Sometimes the fear of botching a suicide attempt was enough to keep me going. You hear about these stories, people who tried jumping off buildings and now they’re paralyzed from the neck down. Or someone who tried eating a bullet and now they live without half their brain or some shit. If I could barely handle my life as it was, what was I gonna do if it got worse? The funny thing is, as much as I thought about that shit, I didn’t realize how much I was hanging on by a thread. And now I regularly have moments where I think, “I’m so glad to be alive.” I hope everybody gets to feel that sometimes. It’s an incredible feeling. And I hope you don’t have to have been suicidal to really enjoy it.
