Please describe your character’s family dynamics. Emily is not particularly close with her family. They’ve never been the hugging type of family, in her opinion. She never was able to connect with her brother and her parents kind of let her do her own thing. She’s used to being on her own, at this point.

Plans for Development.

I’d like to see Emily try to date. She never had much interest in it, but lately she’s found herself looking around her house and feeling like it’s empty. Most of her co-workers have partners in one way or another and she’s started to think now that she has her career stable enough she might want to look for something more personal.

Emily wants to make friends. she’s lived in the town for almost a year and doesn’t really know anyone beyond professionally. She’s decided to put herself out there and try to really start a life for herself in Lemon Grove.

I really want to have Emily write a book. She’s always had a love of teaching and sharing information, and she’s been trying to write a book about why botany is so interesting.

Character Biography

Emily was born to Paul and Stacy Karofsky. She was never close with her little brother, though she tried. He was always more interested in hanging out with his friends. Emily spent most of her childhood outside by herself. She loved nature and often liked to play in the woods behind their house. Her parents believed in children learning their own lessons, so they never really kept a tight leash on her.

As she became a teenager and all her classmates started dating Emily was trying to pin down what she wanted in life. She finally settled on botany. She loved plants and nature, and learning about them seemed like the perfect fit. She took every science course she could in high school, also nabbing math classes where she could. She was extremely talented and was offered scholarships all over.

She ended up going to Oxford on a partial scholarship. It was one of the best schools in America for what she wanted to do. Once she got there she realized it was going to be harder than she thought. Her AP classes were most likely the only reason she made it past first year. After that she began mentoring under one of her female professors. Learning more about her passion and how to study and succeed properly.

After six years of schooling, and five of teaching herbology classes at the few schools and programs that offered it she was offered a position at Orchard Park Community College. She’s been working there for a year as the botany professor. She adores her job, though she has found herself feeling lonely lately.
