it's the way that jess is so smitten with cam in the three amigos verse but if he shows her any surviving pictures of when he was a kid she's cackling and then apologizing and complimenting his glow up. and asking him to never fully shave so he never looks textbook chad ever again

thinking a lot about the verse lost time for jess and her girls because of @winch3ster .how infuriated she would be to find that her family has kept them a secret from sam their whole lives, particularly at the behest of her mom and sister. they know about angels and demons existing, but it isn't like the angel that dropped off the girls went into much detail about hunting and what that means. clarissa wants nothing more than to protect the last pieces of her daughter she has left and she's terrified of the darkness that follows sam... it still doesn't make sense to her that neither of the winchesters were able to save jess that night. there is definitely a fracture in her relationship with clarissa that takes a long time to heal.
in this verse i think alyssa is maybe a bit more open to not believing the fbi profile of the winchesters and that she wants to find them to vet them before she lets sam into the lives of the twins. after all, death and destruction follow the winchesters, a path lay out before her by more than one fbi agent and she thinks its very telling the angels brought the girls to them and not to sam. while clarissa tries to shut it all out and give the girls the best shot at a normal life she can, alyssa breaches the hunting community while she's still in college and tries to make sense of the emotions that come with that and the implications that has on her view of the winchester brothers.
there's a lot of conversations between jess and her parents and jess and alyssa that happen behind closed doors and i'm sure she said something about how her dad should have grown a backbone to stand up for sam and the girls's right to know their father if he really believed sam to be the person that jess saw him as (as kyle claims).
please me writing jess's family is a land mine for drabbles.

she was listening to you. she really was, but she got distracted by how long sam's fingers really are.

there's something comforting in simply having company that knows about all of this. this other woman saved her life and that's quickly eating at her resolve to keep in the shadows to ensure her resurrection isn't found out... but there isn't much time to dwell on her future in the middle of a vampire nest that she's wholly unprepared for. she takes the machete offered to with a sheepish downcast of her eyes, tucking her own blade away. clearly there's a lot for her to learn.
her eyes trace the vampire head as it rolls along the floor, bared fangs and all. disgusting. no wonder fiction strayed far from this reality. footsteps echo signaling another vampire its animalistic hissing hits her ears. this time jess is ready and a bit desperate to prove she's not completely useless. hacking her machete through the air with all of her might (she's read decapitation takes much more effort than one would assume) the tiniest bit of pride is evident in her eyes as she wipes some of the creature's blood from where it splattered on her hands. ❝ thought they'd stick to smaller numbers to avoid detection. ❞
"it's okay, you're okay." sonny shook her head as the stranger apologized. still in a protective stance to make sure no one got to the blonde. though, she was surprised and impressed when she was suddenly stood next to her. glacing at the blade in her hand, sonny pulled another machete from her belt and handed it to her, "makes it easier to cut their heads off. dead man's blood already on it."
brown hues back onto the chaos surrounding them, sonny sucked in a breath, "can't say i know. it's like they're growing in numbers. happens when you're in their nest." almost immediately, a few vamps started charging their way and sonny sliced at the head. watching it drop and roll away. "the faster we take them out, the sooner we'll get out of here."

❝ makes me want to keep tabs on them, see how long it takes for them to learn not to be shit. ❞ from what she could, a certain subset of humanity may never learn from their mistakes. a victim of circumstance, no matter the consequences they face. it is truly disturbing how much money and that kind of charm that's almost slimy can really get a guy.
❝ i know. just not feeling like showing any cracks in my airtight tough girl persona. ❞ she laughs, hoping to brush past the vulnerability that lies even in the very sentence trying to cover it up. maybe she should say something, but she's too intrigued on how she will handle fire in a controlled environment.
she doesn't want to be tied down by that fear for the rest of her life.
"You know it. All we gotta do is watch carefully, and we'll have no shortage of opportunities to even the score. " And Meg certainly did enjoy any chance at making people who terrorized others feel small, and vulnerable for once. If they knew what was good for them, they'd learn from the experience, and behave better. But, if they didn't...
Well, Meg kept plenty of lighters on her at all times.
At the almost too quick response from Jess, though, her brow furrowed a little. "Well, if you're sure, we'll get going. But... fuck, this is probably awkward... just, know you can talk to me. Y'know, if you need to."
Feelings were still sometimes a bit nebulous for the demon, but she did care... she did want to be as good a friend as she could be.

❝ i guess we call ourselves hunters. original right? ❞ part of bringing herself into this because she didn't know what else to do when she found herself alive again meant keeping a distance from others that did this as much as possible. that sense of community is lost on her. ❝ unfortunately we don't have neutralyzers like the men in black, but you can at least go home to a normal life knowing i got this thing when it's all said and done. ❞
of course she remembered. right down to the exact intonation Jess used when it left her lips, " turtleneck. " spoken with a nod, as though it should have been obvious that she had remembered. one of the few blessings her eidetic memory gave. though she held out hope that it wouldn't haunt her later tonight, replaying over and over what she should have done or said.
" so what are you like ... a vigilante or something? "
