Summary:

Once the rabbit got a little fidgety, the guy handed him back. After a brief pause he said, “Softer than I thought.”

“Aren’t they?” Max hummed.

A silent moment passed. Then another. It seemed they’d reached the end of this interaction in the stranger’s eyes. And so, he turned to leave. Wait, they weren’t done yet!

Max rubbed the rabbit’s little head and said, “I’m Max by the way! I work here. Obviously.”

The stranger paused and looked at him. His gaze fell to the nametag on Max’s chest then returned to his face, as if silently pointing out that he already knew that information. Instead of anything snarky like that, however, he simply said, “Rayne.”

“Nice to meet you, Rayne.” Max replied, quite sincerely. He smiled from ear to ear, held up the little rabbit, and added, “I hope you’ll visit again so you can meet the others too.”
