BREAKING NEWS FROM FOX NEWS – SPRINGDALE, ARKANSAS
Elm Springs road has been shut down in both directions after a shooting took place outside the Dunkin’ Donuts early this morning.  Police were called to the 4000 block of Elm Springs road around 4:30 this morning after receiving a call reporting a gunshot had been heard in the area.  When police arrived, they found a male, already deceased.
Upon further investigation, the man’s injuries were consistent with gunshot wounds and police believe that foul play was involved.  The man’s identity has been confirmed to be Roy Mason, owner of renowned chicken farm Mason chicken.  Mason was 49 at the time of the shooting.  A statement by his wife, Sherry Mason has been released:
“Roy was such a good man.  We are devastated by this news and seek justice for the person that killed my husband.  Roy was an active member in the community and beloved by any he encountered.  A simple man, he loved hunting, good chicken, and family.  His children, 10 and 12, have lost their father far too young.  If you have any information at all, I urge you to come forward. We must band together as a community and support one another in this time of tremendous loss.”
One community member, Suzie Mullins, came forward to express the amount Mason meant to the community:
“Roy was such a valued leader here in Springdale. He would host annual picnics for families in the community – providing a spread of chicken, refreshments, and a variety of other goodies for anyone that came.  But that was Roy, he donated proceeds so that the high school could build a new gym, helped construct a new kitchen at the church, and even sponsored the little league baseball team the past 12 years.  His family has created a legacy in this town, and I can’t believe someone would do this to such a sweet man.”
Police are requesting that anyone with information come forward.  No arrests have been made.
Mason Chicken Inc. was founded by the late George Mason, Roy’s grandfather, in 1923.  The company thrived during the great depression, providing poultry at an affordable cost for families.  This continued through World War II, where the company cemented itself as one of America’s great chicken providers.  Roy Mason became CEO of the company in 2005 after his father, Doug Mason, retired.  Despite turning a consistent profit of more than $5 billion the past 5 years, the company has stayed true to its humble beginnings.  It has remained a family business and has been in Springdale throughout its existence – putting the city on the map.  The company sells chicken through many large retailers in the United States. Recently, the company stopped supplying Safeway with Chicken. In a recent press release the company Responded:
‘Safeway is in decline and closing stores.  The company was worried about contract terms during our last negotiation with Safeway and decided to terminate on our end as supplier.  We wish them the best.”
Roy Mason was born in Springdale, Arkansas on August 16th, 1970.  He played football for Springdale High School and received a scholarship to play wide receiver for the University of Arkansas.  He hurt his knee in a freak water-skiing accident and was unable to play football ever again.  Despite turning down the scholarship, he still found success at the University of Arkansas,  graduating with a business degree in 1993.  From there, he joined his father and helped run Mason Chicken Inc.  until he was named official CEO in 2005.  He married his high school sweetheart, Sherry Mason, on July 26, 1995 and would go on to have two children: Steven (12) and Mary (10).

Subject: Patient #127560 Transcript
February 16, 2019
Hello Danielle,
I’m sending over the transcript for patient #127560 for filing.  There has been no significant breakthrough and therefore I am going to continue to recommend further sessions.  Could you please coordinate this information with the court?  The judge will be curious to know his progress at his upcoming court date to review his progress.
Thank you,
Jack Hargreaves
Ph.D. University of Pennsylvania

Jack: Hello, Rick.  It’s nice to see you again.  Tell me about things have been since the last time I saw you.
Rick: Last week went well.  They’ve changed the label on the chocolate milk at the grocery store.  I’m not sure I like it because this one only has one cow on it, not two.  Tastes the same though so it’s OK.
Jack: Right, well change can be scary.  But you seem to be handling that well.  How about work, is the new job going well?
Rick: You know, it hasn’t been going too bad.  I don’t really have much to report though.  I didn’t go in this week.
Jack: You’re kidding (sigh).  What is it this time?  I know Greg at the courthouse vouched for you to get you this job.  After the incident at Safeway, we were lucky we could find another employer to hire you.
Rick: Jack, I liked Safeway.  It kept me integrated in the supply chain.  I was able to keep tabs on the company through the products it was shipping to the store and secure product for testing purposes.  It provided valuable information that was critical in my investigation.  The fact the bureaucrats won’t let me operate undercover there anymore is an incredible annoyance.  There is no undercover work to be done at a bookstore.  Indigo gets me no further along, Jack, HOW CAN YOU NOT UNDERSTAND? Instead of going to work and selling books, I did research.  I will take down Mason Chicken.
Jack: Look, Rick, we need to move past this.  There is no investigation.  It simply doesn’t make any sense.  Mason Chicken is a company that raises and manufactures poultry. Plain and simple.  There is no conspiracy theory involving aliens.  You NEED to understand and past this, Rick.
Rick: Don’t get me started!  Their prices are far too low.  I took it upon myself as a responsible American citizen to investigate.  As you know, I have found substantial reason to believe that they are in contact with extra-terrestrial beings.  There is a reason behind this partnership and I strongly believe the American population may be in danger.  Time is dwindling, Jack.  I believe they will strike SOON!
Jack: Okay, Rick.  Please explain to me: why a Chicken company in Arkansas?  Seems like if there were Aliens, they would choose a better partner than Mason’s?  Or simply use their space technology to invade Earth?
Rick: I don’t have all the answers, obviously. Part of that is because you all have decided it be best for me to work at INDIGO selling BOOKS.  The extra-terrestrials somehow view Mason’s as the key to the American population – one of Earth’s superpowers.  Why they are using this specific company, I am determined to find out.
Jack: Okay, we’re going to leave it at that for this week.  Please promise me you’ll go apologize to your boss at Indigo tomorrow.  You have a court date coming up soon and they will be eager to hear your progress.  Another termination from a job won’t look good, especially if it is related to the fictional conspiracy that got you in this mess in the first place.

Money
Roy Mason kept the engine running in his Cadillac.  It may have been the middle of August, but the sun had long retired from the previous day. His only company was the nearly full moon; not a cloud in the sky.  He generously sipped on his coffee, the only thing keeping his wary eyes open at what was literally ‘the crack of dawn.’  Mason thought that 4:00AM was a ridiculous time for a meeting.  His business partners were unconventional, but he tried to rationalize to himself that he deserved a little compromise.  As he did this, he pondered why he was here. Of course, he wanted to carry on his father’s legacy.  The Chicken business and this partnership had given him and his family immense wealth. He was reminded of this by the beautifully crafted leather seats in his Cadillac CTS V.  The car was roomy, featuring a top of the line stereo system. He pulled out his iPhone and decided to put on some music to pass the time – his business partners were late. Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon entered his ears and he pushed back and reclined deeper into the seat. The caffeine was not working its magic and he debated whether the Dunkin’ Donuts employee had really given him decaf by mistake.
Mason awoke suddenly from an angry thump on the window.  He must have drifted off – now almost certain he was given decaf coffee.  He hated the coffee from Dunkin anyways; bland and tasteless.  He looked to his left and was somewhat startled by the two faces glaring at him through the window.  Two men, both white.  Sunglasses covered their eyes, and they had remarkably well groomed short hair.  It reminded Mason of the Men in Black movies he had seen in the past.  He had fantasized about the possibility of such a thing happening to him one day – and when it finally did, he was unhappy about the side he ended up on.  But of course, he had no say in the matter and snapped back to reality when one of the men spoke.
“Get out of the vehicle, Mr. Mason.”
Mason opened the vehicle door, swung and planted his feet on the asphalt, and hoisted himself out of the plush leather seat.  He shook the hands of both men before remarking: “You look different than last time, why must you constantly change appearance?  It startles me each time we meet.”
One man, clearly in charge, spoke.  “Mr. Mason, you know our mission is critical.  It depends on your people never finding out about us or our motives. Our partnership with your family has spanned generations and is much bigger than you yourself.  We do not like the way you speak to us.  We are quickly losing faith in your ability to effectively distribute our virus.  The Chicken has been an effective vehicle to distribute the pathogen, but we must ensure it reaches the entire country before we unleash its full wrath.  Our plan to take over the world will not fail. An informant has reached out to us. There is one located here that is on to our plan.  He has been posting on what you call ‘Reddit.’  We have lost confidence in you and must step in to finish the job.  We took care of your family, Mr. Mason.  But you… you have not been helpful to us; therefore, we will need to finally take care of you.”
With that, Mr. Mason was shot.  The men disappeared.  The Cadillac’s engine continued to run and Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon played in the background.
