Settling into the seat beside the boy in Northshore’s library, Freya readjusted the slightly askew beret perched on her head. Spotting her childhood friend in the library was a good excuse to to anything besides work. “Good morning! Ahem, thot, I am speaking to you!” She declared, grinning as another student gave her a look, clearly miffed that she was interrupting their studies with her voice. “You see that girl over there? She’s been checking you out for the past ten minutes. I say you shoot your shot. You guys could go at it in the stacks,” she joked, pointing to a blonde across the room. “I’d be jealous, but I’d accept it. She’s super cute.” @cvrdenas​

wanting to spend some time to catch up on reading, roman could be seen sitting by himself and just when he was getting deep into the book, he was interrupted. letting out a sigh, he could already tell who it was just by the sound of her voice. freya. out of everyone, she was one of the rare friends that he truly cares about. it may have been because of how much time they spent together growing up or the fact she was entertaining to be around, but he hardly admits how he feels toward her. or just about anyone. even when he looked at her with slight annoyance, his expression didn't last long as he showed a small smirk. "don't you have anyone else to bother?" he questioned, standing up while putting away his book. eyes glanced over to the where she directed before shaking his head. “shoot my shot? what, you don’t think i can get with her? thanks, but i’m good. she’s not my type anyway.”

“and deprive you of my sparkling company?” she fluttered her eyelashes at him to emphasize her point. “if i have to look at my bedroom walls for one more minute i’m going to go insane.”

the moment he heard her response, his eyes rolled before letting out a quiet chuckle. “i would have been perfectly fine. you, on the other hand, would just end up feeling worse, but that's your choice to make. don’t complain if you start to feel worse." crossing his arms, he rose an eyebrow at her. “then why not just sleep more? what could be better than that after all?”

“okay, i’m finally not infectious.” brittany sniffled. “…i think. honestly you might want to give me a little distance unless you have a great immune system because this took me out for like a week.”

he made a face, scrunching his nose before shaking his head. "if you're still sick, then why aren't you laying in bed and trying to get better? wouldn't that be the smartest move?"

i. about

growing up, everyone outside the family always thought the cardenas were picture perfect, but they were far from being right. roman may have lived luxuriously and the boy got anything he wanted, yet not exactly everything. from a young age, his dad always gave him tough love. he taught him how to survive in the real world and gave him advice on what to do as a business man. however, it still felt like something was missing. his dad wasn't exactly the affectionate, loving type. the only love he ever received was from his mom. she was the only person he was ever truly soft around.

as life continued and he became older, his dad taught him how to look professional and act as if things were perfect when meeting important people or being in social events. it was a priority to keep their image clean. due to this, it caused him to be exhausted. the longer he faked a personality and listened to what his dad had to say, it felt gentle pieces of him were being stripped away and turning into the man he is now.

he didn't understand why the world had to care what his dad or the family appeared as. no one was perfect to begin with. he wanted to rebel and disobey, but couldn’t. at least, not when people were watching. he wanted to make his father proud, so any disobedience was unacceptable. it was only when the adults of upper class weren’t nearby that he showed his true colors.

as much as he hates his asshole father, he still wants to make him proud. he has the reputation of a perfect son, but when he’s not with the rich and famous, he’s quite the opposite.

personality-wise, he can be self-centered, arrogant, stubborn, reserved, dedicated, reliable, loyal. however, his loyalty is mostly toward his family and those who are super close to him. if it’s anyone else, he doesn’t really care

spending so much time at his dad’s events, he’s not really big on the whole party scene. he may stick around for a while, but would either complain a lot later on or leave early

he’s not great with relationships, platonic or not. his main focus is on his future, so he thinks relationships can be insignificant at times. he also doesn’t want to waste energy on something he feels won’t matter for long. or at times, he just believes he’s better off with the people already in his life and doesn’t need to add more

speaking about his future, he’s not exactly sure what he wants to do. for himself. all his life he just assumed he’ll take over his dad’s business, but if that’s something he truly wants to do, roman’s unsure and it’s something he won’t actually think about at the moment
