I had to pause this a lot because I almost started crying. Miles nails why I look up to Gray.

felt this way too, christ i know its unlikely, but i’m kinda hoping they’re pulling a taylor swift on us- disappearing completely then reappearing twice as strong
Look I love RWBY at much as the next RT loving chuckle-fuck but can RT stop trying to sweep RvB under the rug and shove RWBY at us year round?
It’s Feburary. No RvB panel at RTX Sydney, no announcement for the new season, no DVD release of 15, minimal marketing while 15 was running, huge time discrepancy between FIRST and other fans being able to actually access 15 making the community’s interactions extremely difficult, removal of RvB marketing on the RT site, minimal merchandise for 15.
Meanwhile it is almost impossible at this point to escape RWBY. Constant updates, RWBY Chibi, Grim Eclipse, marketing all over the site, constant advertising on twitter, new merchandise SO MUCH new merchandise.
I really enjoy both of these shows but I am so frustrated loving a property that RT themselves don’t seem to care about anymore while they simultaneously go above and beyond for RWBY. I really feels like a slap in the face to the RvB team who worked so hard as well as the fans who aren’t getting any much needed communication.
EDIT: 16 HAS been announced. I consider myself a pretty avid fan and the fact I didn’t know until someone told me on a rely to this also says something

I feel bad for the man, like, I get that people will dislike characters but to push through the show and actually call out the creators? I hope posts like these and the AMA will demonstrate how much it really affects someone to stir up hate because of something that’s objective as characters
People are getting the wrong message from Kerry and Miles’s statement about writing Jaune.
The exact thing they said was Kerry and Monty are largely responsible for pushing Jaune to the forefront over the years, and that Miles actually doesn’t like writing Jaune’s scenes because he knows whatever he does with the character it’s gonna get him accused of self-insertion.
To the anti-Jaune crowd: Regardless of how you feel about Jaune’s presence on the show, the takeaway should be Miles isn’t the person responsible. RWBY has always been a team effort - whatever critiques you have about the writing, aim it at the writers, but don’t decide personal attacks on them based on your perception of the characters is somehow okay. If you have a legit critique about the writing, fucking critique it, don’t bring up Miles’ opinion about the Korra finale as though that’s somehow “evidence” of poor writing (that legit happened last time I posted in rwde).
To certain folks criticizing the anti-Jaune crowd: I have no general opinion on how much screentime Jaune has, but I will say if you think this somehow disproves their claim that Jaune has too much screentime you need to look elsewhere. This just shifts their blame to other people.

RvB season 13/15 speculation
I’m pretty late to the community but god damn have I been missing out. Thank god MurderofBirds started reacting to it or I probably wouldn’t have gone back to give it a watch, despite being a RT fan (never played fps)
these are some thoughts I’ve been left with since season 13 and especially since 16 has been confirmed, which won’t be for a long time I’m assuming..
spoilers under the cut, unless you’re on mobile and that just works kinda funky
First off, Washington.
I understand he was delirious, but I don’t see why he would be the one to wander off and get shot in the middle of the fight. I’ve come to three conclusions with what the RvB crew were trying to do with this:
1. Tucker’s hastiness needed to have a negative impact and Wash being his ‘father’ figure would be the drawback to his actions. This was something I picked up from the tvtropes site and seems to be the accepted reason unless I’m missing more theories.
2. Wash needed to stay out of the other scenes, whether it was because the crew thought side benching him for dehydration and malnutrition wasn’t enough and had to fucking shoot his throat, or because he has something (knows something?) that would have changed the way things played out. As Smith, Caboose’s private, had said, Wash wanted to tell them something important (then played it off as a joke as it was the Ducktales theme, but that could be a red herring from the real message..? since RvB does love their foreshadowing.)
3. With the Meta’s armor, perhaps Wash is going to resemble Agent Maine? As Locus pushed Wash’s morals into question and seeing Wash have some kind of nightmare before waking up in the Fed Base. If it were something with Locus and Wash switching ideals, I’d be very interested to see how that would play out. (Then again, it could be something with the voice actor. Whether they will implement a “synthetic voice” for him via Dr. Grey or have him growl like Maine, either will be interesting.)
Secondly, Church.
The asshole. From season 13, Epsilon-Church makes it sound as though he were going to repeat the process of fragmenting as he was beginning to enter stages of rampancy. I wasn’t familiar aside the freelancer scenes on it but with Malcom Hargrove expanding that Epsilon is “outdated” and unable to assist with Maine’s suit, I wonder if his deconstruction implies that he was able to get an upgrade (not a power boost) for the price of his old data.
If so, I can see 4 possible outcomes from this:
1. After the battle in Chorus, Epsilon/??? is recovering from energy use and has not appeared before the BGC... Yet. He’s possibly still in the suit. He will probably be like any AI without personality (though FILSS seemed to have a personality as she ‘disliked’ Malcom). Epsilon had an interesting moment with his outburst which seemed like a progression into rampancy, and inheriting this would be an interesting play on his speech, as his memories were what made him ‘human’ and becoming rampant without attachment could even result in a worse fate.( Evil AI)
2. Alpha-Church, having been baited in season 15, did survive and may collide with BGC again, or has a back-up somewhere. In this case, he wouldn’t be familiar with Carolina or the other newer characters and of course it would be interesting to see what could happen if someone were able to get their hands on him all this time, possible being able to corrupt him or actually imprison him like Temple said, though I know it was a lie, it’s hard not to take things a little more serious with RvB (and somewhere, not too far, Miles and Burnie are laughing their asses off)
3. Epsilon mentioned he recorded multiple videos, but it seems as though the BGC crew did NOT see his message as they say he ‘disappeared’, not that he sacrificed himself to the suit. This supports my first theory of his recharging process, but it could also mean later iterations of Church will be through video films like S15. Other AIs may start to go into production and for one to have the same voice box as Church wouldn’t be too surprising I’m sure. It won’t be Church-Church, but neither was Epsilon in all honesty.
4. A youtube comment actually came up with this but, with the season 13 trailer implying that the whole season was through the eyes of Epsilon (with the background of the other members when they rejoined), it would ruin the moment to play the last act as though he did survive, among different reasons. Season 15 definitely did give a good throwback to those who miss Church by giving a final goodbye, and it’ll be as interesting as it is sad to continue the story without him.
Of course, there’s loose ends with the Mercs and other Freelancers, but because S15 was a contained story, I don’t think there’s a clear view of what the next season may be about (as it usually is) but I want to hope that they’ll get into more longer arcs and bring up more detailed plots like they’ve always done.
RT Animation has a busy year ahead of them with Nomads of Nowhere coming out soon, Gen:Lock being worked on, and the next RWBY season to plan for among others. I just hope it won’t be too much for them to handle (animators like to overwhelm themselves with projects it seems)
Catching up with RvB is one hell of a ride and having lost an endearing character like Church makes me wonder about how the story will continue. I’d like to see more series as dark, humorous, and flat out gritty as RvB and any recommendations are very well appreciated.
