Until we need you to turn your music down, or repeat yourself several times, or stop touching us, or say what you actually mean the first time around.

Until we're weird, pushy, aggressive, confusing, stupid.

Until you have to see our perspective, and not just what you want it to be. You support us up until we aren't a stereotype anymore. Up until it isn't easy for you.

Everyone supports autistic people, as long as all you have to do is reblog a post here or there, boycott a movie, and then continue as usual. As long as it's easy. As long as we are what you want us to be.

Nobody has a problem with the autistic person for being autistic. They have a problem with them for showing it.

How to express tenderness towards yourself:

treat mundane activities like grocery shopping as adventures

make playlists for every feeling you can feel

give yourself quiet days to read and pass time slowly

keep a journal, a nonperfomative place to express yourself

reduce your screen time; use your screens mostly for inspiration

create more than you consume

have a place where you can run free and feel the wind rushing

do things that make you happy even if they seem childish

you know what? sometimes you are wrong. sometimes you are the toxic one. sometimes you are the bad guy in a story. but that does not make you a bad person. we all at many points in our life, no matter how healthy and good we are, have moments where we are wrong. don’t beat yourself up for this. reflect on the situation, identify what you did wrong and how you can avoiding making the same mistake, and move on. you’re human. you make mistakes. all you can do is learn and move on.
