Kids Next Door! Sorry Thomas, other kids cartoons beat ya.

Glaciator : same thing as Kung food

Weredad : rage strength. He's basically a furry hulk

Qilin : telekinesis which is just Jean from x men... or Raven from Teen Titans

LADYBUG : power of creation! There is a character called Adam Warlock in marvel that can manipulate energy to do whatever he wants, including creating objects, healing others and himself to the point of resurrection and can transmutate matter!

CHAT NOIR : power of destruction! It's been done before, but I will give credit where it is due... this is the weakest most pathetic destruction user I have ever seen. Like he is unique in that he is the worst destruction wielder ever. Then again chat blanc got some proper power but technically that was the butterfly giving him that power so that makes the butterfly better at destruction than the black cat. Don't worry I'm not hating chat noir, he is a fictional character. Any hate would be directed to real life writers who took a simple concept like destruction powers and completely trashed it.

Okay, so, like, this is obvious. The fact that Adrien doesn’t like the fame from the photoshoots and magazines, etc etc, is canon. He was shown to be creeped out when Wayhem just fanboyed over him and his ad and posted him on Insta. But the fact that him, as Cat Noir, loves the fame he gets from his fans, is canon too. Is this bad writing? No. Does this make sense? Yes.

Adrien hates the fame he gets as Adrien - because he’s being fawned over for the wrong reasons. As Cat Noir, he’s more comfortable in that skin, he’s fine with the attention he gets.

So, in conclusion, he wants to be loved for who he is rather than for who he is not. He doesn’t hate attention, or constantly want devotion.

So uh... Thomas, you've got 19 chinese miraculous, one native American miraculous, the progidous, and can we even count the New York heroes? (Also, like half the miraculous hadn't been used 'till season 4)

The New York heroes: straight up rips off DC and Marvel (Majestia=superman, Knightowl=batman, probably more but I didn't pay much attention to them)

Turtle: Uh... force fields ain't original

Fox: Illusions. Once again, ain't original. Also, Loki

Bee: I'm pretty sure we've seen paralyzation before. And mind control

Rabbit: ...dude. Time travel is straight-up a classic.

Snake: Uh, Doctor Strange in Infinity War (I haven't seen either Doctor Strange movie, sorry)

Goat: Thomas you copied your own power

Ox: Isn't this called being impenetrable (also, I came up with a character of my own who was impenetrable before season 4 came out!)

Dog: Uh... summoning things isn't new

Mouse: Multiplication isn't new. Neither is shrinking. Can't think of anything specifically, except maybe Antman?

Peacock: Uh... first couple of monsters in Sailor Moon were people made out of clay. Pretty darn close

Tiger: One punch man. One punch man. (I haven't even read/seen it and I know about one punch man!)

Horse: Once again, portals are a classic (I have characters with portals)

Dragon: Serafina in Serafina and the Splintered Heart. She can turn into different elements too!

Also LOL the possibility of Chat noir becoming more powerful than ladybug or even equal is ridiculous. This show has spent 4 seasons using chat noir as a punching bag, having side characters be more important and useful than him in a single episode, and making it very clear that he will NEVER come close to being on ladybugs level.

The fact that person not only believed the possibility but was very upset by it, is hilarious!

Do you think it's bad if Adrien is being more powerful than Marinette? I have a friend that was upset at the possibility CN will get a powerup because "it's just wrong. The show theme is girlboss and girl power so having CN get more powerful than LB will destroy that theme." She said and I'm not sure I understand how cn being more powerful than lb would destroy the theme.

A. there's not hint of CN getting more powerful than LB. LB started off with the stronger powers to begin with, since she both has Lucky Charm AND Miraculous Ladybug, CN getting a powerup would be more akin to finally catching him up with LB power-wise - especially since Chat doesn't get to use Cataclysm to its full potential very often, mostly just using it to break akumatized objects, even though it's rarely necessary for that task.

B. Girl power isn't necessarily about just having the best in-universe stats and powers anyway, it's about being able to use them well, and having the agency to make their own choices and have them matter, and to be a full, complex character.

C. If "Girl Power" requires pushing down the male characters in order to make the girls look better, it ain't helping anything. It's just replacing one oppressive system with another.

If your answer to someone pressing a boot down on you is to make yourself the one wearing the boot, and the other person the one underneath it, that tells me your problem wasn't with the idea of someone being pushed down, but just with YOU being pushed down.

It's a shame but it's what he is there for. Luka was never written as a character, he was written as "hot music guy" so maribug could have an alt love interest that wasn't chat noir.

Look at his intro episode, all he does is play a guitar chord and suddenly maribug is smitten with him. He doesn't get time to show an actual personality cause the writers make it clear that he doesn't need a personality. His traits are plays music and loves marinette end of character development! he is other hot guy for marinette because LOVE DRAMA!!!

The jagged stone is his father thing just happened without any real buildup or hints because it wasn't important (having hair dye and playing guitar was not foreshadowing shut up) It would be important for a character to have that built up and revealed but he ain't one. So they just kinda drop that in there and then... don't do much with it like Luka just has jagged stone dad no issues between them whatsoever. Juleka gets to feel neglected by him and anarka gets to obviously be very pissed off but Luka kinda just chills in the corner doing nothing.

Wishmaker and ephermal could be big for him... but pretty sure he just gonna be a ladybug safety net (like she doesn't have enough of those already) and he ain't gonna interact with adrichat. Like at all.

Bonding with Chat noir? Yikes! the very idea! Like maybe he'll do it if it involves maribug in some way but just as a purely "let these 2 characters hang out and develop together" way? Nope. Nuh uh. Never.

Cause chat noir ain't a character either. He is comedic relief that gets bested by everyone else in everything else. Villains curb stomp him. Allys emotionally curb stomp him. And nobody likes his puns or jokes, they even constantly make him the punchline. At least his Adrien side gets to be marinettes love interest. It's the only thing keeping him relevant cause that destruction half thing sure didn't pan out lol weakest wielder of destruction the multiverse has ever seen!

So yeah, damn shame waste of potential of characters.

I see people talking about why the lovesquare is toxic but not Luka and Marinette’s relationship? Especially when it’s like 90% of Luka’s character. 

Their relationship is extremely manipulative. I haven’t properly watched the show and only watch it through clips, reaction videos, and reviews and even I find it obvious. 

When they were dating, Marinette didn’t think for a second to try and get over her obsession crush on Adrian. She didn’t even get rid of her multiple 3-year-Adrian-schedule’s or her chest(?) of presents for him, let alone things Luka would see like the pictures of him on her wall. And he clearly did know, according to Truth. 

This post perfectly sums up most of what was wrong with the relationship at that time. Basically, Marinette was seemingly projecting onto Luka, pretending he’s Adrian. On top of that, she kept having to leave him behind because of akuma attacks and never thought about evacuating him from the area. 

And here’s where we see the large part of Luka’s character that no one talks about. This is the beginning of Luka thinking of Marinette similarly to how Chat Noir thinks of Ladybug. Specifically the part where he fully trusts Ladybug to the point where he rarely (if ever) questions her even when she makes no sense and puts way too much dependence on her feelings about him for no confirmed reason. Luka is the same way, especially after Wishmaker. Heck, at this point I think they might’ve just made Luka finding out their identities just be for Ephemeral. Aka it was for the lovesquare and not Luka’s character. 

Unlike Kagami, who is supposedly Marinette’s rival and wasn’t supposed to be as liked as she is, Luka doesn’t defend himself against Marinette being a bad partner. I don’t count him being akumatized because that’s more a villain based off of a person’s negative emotions than the person themself. After everything that happened, Luka still didn’t want to lose her. She treated him like shit for a reason he didn’t know and he still wanted to be close to her. So much for being the calm mary sue the fandom portrays him as. 

After they break up, Luka becomes one of the temporary heroes Ladybug uses as a puppet whenever she needs and he wants to be friends with Marinette. Alya also supports this and forces Marinette to try and make up. 

What does Marinette do? 

She goes to his twin and asks her to uninvite him from his own birthday party so she doesn’t have to feel awkward. And when she sees him there anyway, she freaks out. Yes, she realized what she did was bad for once, but only after making a scene and getting angry at Juleka for him being there as if the whole thing wasn’t her fault. And no one, including the twins, got mad at her for it. She apologized to Luka for avoiding him and he just accepts it. You’d think someone as attentive as her would’ve noticed by now that he never asks her anything, but she still hasn’t. 

In Wishmaker, Luka is Marinette and Adrian’s support snake. He actively seeks her out when he sees her, leaving his booth with thousands of dollars worth of instruments just to be with her (though that one was prolly just bad writing). Later, he gives Marinette and Adrian a pep talk on what they want to be as adults. Later later, he discovers Ladybug and Chat’s identities and lies about it, and clearly feels guilty. Adrian didn’t do anything to him, but Marinette lied to him a lot and he still felt bad about lying once. It really still says something that he automatically felt bad about lying to a liar, despite it being for good reasons. 

Then there’s Ephemeral. I could go on a whole rant about what this episode shows about Luka but I’ll try to stick to his relationship with Marinette. 

First thing we see of Luka is Ladybug ordering him to try every combination of a safe. And he doesn’t even question it. He just does it. Not even a gasp of surprise. Then when she was collecting the snake miraculous from him, Su Han shows up. This causes the one and (so far) only time where we see Luka’s calm mask slip for more than a second. 

Luka was clearly very nervous. So nervous he questioned Marinette’s decisions for once. Ladybug was so busy with her identity reveal bull that she didn’t notice Luka or take his feelings and safety into consideration. She didn’t even care that the plan included him being alone with Su Han. She of all people should know by now how dangerous and intimidating Su Han is, but she was fully willing to make Luka talk to Su Han alone without thinking of all the things he could do to him. 

Later, Luka comes to her rescue again with her ‘crush’ and convinces her to take a chance on him. The rest of the Lukanette moments were extreme cases that don’t say much about their relationship so I’ll ignore them. 

But yeah, that was the essay. I fully encourage ppl to add onto this cause it needs to be talked about more.
